1972 Chevrolet Nova - Unifinished Project Car on 2040-cars
Harwich, Massachusetts, United States
I am selling my 1972 Nova. This nova has undergone an extensive
restoration over the last few years. I have put over 15,000 in new parts
and well over a 1000hrs of labor into this nova. Everything has been
replaced/repaired/ and upgraded. The end result was supposed to be a
high end tuxedo (black with white stripes) nova. The car originally came
from Pennsylvania. I brought to massachusetts in 2007 and have been
restoring her ever since. Sadly I just do not have the time to finish
it. Almost every piece of steel has been fully replaced or repaired. The
list includes new wheel wells, front quarters, rear quarters, trunk
lid, hood, rear cross rail, door skins, tail panel, trunk drop offs, rocker panels and
I'm sure there is more I'm forgetting. Basically all the metal is new or
completely rust free. The filler work is almost completed and it would
not take much to get her ready for paint. The floor was prepped and
coated with por15 and rubberized sound proofing. The frame was fully
removed, stripped and painted with the eastwood system. The
undercarriage was completely stripped and repainted. The rear shocks
were moved inboard to allow for bigger tires. The 12 bolt rear end was
removed straightened and tubes welded. A new eaton posi was put in. The
drive shaft is a new dennys drive shaft rated at 700hp with 1350 u
joints. The transmission is a restored 4speed saginaw. The engine is a
new 350 crate engine rated at 410hp-428torque. It is a 4 bolt main with
domed hyperuetectic pistons and a 500-510 hydraulic cam. The engine has a
march performance aluminum serpentine accessory drive system with an
edelbrock carb and aluminum radiator and electric fan. The firewall was
smoothed with new sheet metal. The front brakes were converted to disc
brakes and the rear were replaced with new drum brakes. The gas tank +
straps are new. New painless wiring harness which is wired just enough
to allow the engine to run. The steering column was replaced with a new
chrome ididit column. Has a new custom fully welded exhaust from summit.
Also have various new trim pieces. New door handles, mirrors etc. And
I'm sure there is a ton of stuff I'm forgetting.

Chevy's 6.6-liter Duramax is pretty much all new
Thu, Sep 29 2016To say there's a heated battle in heavy-duty pickups is an understatement, with Chevrolet, Ford, and Ram constantly trading blows of increased torque, horsepower, and towing capacity. The latest salvo is the revised, more powerful turbo diesel 6.6-liter Duramax V8 in the 2017 Chevy Silverado. It has 910 pound-feet of torque, an increase of 145, putting it nearly level with the Ford Super Duty. Here's a closer look at where those gains come from. How exactly did Chevrolet add all that torque plus 48 horsepower? The automaker essentially took a fine-tooth comb to the entire engine. Chevy says it changed 90 percent of the V8, and the cumulative effect of those small changes adds up to big increases. As you might guess, the turbocharger is updated. The larger unit features electric actuation of the variable nozzle turbine (VNT), and what Chevy calls a double axle cartridge mechanism that separates the VNT moving parts from the housing. That helps with heat performance as well, with a claim that the exhaust side of the turbo can run continuously up to 1,436 degrees Fahrenheit. Helping that cause are six exhaust gaskets made of Inconel - an nickel alloy that contains chromium and iron – and upgraded stainless steel for the exhaust manifold. Despite having the same cast iron cylinder block, albeit with some minor enhancements, the engine has new cylinder heads, pistons, piston pins, connecting rods, and crankshaft, which have all been upgraded to handle 20 percent higher cylinder pressures. Alongside the increase in pressure, Chevrolet also increased the cylinder head's structure with a honeycomb design. The pattern features high-strength aluminum with dual layer water jackets that not only improve strength, but also optimize water flow for better cooling. For 2017, the cylinder head also benefits from integrated plenum that aids the engine in getting more air under heavy loads. The cylinder head isn't the only component to get a minor update, as the pistons have a larger diameter pin for improved oil flow. The same detailed improvements has been bestowed to the humble connecting rods (second in our hearts only to the inanimate carbon rod). The new design has the bolts oriented roughly 45-degrees to the rod instead of parallel. The angle split design, as it's called allows for easier passage through the cylinder.
Seeing the Detroit Auto Show via drone
Sun, Jan 18 2015Seeing the Chevrolet display at the Detroit Auto Show is worth doing this year, and not just because of the new Corvette Z06, Volt and Bolt concept. In order to attract the new kids, The Bowtie has gone what the old kids used to call "buck wild" with their show stand at Cobo Hall. A Corvette Z06, Trax, and Colorado are parked along a central aisle, called Mainstreet, at the end of which is a 20-foot-tall, 73-foot long transparent screen lording over the new Volt. Elsewhere are five more 20-foot-tall screens broadcasting nine stories today's Chevrolet wants to tell about its vehicles, from performance to belief in the power of play to its 4G LTE-equipped OnStar telematics service. Then there are the social media and virtual reality safety installations, the community presentations and more. Chevrolet flew a drone through the stand to show off what it's doing, which is has replaced eye-level video as the next best thing to being there. You can check it out in the video above.
Survey says $25k barrier is a problem for EVs
Sun, 01 Dec 2013
The majority of consumers are more or less priced out of the market.
Electric cars are gaining popularity with the general public, but are they still too expensive? According to a survey 1,084 consumers by Navigant Research, a consulting firm located in Boulder, CO, 71 percent want their next car to cost under $25,000, while 41 percent won't go a cent above $20K. Looks like people are even thriftier than we'd originally thought.
