Up for sale is a 1967 Chevy II Nova.  Its got a brand new 350 rebuilt with just a few miles on it.  284 duration cam .480 lift, nothing wild, just a nice sounding street camshaft.  Edelbrock performer rpm intake with a holley 750.  HEI ignition.   Car is a driver, not radical.  New large aluminum radiator and electric fan, ram horn maifolds with new exhaust with 2.5 inch flowmaster copies.  Sounds nice.  Turbo 350 automatic transmission, new ujoints.  Rear is a 10 bolt with 3.08 gears so it can be driven without the RPMs screaming.  Battery is trunk mounted, and it has a new gas tank and sender. The front end is a CPP tubular control arm setup, (uppers and lowers) with new shocks.  Has all new tire rods and sleeves, idler arm too. Just had the alignment done.  Handles much better than the stock strut rod setup.  Has a front disc brake kit installed with new master cylinder, new rear brakes and wheel cylinders.  Car stops very nice and straight.  New quarter panels and a one piece floor pan were installed along with frame connectors. Car is chassis sealed underneath with gloss black.  Has a fiberglass 2 inch cowl hood, and the paint is 2014 BMW Ruby Black Metallic.  Kinda looks like a dark cherry/dark plum color in the sun.  Paint is good, has not been wet sanded or buffed yet.  This can be done before the car sells if need be.  Nice weld draglite wheels, 15x7s in the back with the right offset for the car.  I have test fitted a 255/60/15 on it and they will fit with no rubbing. Has smaller rear tires on it for now.   Fronts are 15x4 with mickey T tires.  Drives straight.  Interior has cloth buckets out of a newer car, new carpet kit, B&M shifter.  All dash and door interiors painted base clear black, all lights and turn signals all work correctly.  Needs door panels and headliner to finish up inside.  Car is for sale locally, so I reserve the right to end this auction due to local sale.  Any other questions, feel free to call and Ill answer the best I can.  321-698-7852.  Thanks

Next Corvette ZR1 to get 700 horsepower?

Tue, 19 Feb 2013

Word has it General Motors may offer as much as 700 horsepower in the C7 Corvette ZR1. Motor Trend reports the next Corvette Z06 will continue to rely on its naturally aspirated 7.0-liter V8 engine for thrust, but the lump will deliver substantially more power. How much more? MT says the engine could deliver up to 600 ponies. That's a jump of 95 horsepower over the current Z06, though no figures have been finalized as of yet. Right now, GM is reportedly waiting to see what sort of grunt it can glean from the next ZR1.
The automaker has already made it clear it will resurrect the LT5 name for the new supercharged V8, and if GM is already pulling 600 from the Z06, the big dog ZR1 would theoretically offer 700 horsepower. Either way, the range-topping Corvette will be suitably insulated from its less potent siblings. Stay tuned. We aren't likely to see the Z06 for at least a year, with the ZR1 trailing along at some point there after.

Why the Corvette is Chevrolet's billion-dollar baby

Thu, 28 Feb 2013

Edmunds has worked up a piece that tries to figure out just how much the global Chevrolet Corvette economy is worth, a spitballed guesstimate putting the number at more than $2.5 billion with the proviso that the number is probably low. It starts by taking Corvette's new car sales of 14,132 units last year, which would equate to $714,725,900 (including destination) assuming ever car sold was a base coupe with no options. In the final tally, a little extra padding gets that number up to $750,000,000.
But that's not all. Consider this: Many of the almost 1.4 million Corvettes produced over the model's history are still on the road. There are new parts being produced and aftermarket companies like Mid-America Motorworks deaing business, that single Illinois company doing more than $40 million a year in sales. There are the Corvette events large and small, restorers who do nothing but Corvettes, salvage yards that deal only in used Corvette parts and the Corvette magazines where owners find all this stuff.
And then there are the Corvette-themed tchotchkes, every single one of which provides a tiny contribution to the huge licensing royalties that General Motors collects every year. The article admits there's no way to come to an accurate number, but it just goes to show how valuable one specific model can be to a company.

GM looks to combat high theft rates on SUVs with added tech

Tue, 24 Dec 2013

The Cadillac Escalade has been at or near the top of most-stolen and insurance-loss lists for more than seven years, until it dropped to number six earlier this year. In 2011 it was fitted with a host of new security features to address its easy-to-override features and that has brought the number of thefts down, but when eight of the ten most stolen rides are large SUVs from General Motors, no one will argue that something else needs to be done.
Thus, GM has fitted this same theft-deterring tech to the 2015 Suburban, Tahoe and Yukon. The Suburban and Tahoe will get the steering lock that the Escalade and Yukon already get, plus bolted-down third-row seats to deter thefts like this, stronger door lock cylinders and shields, and side-cut keys to inhibit picking.
Additional security measures in a Theft Protection Package can be purchased for $395, consisting of sensors on the greenhouse glass and interior, an incline/tilt sensor and added "key control systems" to make it more difficult for the men in black balaclavas to steal what you bought.
