1964 Chevy Ii, 2 Door Sedan - Great Daily Driver.... Drive Her Home.... on 2040-cars

1964 Chevy II, 2 door sedan, 100 Series, 194 cu. in. 6 cylinder, automatic, power steering, power brakes - all matching numbers, with 45,005 original miles (documented) A dependable daily driver that is in great shape for a 50 year old classic - She is a real head turner - Recent updates include all new brakes, wheel cylinders, master cylinder, rebuilt power brake booster, new upper and lower ball joints and tie rod ends, new water pump, new carburetor, all new engine gaskets and 4 new white wall radial tires. Radiator was flushed, transmission strainer cleaned - all new fluids & no fluid leaks - recently tuned (points, condenser and plugs) Compression test revealed over 110 psi on each cylinder and within +/- tolerances. Based upon her condition I believe she has been garaged for most of her life, as she is right now - I have the original owners’ manual and warranty book that came with the car in 1964 - I am the 3rd owner. She is straight and true and as best as I can tell she has never been in a major accident - She has new window and door gaskets, floor pans and has had some minor rust repair done over the years - There is no visible rust or rust through anywhere on the car - She was re-painted at some point in her 50 years and is still the original color that matches the factory paint code. She drives straight down the road, shifts perfectly, stops on a dime, has plenty of power with no hesitation and has no shimmies or shakes even at 75 mph - She’s not perfect by any means but she is the great car for someone who wants a fun, dependable classic – She would be great for the first time classic car buyer or someone who doesn’t work on cars because she needs nothing done mechanically to drive her…. She does have some minor body imperfections - the passenger door has a paint blend that doesn’t quite match perfectly where a small dent was repaired and she has the usual small chips here and there found on any 50 year old daily driver. She is not a show car and is not priced like one…But... Everything works and unlike most sellers, I can honestly state that this car is strong enough and safe enough to drive her home from Southwest Florida to anywhere here in the states. I will gladly help the new buyer coordinate shipping by carriers or by container if shipped outside the USA (at the buyers cost of course). The last classic car I sold was a 68 Ford Falcon that was shipped to Queensland, Australia and the new owners loved the condition of my car…. I have over $14,000 invested but you can buy her now for only $12,500 - I will consider all “Reasonable Offers” throughout this auction but offensively low bids will be automatically refused - Please understand that I am in no rush to sell her - You just don’t find daily drivers like this in such good mechanical condition - I plan to hold out for the best offer or wait to sell her locally where she is also being advertised…. NOTE: She is being sold as-is and where-is - there is no warranty or guarantee that comes with the car - The buyer must pay $500 deposit immediately via PayPal - The balance is to be paid via certified check within 3 business days -The check must clear my bank before the clear title will be signed over and the car released (approx. 5 banking days) Please note: I will not sell to anyone in Mexico or Central America because of the scams coming from these regions…. Thanks for looking… Gary W. |

Autonomous tech will drive motorheads off the road
Thu, Nov 9 2017While autonomous technology could make car travel much safer and more efficient — and automakers and marketers are salivating over the prospect of a "passenger economy" that could potentially generate $7 trillion by 2050 — those of us who enjoy driving are not so stoked. Experts have predicted that as autonomous vehicles are deployed in large numbers, human-driven cars eventually could be outlawed on public roads due to the carnage they create, which is currently more than 41,000 deaths a year in the U.S. alone and climbing. Such scenarios have driving enthusiasts envisioning a "Red Barchetta" style nightmare becoming reality, making Rush lyricist Neil Peart a clairvoyant as well as one of rock's most badass skin-pounders. But there could be a couple of refuges left for motorheads, and they won't be on public roads. As Popular Science's Joe Brown points out in a recent editorial, we're seeing a wave of vehicles being offered by legit mainstream automakers that aren't made for public roads. The poster child of this vanguard is the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon, which comes with a crate full of goodies that lets you turn the already formidable street-legal muscle car into a drag-strip dominator. Brown also notes that two out of five of the Ford GT's driving modes are for use on the track, "catering to the $450,000 machine's club-racing clientele." We're also currently enjoying the heyday of production off-road-ready pickups that kicked off with the Ford Raptor in 2009. The latest salvo in this escalating war of overachieving trucks is the Chevy Colorado ZR2 that can take on the likes of California's Rubicon Trail without issue. Brown also gives a shout-out to his magazine's Grand Award Winner, the Alta Motors Redshift MX, which "isn't even allowed on public roads" and is "meant for bombing around motocross tracks, big backyards and single-track woods trails." If you follow Brown on Instagram, you know that he's also a two-wheel aficionado, and he points out that sales of off-road bikes are leaving street machines in the dust. Sales of off-highway motorcycles rose 29 percent between 2012 and 2016, according to the ÂMotorcycle Industry Council — compared to 6 percent for road-bike sales during the same period. "That's a nearly 400-percent drubbing," Brown remarks.
Mary Barra reportedly confirms GM's electric pickup truck plans
Tue, Apr 30 2019According to Motor Authority, CEO Mary Barra confirmed General Motors' intentions to build an electric pickup truck this week. Whether or not it would be an all-new vehicle is unknown. The news comes not even a week after Ford announced a $500 million investment in electric-vehicle startup Rivian. First, electric powertrains were integrated into cars. Then came the crossovers and the SUVs. Naturally, then, the next wave will be pickup trucks. Ford is set to produce an electric F-150, Rivian has the R1T, and now General Motors has reportedly confirmed its plans to introduce a competitor into the field. The article says the topic was brought up in a recent investor call as part of a brief overview of the automaker's electrification strategy. That's where the details end, however, as there is no indication of a timeline, what GM brand would carry the truck, or whether it would be an entirely new product or an adaptation of a current model. The latter seems most likely, which points to the Chevrolet Silverado or the GMC Sierra as possibilities. Chevrolet has been GM's electrification leader this decade with the Bolt and Volt, so an electric Silverado would align well with that messaging and branding. However, an electric pickup would likely be a pricier premium product, which could align it better with GMC. Autoblog has reached out to GM for comment and will update this space when we get a response. 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Quick Spin [w/video]
Tue, Dec 1 2015The Silverado 1500 gets what most would consider an early update for 2016. Just two years into this generation, the half-ton Chevy truck has been given a visual overhaul and a handful of feature upgrades. Chevy reps say they didn't wait the usual three years for a refresh because they knew the domestic competitors were planning updates of their own for 2015. We're told the fast refresh was always in the plans, and that it wasn't a response to critics (like us) saying "meh" to the new truck's design, which some felt hewed too close to the GMT900s that came before. If a Ford grille that reaches halfway into the headlights is good, a Chevy grille that cuts the units clean in two must be better. That's at least how we imagine the designers' thought process went. Those new split lights use HID projectors on lower models and full-LED tech on the upper trims, with all versions getting LED daytime running lights. LED taillights are also included on the fancier models.
Your browser does not support iframes.
Each of the eight trim levels has its own look, and the differentiation goes beyond the placement of chrome and the color of cladding. Look closely and you'll see that elements of the various grille treatments are repeated within the headlights. It's a neat touch, and proof that attention to detail is still a thing. Chevy also reshaped the hood, with sharp lines and pockets that look like they'll do a great job of collecting snow come winter. We get why a Corvette has troughs in its hood (you know where the wheels are and see through the valley to the road) but the surfacing on the Silverado's engine hat has only aesthetic benefits. On the feature front, almost all 2016 Silverado models get standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support; the 7.0-inch screen includes both, while the available 8.0-inch screen will add Android Auto through an update in March of 2016. The top High Country trim gets new power-articulating side steps as an option. In addition to swinging down to help you hoist yourself in through the door, the steps have a button at the rear that, when pressed, motors them down and rearward to give you a foothold at the front of the bed. Chevy also catches up to the competition with an available remote-locking tailgate. Chevy also gets further into the competitive numbers game for 2016 with expanded use of its eight-speed truck transmission.
