71 Monte Carlo 454 Ss Clone Partially Restored Chevrolet A/c 400 Automatic on 2040-cars
Keedysville, Maryland, United States
This is my partially restored 71 Monte carlo, it has a frsh flat top 454 totally rebuilt last spring it has a 500-300 hydraulic cam and steel heads, aluminum valve covers new holly 750 dual feed carb. It has a brand new aftermarket heat and AC unit, I haven't had it charged yet but its ready to go. There's a new aluminum radiator and B&M transmission cooler with stainless lines. The transmission is a rebuilt turbo 400 with a 3200 stahl. It has a high torque starter and all new motor and transmission mounts. I replaced the u-joints in the drive shaft and I rebuilt the rear end new bearings with Yukon 390 gears and Posi unit. There are new Nito drag radials on the rear, with regular radials it wouldn't hook up but now it launches. I put a Holly fuel pump in it with a new line to the engine. It has electric cooling fans on a seperate control relay with temp sensor plus it has a light weight race fan on the water pump. I just had it in the garage and i replaced the front springs and after market tubular control arms with all ball joints and bushings. I painted the calipers and spindle's while it was apart and I replaced the shocks. When I got the car it hasd a bench seat and I replaced it with two cheap bucket seats that recline and I installed a dakota ($800) digital dash cluster which looks real good and i added supplemental gauges under the dash for 2nd reference's. It has a new stereo in with amp and subs but i was taking that out unless you wanted it. There is a blue led light kit under the car as well which looks real cool at night. There's more but it will take to long to list it all.
This car starts right up and runs and sounds great, I never took it to the track so I dont know what it runs but its fast. I have too much going on with life work and other projects so this one needs to go, I hate to sell it but I just don't have money or time to complete it. this cars is mechanically sound all that it needs is paint and some interior upgrades, the interior is good but I would put better seats in it and redo the rear dash the previous owner cut it out to put 4 6x9 speakers in it. The paint is ok now but it has some bubbles and chips here and there plus the soft top had a low spot in it but I was going to take it off and just roll with the hard top look.I didnt complete the flex duct work in the dash for the new ac system, the dash pad comes off easy and the stuff is easy to get to. The previous owner also put a few screws in the trim where the clips broke but they sell trim kits on ebay for $400.00. I have close to 20k in this car and I know that I wont get that for it and my reserve is well below it, please email with any questions comments and concerns and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. The car is in Keedysville MD and depending on how far away you are I can arrange shipping at your expense but I prefer to do the deal in person so you see what your getting. |

Chevy Volt sales drop in June, Nissan Leaf inches upwards
Tue, Jul 1 2014Different month, same story. That's the gist of the monthly US sales numbers from the Chevy Volt and the Nissan Leaf. These were the first two mass-market plug-in vehicles to go on sale in the US and we've been comparing their sales numbers for what seems like ages now. So far, the 2014 tale of the tape shows the all-electric once again trumping the plug-in hybrid. The last time the Volt outsold the Leaf was in October 2013. Chevrolet sold 1,777 Volts in June. That was good enough to be the Volt's best sales month of the year, but it's down 34 percent from the 2,698 units sold in June 2013. In fact, it's on par with the 1,760 Volts sold in June 2012. Given the steady sales, General Motors might need to push up the release of the next-gen Volt to gin up excitement, especially if it also offers some of the things that current Volt drivers say they want improved: more range, a lower price and a fifth seat. GM also said it sold 85 Spark EVs in June, an increase of 215 percent over June 2013 Nissan sold 2,347 Leafs last month. The good news continues for Nissan, which says it sold 2,347 Leafs last month. That's an increase of 5.5 percent over 2013 numbers and makes 2014 the best June ever for Leaf sales. Let's credit Texas. Toby Perry, Nissan's director of EV sales and marketing, said in a statement that, "Since the Texas state incentive went into effect in May, we've seen a big jump in Leaf sales in the Austin, Dallas and Houston markets. Our dealers are telling us that they saw more traffic in their stores, and they had their best Leaf sales performance in the last weekend in June." Even with that increase, Atlanta remains the top Leaf market. Nissan has sold 12,736 Leafs in the US so far this year; Chevy 8,615 Volts. Our detailed monthly sales write-up of green cars in the US, including plug-in vehicles, hybrids and diesel cars, is coming soon. For now, we invite you to discuss these numbers in the Comments. 1 in 7 Americans say they might buy an EV next, as sales of electrics surge
Wed, Apr 26 2017About one in seven driving Americans may likely purchase an electric vehicle as their next car, according to an AAA poll, meaning that as many as 30 million Americans may pony up for an EV within the next three to five years. While some of the motivation is environmental, survey recipients say that lower maintenance expenses and solo access to high-occupancy-vehicle lanes are also among the factors behind potentially going electric. Take a look at the AAA press release on the study here. The poll indicates that about as many people are planning to buy an EV for their next car as are looking to buy a pickup, which is impressive given that the best-selling US vehicle is the Ford F-150. And things should only improve, as about 20 percent of millennials polled said that their next car would probably be an EV. The results are all the more encouraging, at least among green-car advocates, because gas prices have fallen about 40 percent within the past five years, meaning that there's less of an incentive to go electric from a purely economic perspective. Through the first quarter of this year, US plug-in vehicle sales were up about 63 percent from a year earlier to about 39,000 vehicles. Meanwhile, when it came to AAA's annual green-vehicle awards for this year, Tesla's Model S and Model X took the large car and SUV categories, respectively, while the Chevrolet Bolt and Volkswagen e-Golf were listed atop the subcompact and compact lists. The Lexus GS 450h hybrid and the Ford F-150 took home AAA's best green vehicle in the midsize and pickup truck categories. Related Video:
More Corvette Stingray Factoids: Vanishing panel gaps and 26-mpg LT1
Thu, 28 Feb 2013During January's Detroit Auto Show, we managed a longer than expected wandering tag-team interview with C7 Corvette chief engineering exec Tadge Juechter (pictured above), and LT1 engine boss Jordan Lee (pictured below). They are, quite honestly, two of the very nicest bigshot lads to ever walk the engineering corridors of an American manufacturer. Both are enthralled by what they're doing for a day job. So are we.
We've followed the pre-sale anticipation for the Chevrolet C7 Corvette Stingray like an Oreck vacuum yanking every speck of dirt from a well-trampled carpet. Everything is reportable and contains a grain of further knowledge about this dramatically important and cheered-for car, as it continues to be pressured into representing all that is superior about the American dream. The Corvette wears one heavy cloak.
So, most of what was talked about has been expertly reported already right here on Autoblog. But, looking through our notes again, both Jeuchter and Lee added facts to the buzzing mix.
