I have too many cars and have just finished this project. And it is time for me to move onto my next project. You are looking at a 1988 Chevy Monte Carlo SS with T-tops, bucket seats with a floor console. I am only the 3rd owner. The gentlemen that owned it before me, is a 76 year old man who bought it in 1996 with 52K on it. I have the title to prove it. About 50K ago (at around 82K) he put in a GM 305 replacement motor. The car runs and drives excellent. It has a lifter tick at idle. The previous owner told me that it has always done that, even when the motor was brand new. If you bring the motor up to 1500 RPM it goes away. Transmission shifts beautifully. Mechanically it has always been well maintained. It gets good gas mileage and has just enough power. Has a nice posi 373 gear rear end. The interior is in good condition. Certainly the upholstry on the seats could use some attention. But the good news is, the interior is 100% complete in unrestored condition. Everything works in the interior & exterior, except for the cruise control and the A/C. The previous owner did a great job maintaining the car, but did not maintain the rust. And that is where I came in. I have two friends that own a professional body shop and I spent $3,000 in paint & bodywork alone to get the car to look this good. Yes the frame, tranny mount and floors, especially behind the front seat have been patched (sheet metal.) But welded in, fiberglass and done right. I would call it a period correct restoration. As you can see no shortcuts were taken on the body. And it came out great! There are several paint imperfections, that need to be touched up or finished. Most are unnoticable. The car has brand new SS decals. The raised white letter tires are in great shape. The rims were sandblasted and look new. The T-tops do leak some during heavy rain (they all do.) 1988 was one of the last full frame Chevrolets ever produced and 1988 was the last year for this body style Monte Carlo SS. The last Monte Carlo SS to roll off the line, was a Silver T-top just like this. This is within one of the last few thousand made. It only cost me $32 to register due to it's antique plate status. I get thumbs up and comments everywhere I go. My reserve is very low and I have much more into it. Bid with confidence. Check my feedback. Thank you

2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra show all their sides in Detroit
Tue, 15 Jan 2013There could hardly be more riding on the next-generation General Motors full-size pickup trucks, so the automaker has wisely made sure to have a selection of different models on hand at the Detroit Auto Show to show off. The 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and 2014 GMC Sierra were both officially introduced last month at a stand-alone reveal, and now they'll be on display for the public to see in various body configurations and trim levels.
The Silverado LTZ Crew Cab and Sierra SLE Extended Cab are aimed at providing more of a high-end pickup experience, while the Silverado LT Z71 Extended Cab and Sierra SLT Z71 Crew Cab should have off-road fans scouting out their favorite trails. The crew cab trucks won't go into production until sometime during the second quarter of this year - with other bodystyles coming later in the year - but we have plenty of live images from Detroit for you to enjoy.
Junkyard Gem: 1988 Chevrolet Spectrum Sport Coupe
Wed, Aug 23 2023Before General Motors created the Geo brand for cars built or designed by its overseas partners, the Chevrolet Division put its badges on U.S.-market versions of the Toyota Corolla Sprinter, the Suzuki Cultus and the Isuzu Gemini. Those cars were known as the Nova, the Sprint and the Spectrum, and all became Geos starting with the 1989 model year. Today's Junkyard Gem is one of the last Chevy Spectrums ever sold, found in a Denver self-service yard a few months ago. Midway through 1988, the Chevrolet Spectrum abruptly became the Geo Spectrum and was assigned to the 1989 model year. This car was built in May 1988, making it one of the very last of the pre-Geo Spectrums. The Chevrolet/Geo Spectrum was available as a four-door sedan and as a three-door hatchback, from the 1985 through 1989 model years. For 1988 only, a Spectrum Sport Coupe package, featuring some trim upgrades and these rad decals, could be had on the hatchback. This car was essentially identical to its Isuzu-badged counterpart, the I-Mark. In 1988, the MSRP for the cheapest possible Chevy Spectrum hatchback (the stripped-down Spectrum Express) was $6,495, while its somewhat better-equipped I-Mark twin started at $7,439 (that's $17,128 and $19,617 in 2023 dollars). Meanwhile, the base Hyundai Excel hatchback listed at $5,295 and the Yugo GV cost a hilarious $4,199 ($13,963 and $10,941 in today's money). Power came from this 1.5-liter SOHC four-cylinder, rated at 70 horsepower. A turbocharged version with 110 horsepower was available as well. You could get an automatic transmission in the Spectrum, but this car has the base five-speed manual. This car didn't get the optional air conditioning, but at least it has the traditional Isuzu HVAC control icons featuring blow-dried hair and high-heeled dominatrix boots. Just over 170,000 miles on the odometer. Someone installed a pretty good (for the 1980s) Blaupunkt Charlotte CR148 cassette deck in the dash. This was a necessity if you wanted to enjoy full appreciation of the music of the era. The Spectrum is special! It's as slick as city rain. "I didn't spend a lot of money but with my Spectrum it looks like I did." Joe Isuzu mocked Toyota salesmen when pitching the I-Mark. As was nearly always the case during the 1980s, the JDM ads for the same car were much more fun. They should have recreated this commercial with Spectrums.
