You are bidding on an original 1972 factory 402 big-block Monte Carlo.  This survivor still retains its original serial number-matching 402 engine... I personally verified that the partial VIN stamped into the engine block ID pad matches the VIN of the car..  This car is going to make someone very proud and happy... it's a very cool car.

The car is in sound running and driving condition.  It runs well and strong, steers well, and brakes well.  In the past 5000 miles, the front suspension has been rebuilt, the tires replaced, the brakes done, front end aligned, new shock absorbers, new exhaust system, and new alternator.  The car shows just over 70K miles on the odometer.  It runs smoothly and does not smoke at all.  The transmission shifts exactly as it should.  It has its original 12-bolt rear end still in place as well... all the drivetrain is original.

Factory Rally Wheels in good condition.  The car is very dry with virtually no rust; very, very minor hints in the lower quarter on one side, and minor surface rust in the expected places.  The body is overall fairly straight.  There is a rub on the driver's rear quarter above the wheel lip, the passenger door has a dent, and there's a minor crease/dent in the passenger rear quarter.  The previous owner removed the lower section of vinyl between the rear window and trunk to look for rust; there isn't any.  Trunk is dry as well.  Windows all roll up and down, glass in very good condition all around.  Dash is uncut and original, with an aftermarket stereo in an under dash housing.  Dash pad looks nice. Factory A/C car with everything there, but not currently operational; will need to be recharged, etc.  Interior has mismatched seat upholstery, missing door panels, and needs carpet/headliner as well.

The original color was Cortez Silver Metallic.  It now wears an older repaint in a very pretty Cinnamon Red metallic; very pretty.  Paint is still shiny, and the car still looks good despite the small issues.

I will include a straight and complete passenger door, rear deck lid, and miscellaneous trim, extra parts, etc. with buy-it-now purchase.  They may also be purchased seperately.

Being a numbers-matching big-block first-generation Monte Carlo that's also virtually rust free, this car is a perfect candidate for a full restoration.  As pretty as the current paint is, Cortez Silver is probably my favorite finish on these early Monte's.  Also, the ORIGINAL build sheet for the car was present and is included along with an original owner's manual.

You may call me at 360-936-9257 with any questions.  While every effort has been made to describe the vehicle accurately, it is a 41-year-old classic vehicle and being sold as-is, with no warranties expressed or implied.  Shipping is the full responsibility of the buyer.  I will make myself and the vehicle available for pickup and loading of the vehicle.  Please be prepared to remit payment in full within 3 days of auction end via cash, bank wire transfer, or certified major bank cashier's check *(must wait a reasonable amount of time to verify clearance/authenticity).

8 cars we're most looking forward to driving in 2015

Mon, Jan 5 2015

Now that 2014 is officially in the books, it's time to look ahead. And following our list of the cars we liked best last year, we're now setting our sights at the hot new metal that's coming our way in 2015. Some of these, we've already seen. And some are still set to debut during the 2015 auto show season. But these are the machines that keep us going – the things on the horizon that we're particularly stoked to drive, and drive hard. Jeep Renegade Not the Chevrolet Corvette Z06. Not the Ford Mustang GT350. Not the new John Cooper Works Mini. Nope, I'm looking forward to the adorable, trail-rated Jeep Renegade. And that's because I really, really, really like our long-term Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk. I do not, however, care too much for the Cherokee's looks, and I really don't like its $38,059 price tag. The Renegade Trailhawk, meanwhile, promises much of the same rough-and-tumble character as its big brother, but at what we expect will be a more reasonable price (I'm personally wagering on the baby Jeep's off-road model starting at no more than $23,000). With a 2.4-liter four-cylinder and a nine-speed automatic, it should also be a bit easier to fill than the V6-powered Cherokee. Also, I can't help but love the way the Renegade looks. It's like someone took a Wrangler, squished it by 50 percent and then handed it off to George Clinton for a healthy dose of funk. The interior, with its bright, expressive trims and color schemes should also be a really nice place to spend some time. I'll be attending the Renegade's launch later this month, so I'll have a much shorter wait than my colleagues. Here's hoping the baby Jeep lives up to my expectations. – Brandon Turkus Associate Editor Mazda MX-5 Miata Here's an uncomfortable truth: I'd rather spend a day driving a properly sorted Mazda MX-5 Miata of any generation on a winding road than I would nearly any other vehicle, regardless of power, price or prestige. It's not just that I prize top-down driving and enjoy the Miata's small size because it gives me more road to play with. I just find there's more motoring joy to be had with high-fidelity handling and an uncorrupted car-to-driver communication loop than I do with face-distorting power or grip – let alone valet-stand gravitas. But perhaps most of all, I love Miatas because they can deliver that level of feedback and driver reward at modest speeds that won't put the locals on edge or endanger lives – you can use more of the car more of the time.

GM recalling 70k Chevy Malibus, Pontiac G6s over steering issue

Sun, Feb 15 2015

A problem with the power steering system in the Chevy Malibu and Pontiac G6 has prompted General Motors and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to issue a recall for an estimated 69,633 vehicles. The issue revolves around the electric power steering assist, which could suddenly fail and increase the risk of a crash, especially at low speeds where the power steering is most helpful. The recall affects 2006-2007 Chevy Malibu sedans and Malibu Maxx wagons (specifically those manufactured between April 1, 2006, and June 30, 2006), as well as the Pontiac G6 (which was offered as a sedan, coupe or convertible) from the same model years and manufactured from April 18, 2006, to June 30, 2006. Owners of the affected units can expect to hear from the manufacturer with instructions to bring in their vehicles to their local dealers to have the torque sensors in the power steering system replaced. RECALL Subject : Sudden Loss of Electric Power Steering , 1 INVESTIGATION(S) Report Receipt Date: FEB 04, 2015 NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V064000 Component(s): STEERING Potential Number of Units Affected: 69,633 Manufacturer: General Motors LLC SUMMARY: General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2006-2007 Chevrolet Malibu and Malibu Maxx vehicles manufactured April 1, 2006, to June 30, 2006, and 2006-2007 Pontiac G6 vehicles manufactured April 18, 2006, to June 30, 2006. In the affected vehicles, there may be a sudden loss of electric power steering (EPS) assist that could occur at any time while driving. CONSEQUENCE: If power steering assist is lost, greater driver effort would be required to steer the vehicle at low speeds, increasing the risk of a crash. REMEDY: GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the torque sensor assembly, free of charge. The manufacturer has not yet provided a notification schedule. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 or Pontiac customer service at 1-800-762-2737. GM's number for this recall is 14772. Note: This is an expansion of recall 14V-153 to cover additional vehicles built between April 1, 2006 and June 30, 2006. NOTES: Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

Pure Vision Design TT Camaro has 1,400 reasons to want it

Wed, 06 Nov 2013

We've talked about Pure Vision Design before, a California-based company that made waves at last year's SEMA show with its Martini-liveried, Indy-car-powered Ford Mustang. That same car later starred in a Petrolicious video we showed you just a few weeks back. The company's latest creation is a menacing car it calls the Pure Vision Design TT Camaro. Based on a 1972 model, this car shares the Martini Mustang's clean styling and obsession with details.
Unlike the Mustang, which draws its power from a mid-60s Lotus-Ford Indycar engine, the "TT" in this Camaro's name implies something far more potent. The Nelson Racing Engines 427-cubic-inch V8 has been fitted with a pair of turbochargers, with a claimed output of 1,400 horsepower. That's almost 1,000 more than the Martini Mustang.
A six-speed Magnum transmission dispatches that power to the ground, while Pirelli PZero tires are tasked with (somehow) trying to grip the road. Baer brakes hide behind those HRE rims, while JRI coilovers and HyperTech springs bless the Camaro with some degree of competency in the bends.
