Up for auction this week is a 1971 Chevrolet Monte Carlo with THE original 350 motor,Turbo 350 transmission, and rear end. All numbers match to this car down to the carb. I bought this car a year ago from the original owner who really loved this car for years. Stored in a heated garage for years, this Monte Carlo really has held up over the years. The engine and tranny leak nothing! Whats that worth to you?
The car, when i found it, just needed a paint job and a new rug kit.  The car was stripped down to bare metal, epoxy primer applied and high build primer to follow.  Block sanded, wet sanded and a Basecoat/Clearcoat was applied by the professionals at Bellevue Macco. Yeah I know what your thinking, not another Macco job, well when you spend time with the guys who actually do the work on the car, and buy them lunch everyday while the car is in their shop, you really would be surprised just what a great job Macco can do for you.  With that said the car turned out amazing!  Car is LASER straight.Car has yet to be color sanded and buffed and polished yet. Still the way the car sits it looks stunning.
Engine compartment was addressed as well and looks factory fresh. All the original AC hoses and wire ties from the factory are still on the car. The AC compressor turns freely and i have the belt for the AC but have yet to put it on.
New battery,Alternator, starter, heater core which was a pain to have removed and replaced has been done. New RUG was installed as well as new seat skins front and rear. I have a brand new headliner which goes with the car as well as a new package tray same color, blue, to go with car too.
Seats look and feel amazing when sitting in the car. This Monte has had a new vinyl top applied by the guy here locally at Jimmy's auto interiors. It fits nicely and is snug with no looseness.  Top looks incredible!
Front and rear windows were taken out when the car was painted. New seals front and rear were done and this leaks nothing.
The car also sports a brand new 2 1/2 inch exhaust with new mufflers that sound good, but not loud. all the way out the back. Then Mr. Tint in Bellevue professionally installed the window tint. Car looks fabulous with the tint. I get compliments where ever i go.
15 inch Chevy Rally rims with Vector tires that are 225/17/15's which are balanced nicely and rides right and are almost new. Plenty of tread left, 90% tread left.
Trunk compartment has been detailed with the factory splatter paint and then clear coated. SOLID trunk and quarter panels. Floor boards are equally as solid.  Underside of car has been undercoated and detailed. All the gas lines from the front to the rear were cleaned with steel wool and look great as well as the brake lines. Shocks in rear are new and work great.
Heater in the car works well, so does all the lights.  Head lights, turn signals, brake lights and even the license plate works without problems. Wipers work fine and all the gauges on the dash work.
New door rubber seals and trunk were installed and does not leak.  The chrome on the car is still very shiny.  Car must have been garaged all its life for the chrome to still shine like it does. The car has ALL the chrome trim on the car. New wheel well chrome and rear window chrome was bought due to small scratches in the old ones. Front chrome around window looks great!
I have a clear Washington state title in my name and ready to transfer to new owner.
If you have ANY questions or concern with this car, I have no problem chatting with you and filling you in on what I know about the car. You can call and talk to any or all the folks who worked on the car at their businesses, no problem.  I just want both of us to be on the same page when you purchase the car. ASK QUESTIONS please, i would if i'm buying a car sight unseen.
I have a great shipper that i use that has been very competitive in pricing over the years for me and they are great. Royal Auto Transport out of California. Ameer can help you with the specifics of getting the car from me to you.  Please feel free to call him or his staff and see what kind of rate you can get for shipping.  They're number is 866-992-8860.

Seeing that this car is 42 years old, there is no warranties that accompany this car and its sold in As Is condition.
Please check with your wife and or girlfriend to make sure your purchase doesn't get you in trouble. I've heard a lot of excuses for not buying a car on Ebay after someone has WON the car over several bidders.  Let me say that folks that buy a car and then back out it a load of horse poop.  New bidders or bidders with less that 10 of a ebay score will need to contact me if you intend to bid.  If you NEED a photo of the car that i have not provided, please let me know and I will add a photo or two of the car that you request.
This car is in amazing shape and shines like a diamond.  If you really like this body style, this is a great chance to get a great car.
Fly in and take a look or have someone come and look at it for you.
Thanks for looking and have a great day.

Best and Worst GM Cars

Thu, Apr 7 2022

Oh yes, because we just love receiving angry letters from devoted Pontiac Grand Am enthusiasts, we have decided to go there. Based on a heated group Slack conversation, the topic came up about the best and worst GM cars. First of all time, and then those currently on sale, and then just mostly a rambling discussion of Oldsmobiles our parents and grandparents owned (or engineered). Eventually, three of us made the video above. Like it? Maybe we can make more. Many awesome GM cars are definitely going unmentioned here, so please let us know your bests and worsts in the comments below. Mostly, it's important to note that this post largely exists as a vehicle for delivering the above video that dives far deeper into GM's greatest hits and biggest flops, specifically those from the 1980s and 1990s. What you'll find below is a collection of our editors identifying a best current and best-of-all-time choice, plus a worst current and worst-of-all-time choice. Comprehensive it is not, but again, comments. -Senior Editor James Riswick Best Current GM Vehicle Chevrolet Corvette We were flying by the seats of our pants a bit in this first outing and my notes were similarly extemporaneous. When it came time to tie it all together on camera, I failed spectacularly. Thank the maker for text, because this gives me the opportunity to perhaps slightly better explain my convoluted reasoning. I chose the C8 Corvette because it's simply overwhelmingly good, and it's merely the baseline from which this generation of Corvette will be expanded.  While the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing (more on that in a minute) is an amazing snapshot of GM's current performance standing and its little sibling so enraptured me that I went out and bought one, their existence is fleeting. Corvette will live on; forced-induction Cadillac sport sedans, not so much. So while all three are amazing machines when viewed in a vacuum, the Corvette stands above them as both a reflection of GM's current performance credentials and a signpost of what is to come. So, given the choice between the C8 and the 5V-Blackwing right now, I'd choose the C8. In 10 years, when the Blackwing is no longer in production and Corvette is in its 9th generation? Well, that might be a different story. Now, just pretend I said something even remotely that coherent when we get to the part of the video where I try to make an argument for the 5-V Blackwing as best GM car I've ever driven. Or just laugh at me while I ramble incoherently.

Editors' Picks August 2021 | Honda Civic, Mercedes S-Class and more

Thu, Sep 9 2021

This month of Editors' Picks saw us award the honor to a couple of redesigned stalwarts like the Honda Civic and Mercedes-Benz S-Class. Plus, a new crossover that splits the difference between the compact and subcompact class takes home the prize. On top of this, we'll introduce you to a new term: midcompact. We'll be using this to describe those in-between crossovers that are a tad too small to be considered compact, but too large to neatly fit into the subcompact class. For a few examples of these "midcompact" cars, we'll point you to the Ford Bronco Sport, Kia Seltos and VW Seltos. In case you missed our previous Editors' Picks posts, here’s a quick refresher on whatÂ’s going on here. We rate all the new cars we drive with a 1-10 score. Cars that are exemplary in their respective segments get EditorsÂ’ Pick status. Those are the ones weÂ’d recommend to our friends, family and anybody whoÂ’s curious and asks the question. The list that youÂ’ll find below consists of every car we rated in August that earned an EditorsÂ’ Pick. 2021 Genesis G70 2022 Genesis G70 View 26 Photos Quick take: Genesis hits all the right buttons with its G70. It's attractive, fun to drive and can be had for a fair price. Enthusiasts should give it a shot before taking home one of its German competitors. Score: 8 What it competes with: Alfa Romeo Giulia, Lexus IS, Acura TLX, Infiniti Q50, Audi A4, BMW 3 Series, Mercedes-Benz C-Class, Cadillac CT4, Volvo S60 Pros: Sharp handler, stunning exterior looks, strong engines Cons: Average interior, loses manual option, small backseat and trunk From the editors: News Editor Joel Stocksdale — "I was already a big fan of the Genesis G70. It has brilliant handling, and the twin-turbo V6 is a beast. It's even a bargain against the competition. And Genesis just made it look a lot better. I wish they'd done a bit more to update the interior, but it's still not a bad cabin. Besides, you won't think too much about it when you're hustling down a fun back road." Features Editor James Riswick — "Yes, it is small, but in a sport sedan segment where "sport" means increasingly less, the G70 still delivers (in part because of that smallness).

Chevy Volt replacement battery cost varies wildly, up to $34,000

Fri, Jan 10 2014

There's a growing hubbub in the plug-in vehicle community over what looks like some ridiculously cheap replacement batteries for the Chevrolet Volt going up for sale. GM Parts Online, for example, is selling a replacement Volt battery with an MSRP of $2,994.64 but, with an online discount, the price comes down to $2,305.88. For the 16-kWh pack in the 2012 Volt, that comes to a very low $144.11 per kilowatt hour (kWH). But is it a real deal? How can it be, when a Chevy dealer may quote you a price of up to $34,000 to replace the pack? For a 16-kWh Volt pack, $2,305.88 comes to a very low $144.11 per kWh. But is it a real deal? Battery packs in alternative propulsion vehicles are usually priced by the kWh and, historically, they've been thought to be in the range of $500-per-kWh for OEM offerings. Since automakers are understandably secretive about their costs, we still don't know what the real number is today, but we do know it varies by automaker. Tesla, for example, has said it pays less than $200-per-kWH at the cell level but, of course, a constructed pack would be more. Whatever is going on, li-ion battery prices are trending downward. So, $144.11 certainly sounds great, but what's the story here? Kevin Kelly, manager of electrification technology communications for General Motors, reminded AutoblogGreen that GM Parts Online is not the official GM parts website and that, "the costs indicated on the site are not what we would charge our dealers or owners for a replacement battery. There would be no cost to the Volt owner if their battery needs replacement or repair while the battery is under the eight year/100,000 mile limited warranty coverage provided by Chevrolet." A single price tag also can't be accurate for everyone, Kelly said. "If the customer needs to have their battery repaired beyond the warranty, the cost to them would vary depending on what needs to be replaced or repaired (i.e. number of modules, which specific internal components need replacement, etc.)." he said. "So, it's hard for us to tell you exactly what the cost would be to the customer because it varies depending on what might need to be repaired/replaced. As a result, the core charge would vary." But, is the $2,300 price even accurate for anyone? Thanks to a reader comment, we see that this similar item on New GM Parts makes it look like the lithium-ion modules that Kelly mentioned – where a lot of the expensive bits are – are not included.
