Up for auction is a very nice 1971 Chevrolet Monte Carlo with the original engine and drive train still intact.  Car runs, drives, and stops unusually well. The 350 engine purrs with lots of power and leaks NOTHING. What that worth to you?

The transmission shifts like it should for a Turbo 350 and leaks nothing as well. The car's option are as follows. AC, which is hooked up but the belt is not on the compressor. Im including the new belt with the car as well as a NEW headliner and package tray which i have not installed as of now.
The car has a brand new Basecoat/Clearcoat and the factory Mulsanne Blue applied. It has not been color sanded yet, so there is alittle texture on the car. Its a real nice paint job from the guys here at Macco. I spent 2,800 dollars and it was grounded down to bare metal.  The car also has a brand new vinyl top from Year One that was professionally installed. The heater core was replaced last month and a new rug was installed.  New seat skins are on the car when I bought it and they show well. No rips or werid seams.
I had a NEW 2.5 inch exhaust with mufflers installed last month and they sound incredible. Not too loud and not too soft, just right tone.
Someone had to replace the ball joint because they have the bolt on ball joints instead of the riveted, so someone has gone through the front end.  Brakes are front disc up front and rear drums. Car stops on a dime in dry weather. New pads and shoes were installed. The car has a tilt column which works perfectly. All the head, tail, dash, running lights and reverse lights even work.  Car leaks NOTHING! What is that worth to YOU? New alternator, battery, plugs and wires and a Pertronics unit was installed in the distributor. Runs smooth and drives solid. These gentlemen muscle cars are very wide and fill up the lane on the road.
The chrome on this car is in great shape. Both front and rear bumpers are in amazing shape and are not faded or rusty at all.  New door sills were installed when they put the rug in.
Car has a aftermarket stereo installed with speakers in the package tray. I bought the new package tray so you can mount the speakers below the package tray instead of the way the previous owner installed them.
New weatherstripping around the doors and trunk have been replaced after the car was painted. The front windshield is NEW and installed by a local mobile glass company. At the same time the rear window was removed and resealed after being cleaned and prepped for installation AFTER new vinyl top was installed.
The car has a nice set of Chevrolet rally rims that are 15 inches with a good set of center caps and trim rings.  The car has a full size 15 inch spare tire on a factory mag wheel like the rest of the car. The car still has ALL of its bumper jack, base of jack and all the tools that have been restored as well.
The trunk has been DRY its entire life and it shows. The factory splatter paint has been applied and is factory correct in color.
The under side of the car is in amazing shape as well. Attention to detail is evident all over this car from all the factory correct hose ties still in place to keep hoses attached to its proper place. Most of these are long gone.
If there is a particular photo of the car that you would like to see, please contact me and i will be happy to get that photo to you.
If there is something that I havent filled you in on about this car, please email me with any concerns or questions. I want to be on the same page as the person who is thinking of bidding on this car.
The car is 42 years old so it is being sold in AS IS condition with no expressed warranty.
I have a great shipper I have used for years, Royal Auto Transport. Ameer can help you with your shipping needs and he is competitive with other shippers to get you the best rate possible.
Thank you for checking out my auction and happy bidding.

Toyota tops Kelley Blue Book's Resale Value Awards

Tue, 27 Nov 2012

Kelley Blue Book announced its annual Best Resale Value Award winners, and we weren't too surprised to see the list dominated by Japanese automakers - mainly Toyota and Honda. KBB hands out the awards based on the projected residual value of mostly all 2013 model year vehicles, and Toyota skated home with a number of awards including 10 of the 22 overall categories and having five of its products in the top 10 for models with best resale value. KBB's Best Resale Value Awards were announced in the same week as the ALG Residual Value Awards, and there were many similarities between both lists, especially when it came to Toyota.
To come up with its winners, KBB measures depreciation over the first five years of ownership, and looks for the cars it expects to hold its value the best after this time; on average, the report says the 2013 model year vehicles will lose 61.8 percent of its value in five years. Of the 22 categories, 15 slots were filled by Toyota, Honda and Nissan products, while the Camaro and Porsche (Cayenne and Panamera) each took home a pair of awards. If Toyota has anything to be upset about in this list of cars, it's that categories for Hybrid/Alternative Energy Car and Electric Vehicle went to the Ford Fusion and Chevrolet Volt, respectively.
The overall top 10 models for the best resale value in 2013 are, in alphabetical order:

Car and Driver reveals spy shots of mid-engine 2017 Corvette

Thu, Jan 8 2015

Some news in the car world is perennial, and some is perennially wrong. Typically news about some upcoming mid-engined Chevy Corvette has fallen into the latter category, with rumors never yet generating a road car. This time could very well be different. Car and Driver has some exclusive photographs of what would appear to be a Corvette test mule with a mid-mounted engine. The car in question might look like a Holden SSV ute that's undergone some indelicate modification, but C/D editor Don Sherman assures that the bones of a C8 'Vette live within that crude bodywork. Sherman points to the closeness of the cabin to the front axle as clue number one of this car's mid-engine attitude, as well as the powertrain-sized space between the back of the seats and the rear axle. The roof and glasshouse are all clearly plucked from the current C7, and the gas tank filler positioned on the B-pillar is another huge clue. The buff book estimates that the mule points to a timeline for sale, even. Testing on this level could mean a mid-engined C8 ready for sale in as few as 20 months, or for the 2017 model year. Click over to Car and Driver to have a close look at this important set of spy photographs, as well as a rendering of what a finished C8 might ultimately look like

2015 Chevrolet Trax

Thu, Dec 4 2014

After the obligatory product presentation for the 2015 Trax, I caught up with Steve Majoros, Chevrolet's director of marketing for crossovers and cars, and asked him to elaborate on which markets his planners believe will be the hot starters for this tiny CUV. Without much hesitation, Majoros began to click off traditional sales havens for Subaru, namely, New England and the snowy bits of the East Coast, Colorado and the Pacific Northwest. That news might not surprise you, but it did me. Perhaps it's something as basic as the Trax's tall-hatchback looks, or the emphasis Chevrolet put on the urban driving cycle during my test in San Diego. But before my chat with Majoros, I'd considered this a crossover pointed at the Millennial city mouse more than his bumpkin cousin. But a closer look had me re-examining the granola cred of Chevy's smallest crossover. Having spent my fair share of time in New England and around New Englanders, I started by mentally listing the Trax's Subaru-like traits: practicality, thrift, all-weather ability and, well, just a dash of ugliness. (I suppose a hatchback needn't always be ugly to sell in Maine, or Boulder or Portland... but a 'distinctive' face doesn't seem to hurt.) After a day of driving through sunny San Diego and its surroundings, I can say that Trax makes an interesting case for itself against the standard bearers of the L.L. Bean set, but I'm less sure of its argument for young urbanites. The Trax looks a lot like an Equinox whose suit shrunk in the wash. Chevy's has downsized its own, rather conservative crossover styling to fit the proportions of the subcompact Trax; to my eyes, it looks a lot like an Equinox whose suit shrunk in the wash. That's fine for offering a cohesive look for the Chevy family of crossovers, but it seems out of step with the rest of the segment. If the Trax's current competitive set were the cast of a high school-based TV show, the Kia Soul would play the lovable nerd, the Nissan Juke perhaps the outsider musician and the Subaru XV Crosstrek the athletic outdoorsy kid. Chevy may see the Trax as the hipster chick wearing intentionally ironic mom jeans, but to me the styling is a little too on the nose; more like an actual grownup trying to hang with the kids. These mom jeans are genuine. Per my earlier point, that quasi-conservative look may be just fast enough for staid New Englanders, but I have a hard time seeing the bluff, big-Bowtied front end playing in Bushwick or Wicker Park.
