67 Malibu 469 Cu. In. 5-speed Manual Street Or Strip, Hot Rod Black on 2040-cars
Mansfield, Ohio, United States
It lived most of it's life as a drag racer in Florida. I had it shipped to Ohio in 2007 and it has been garaged ever since. The interior consists only of 2 racing seats and a dash. I truly believe the sheet metal is all original except for the fiberglass cowl induction hood, trunk deck, bumpers. It is an absolute monster! I intended to make it a street car, but I decided that was too big a project for me. I wiped out the a new Lunatti cam and was afraid the metal went through the engine, so I took it to a machine shop and had it cleaned and rebuilt. Here is what it is now: 1967 Chevele Malibu 2 door hardtop - Solid body with very, very little filler 469 engine (Mark IV 454 bored .070 over) New Comp Cams cam kit (K11-250-3) includes: Extreme Energy hydraulic flat tappet cam # 11-250-3 (Lift: .574/.578, Duration: 284/296) and matched lifters, springs, retainers, valve seals (NOTE: Pete Jackson Gear Drive used in place of Comp Cams timing chain set) Stock iron heads (mildly ported) New Probe forged pistons with Hastings rings Big stainless steel exhaust valves Scorpion 1.7 roller rockers A.R.P. studs Moroso Deep Sump Oil Pan w/new high volume oil pump New High Torque mini starter New Holley Strip Dominator 300-4 aluminum intake Holley 4150 Double Pumper Dual Feed 750 cfm carb Holley electric fuel pump, regulator, pressure gauge Braided stainless steel fuel lines Battery and fuel pump relocated to trunk Battery disconnect switch MSD ingnition Mallory Unilite distributor w/new gear New Taylor Spark Plug Wires New 63 amp alternator Milodon tall valve covers New Aluminum Radiator w/dual electric fans ARC Switch Panel 4.56 gear in original NON-narrowed 67 Chevelle 12 bolt rear end Traction ladders and wheelie bars (you'll need 'em) Doug Nash/Richmond 5-speed manual transmission (rated to 1,000 hp) New Centerforce Dual Friction racing clutch and pressure plate Lakewood Safety Bell Housing New aluminum flywheel Hurst Competition Plus shifter Moroso Big Block Trick Springs on front RCI fuel cell w/foam baffle New Mickey Thompson ET Street 315/60-R15 Drag Radials on Dragstars on back Moroso Drag Special 7.60/15x4" on skinny Dragstars on front New hooker headers bolted to new Flowmaster mufflers w/3" turndowns New AutoMeter 5" Silver Sport Comp tach w/shift light New AutoMeter Voodoo water temp, oil pressure, voltage gauges (all white-faced) 6-point roll cage and new racing seats Fiberglass 2" cowl induction hood, trunk deck, front and rear bumpers New grille Freshly body shop painted in Hot Rod Black (looks pretty sinister) I have a clear Ohio title in hand. In fairness to all bidders, I will not disclose the reserve and there is not buy-it-now price. If it doesn't make reserve, I might sell it to the highest bidder. |

GM finds steering flaw, decides it doesn't warrant a recall
Tue, Apr 14 2015Guess what? General Motors is back in the spotlight for not recalling something. This time, though, not only does the company have an argument against a recall campaign, but its position is supported by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. According to The New York Times, over 50 owners of GM vehicles have reported instances of stuck or seized steering after driving long distances without moving the wheel. One owner complained to NHTSA that the "locked" steering of their 2013 Buick Verano caused a collision with a concrete barrier in a construction zone. Along with the 2013 to 2014 model year Verano sedans, Chevrolet Cruze and Malibu sedans are also affected. Considering the popularity of those models, GM needs to have a reason for not issuing a recall, right? "Based on a very low rate of occurrence – ranging from less than one half to less than two incidents per thousand vehicles – and the fact that the condition is remedied when the wheel is turned, GM determined this was not a safety issue," spokesman Alan Adler told The Times. The company has, however, issued a technical service bulletin for owners that complain of the problem. The fix is nothing more than a software update that is covered for 10 years or 150,000 miles from new. NHTSA cited GM's actions, along with descriptions of the problems from customers, in its decision not to issue a recall, with spokeswoman Catherine Howden saying, "the symptoms described would be a brief, perceptible change in steering feel that has little to no effect on the driver's ability to safely steer the vehicle." "When terms like 'notchy,' 'stick,' 'slip' or 'feel' are used, it does not indicate a meaningful increase in steering effort," Howden told The Times via email. What do you think? Is GM in the wrong here? Should there be a recall, or is the issue so limited as to not warrant one? Have your say in Comments. The Opel GT is the concept General Motors should build for the US
Sat, Feb 27 2016Now is the time. General Motors should double-down on performance cars and build the Opel GT concept that's set to debut next week at the Geneva Motor Show. Better yet, sell it in the United States as the Chevy GT. Consumers are showing a thirst for performance cars not seen in decades. Ford has them coming in waves, with everything from the F-150 Raptor to a hotted-up Fusion. FCA US is unrepentantly building loads of Hellcats. GM should respond. The General's cupboard is hardly bare. With the Corvette, Camaro, and Cadillac's V-Series, GM has more than enough to compete with its crosstown rivals and anything Europe or Japan can throw at it. But there's also an opportunity. There's not many front-mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive, two-seat sports cars out there like the Opel GT concept. A Chevy GT that used that layout and captured some of the concept car's proportions and curves would ignite a different kind of passion in enthusiasts. It would be Miata-like. With Chevy branding, this sports car would be the everyday exotic. The concept has a turbocharged 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine, which makes about 143 horsepower to motivate a structure that weighs less than 2,200 pounds. It can hit 60 miles per hour in less than eight seconds. All of those numbers are within the front-engined Miata's territory. This new Opel is inspired by two great mid-1960s concepts that helped put its design studio, and that of its sister brand, the British Vauxhall, on the map. (The GT concept is also technically a Vauxhall, as the brands are linked in GM's European strategy.) One of them, the '66 Vauxhall XVR remained a concept. The '65 Opel Experimental GT was on the road by 1968. That shows this is doable. There's precedent. The Saturn Sky and Pontiac Solstice shared a chassis with a modern GT during that trio's brief run. If GM ever makes this concept, Opel and Vauxhall should get their versions. But Chevy is the one that could make this car a global icon. Chevrolet GT. Make it happen. News & Analysis News: The potential return of the Ford Bronco is generating a ton of attention. Analysis: That's not news, per se. But when the Bronco6G.com fan site did a rendering of a next-generation Bronco, it almost broke the Internet. Everyone from Automotive News to Jalopnik picked up the illustrations. Our own post has drawn a lot of traffic and passionate responses. People are clamoring for the Bronco's return.
Super Bowl LVII car commercial roundup: Watch them all here
Mon, Feb 13 2023Fewer automakers than usual spent money advertising during Super Bowl LVII. In total, there were only five traditional ad spots from three big OEMs. A number of car-adjacent ads aired during the Big Game, too, and we’ll bring you those ads in this roundup alongside the more obvious ones. WeÂ’ve compiled all of the automotive-related commercials for you here in this post so you donÂ’t have to go searching for them elsewhere. Read on below to see what aired as the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Philadelphia Eagles. Ram's Super Bowl spot offers a cure for 'Premature Electrification' This commercial revealed the new electric Ram Rev pickup, and itÂ’s themed like a prescription ad for an antidote to "Premature Electrification.” A concerned narrator in the Ram spot asks if you're afraid that going electric too soon will mean "you might not be able to last as long as you like," and there's a guy on a pier who's going to need some new equipment if he wants to catch fish. We're also told there are "options being designed to extend range in satisfying ways," so if this truck isn't right for you, you have choices. All the commercial's missing is a silly medical marketing name and six seconds of speed-reading gibberish about side effects like intestinal bleeding and death. Which are two more good things. Jeep 4xe Super Bowl commercial highlights modern version of 'Electric Boogie' JeepÂ’s “Electric Boogie” commercial follows the Wrangler 4xe and Grand Cherokee 4xe in a variety of simulated off-road situations. Though fun, the soundtrack is the real star of the show. The songÂ’s original artist, Marcia Griffiths, was joined by Grammy winner Shaggy, Jamila Falak, Amber Lee, and Moyann on the track. The modernized re-recording celebrates 40 years since GriffithsÂ’ original track, and Jeep says the track is available for streaming now. Kia returns to the Super Bowl with the tale of 'Binky Dad' This year, Kia follows the adventure of "Binky Dad" in his quest to fetch his daughter's lost pacifier, which naturally takes him over just about every bit of terrain you might encounter upon leaving the civilized confines of Southern California for the not-so-civilized mountains of ... probably also California. It features the refreshed 2023 Kia Telluride, which probably doesnÂ’t need much advertising to see these days, but Kia went for it with the strong three-row SUV anyway.
