This has been pretty much a "daily driver" vehicle.

This car is being sold primarily because I have discovered that entry and exit into this vehicle has been aggravating leg injuries sustained almost 6 years ago. In short, this car is too small for me. If the car were not contributing to daily pain, I would be keeping it!

General Condition

This car is 11 model years old, and it to be expected to have some problems/issues.

The engine is running strong. It consumes about 3/4 quart of oil every 3,000 miles, which is considered "acceptable". (Please see this link from GasBuddy.com: http://newjerseygasprices.com/News_Page.aspx?id=71266&category=1357&topic=539401&page_no=1&ign=1)

The transmission is good. On occasion, if you do not keep an eye on the coolant reservoir, the torque converter solenoid "locks off", and you feel a hard shift from 1st to 2d. When this occurs, it is pretty much a warning that you need to add coolant to the reservoir. This is not a major detriment, but I wish to share this!

This car has a current, valid NJ motor vehicle inspection. The current inspection expires May 2014. In order to pass this last inspection, I had to replace the catalytic converter. As the rule of thumb for computing mileage, I am seeing about 22 mpg for "around town" driving, and anywhere from 25-28 mpg for long trip/highway driving. These figures result from my driving style. Your results could vary based on your driving style.

Interior

The interior is very sound, no tears or stains have been identified. The air conditioning works well, as does the heat. The radio (a Delco AM/FM Stereo w/ CD) works well with good sound.

Known Problems

1) The power mirrors: do not respond to the controller. I have no clue as to why.

2) Rear passenger window: does not always respond to either the driver master switch, or the door switch. I do not know if this is a regulator issue, motor issue, or switch/wiring issue. The window is up and stays up.

3) The lower duct work had to be removed to repair a leak in the heater cooling shroud. Originally, the leak was presumed to be a failed heater core, but the fan motor regulator had melted a small hole in the shroud, which has been repaired. All parts are on hand. If my pain levels drop and I have the time before the car sells, I will re-install this duct work. Hard to work under the dash with only 1 good arm.

4) The metal around the gas filler is "bubbling", but there is not any eat thru rust. Please see the picture.

5) The wheel well lips have "dents" from a previous owner. This damage was fixed prior to my ownership with "touch up paint", but the "dents" were not filled in. The damage appears to have resulted from shopping carts and related parking lot "encounters".

Extra Parts

I will be selling this car with the following parts for service that was supposed to be performed, but not completed due to injuries:

1) All parts that would be typically needed for a tune-up (i.e.: spark plugs, wires, filters)

2) One set of drum brake pads

3) When I replaced the front brakes, I replaced the rotors, with the intention of having the "original" rotors cut for the next brake job.

General Information

I am NOT the original owner. I bought this car used from Thrift Auto Sales (Morristown, NJ) in January of 2011, and has provided reliable service. I can not attest to any issues prior to my purchasing the car. As will be indicated on the accompanying Vehicle History Report, this car was involved in an accident while I owned it. A novice driver (the ink on her license was still wet) ran a traffic light and clipped the front of the car. The car was repaired by Cornell's Auto Body in Egg Harbor City, NJ as an authorized repair center utilized by Teachers' Auto Insurance Company of NJ. During my ownership, this car was never "smoked" in. I have religiously changed the motor oil every 3000-3500 miles. Any delays in changing the oil were due to weather and injury pain.

Selling Price

Kelly Blue Book pricing for this car is:

Excellent Condition: $4027

Very Good Condition: $3752

Good Condition: $3602

Fair Condition: $2877

I personally feel this car is in very good condition, considering its age and mileage. However, I am a realist and acknowledge that this car is not perfect. Therefore, I am asking $3400 (or best offer). I will not insult you by seeking an excellent condition car price, please do not insult me by offering a salvage yard offer!

Purchasing

I require a $200 deposit paid to PayPal within 48 hours of either your acceptance of my price, or my acceptance of your reasonable offer. Final payment may be either cash at time of pick up, check/money order (which must clear before the title is released) of payment of balance in full via PayPal. If your deposit is via "electronic check" to PayPal, this must clear in addition to any other check/money order payment before the title is released. I was burned once before.

Delivery

I will offer to deliver this car to you at the rate of $1 per loaded mile. If you wish for me to deliver to you, the car MUST be paid for and all payments cleared before I bring the car to you. Additionally, the cost of delivery must be "pre-paid" to my PayPal account (being on pension and disability, I have little in the line of disposable income!). To compute the cost of delivery, I will use MapQuest.com and identify the point of origin as 5401 Harding Highway, Mays Landing, NJ 08330 to the delivery point you specify. (If you use the police station or post office for your town, that is fine ... and I will deliver to your home or point of choosing at no extra cost.)

Listing End

I reserve the right to end this listing early, since this car is being advertised locally.

This car is being sold "As Is/Where Is", and no returns will be accepted.

No warranties implied or expressed.

2014 Chevy Corvette Stingray order guide hits the web

Mon, 15 Apr 2013

The official debut of the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is only part of the excitement for fans of Chevy's virtuoso sportscar. Although we got to see the car and some of its preliminary specs in Detroit and Geneva, there is still no word on pricing and some of the juicier data points we've been waiting for - such as confirmed power output, EPA estimated mileage figures and performance numbers. Until then, CorvetteBlogger has gotten its hands on the order guide for the coupe version of the car - in both base and Z51 iterations - revealing tidbits like standard and optional features and available color combinations.
Some other new details made it onto the order guide, such as our first interior specs for the coupe including slightly less hip room and headroom, more shoulder room and the same amount of legroom. To see the full order guide, head on over to CorvetteBlogger. From what we can gather, it sounds like more information will be revealed on April 25 during a party at the Corvette Museum, and for those sun worshipers patiently waiting for a convertible, it would appear you've got another model year to wait through.

GM finds steering flaw, decides it doesn't warrant a recall

Tue, Apr 14 2015

Guess what? General Motors is back in the spotlight for not recalling something. This time, though, not only does the company have an argument against a recall campaign, but its position is supported by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. According to The New York Times, over 50 owners of GM vehicles have reported instances of stuck or seized steering after driving long distances without moving the wheel. One owner complained to NHTSA that the "locked" steering of their 2013 Buick Verano caused a collision with a concrete barrier in a construction zone. Along with the 2013 to 2014 model year Verano sedans, Chevrolet Cruze and Malibu sedans are also affected. Considering the popularity of those models, GM needs to have a reason for not issuing a recall, right? "Based on a very low rate of occurrence – ranging from less than one half to less than two incidents per thousand vehicles – and the fact that the condition is remedied when the wheel is turned, GM determined this was not a safety issue," spokesman Alan Adler told The Times. The company has, however, issued a technical service bulletin for owners that complain of the problem. The fix is nothing more than a software update that is covered for 10 years or 150,000 miles from new. NHTSA cited GM's actions, along with descriptions of the problems from customers, in its decision not to issue a recall, with spokeswoman Catherine Howden saying, "the symptoms described would be a brief, perceptible change in steering feel that has little to no effect on the driver's ability to safely steer the vehicle." "When terms like 'notchy,' 'stick,' 'slip' or 'feel' are used, it does not indicate a meaningful increase in steering effort," Howden told The Times via email. What do you think? Is GM in the wrong here? Should there be a recall, or is the issue so limited as to not warrant one? Have your say in Comments. Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat vs. Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 in latest Head 2 Head

Fri, Jan 30 2015

"Olympian" is one of the terms we use to signify the greatest height, the seat of the gods. Yet Mt. Olympus is the second-highest peak in the Balkans ranges, overshadowed by the crest at Musala in Bulgaria's Rila mountains. Both great heights, but one is a little higher. That's how we get the Olympian Chevy Camaro ZL1 pitched at the Musalic Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat in Motor Trend's latest episode of Head 2 Head. The side-by-side spec sheet is filled with farcical numbers. For the ZL1, that's a 6.2-liter V8 with 580 horsepower, 556 pound-feet of torque, a 4,051-pound curb weight, 0-to-60 miles per hour in 3.9 seconds, a quarter-mile time of 12.2 seconds and a base price of just $57,800. Opposing that, the Hellcat wrings out its 6.2-liter V8 for 707 hp, 650 lb-ft of torque, weighs 4,449 pounds, does the quarter in 11.7 seconds and has a base price of just $60,990. Except in the case of the Hellcat, when Motor Trend put it on the dyno the machine spit out a reading of 672 hp and 606 lb-ft at the wheels. If there's a 10-percent driveline loss through those beefed-up internals and heavy-duty eight-speed transmission, that means the Hellcat is actually rated at about 750 horsepower and 700 lb-ft. But once they get put on a closed-off strip of coast road in Northern California, there are only a few strands of hair between their respective performances. That's not the case for they sensations provide; host Jonny Lieberman calls one of them, "One of the most incredible cars ever made," and says, "It changes everything." Watch the video above to see who got the verdict and how. Related Video:
