1970 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu Hardtop 2-door 5.7l Factory Muncie 4sp & 12-bolt on 2040-cars
Poway, California, United States
1970 Chevrolet Chevelle/Malibu 350 Special ordered on 5/12/1970 from White Allen Chevrolet in Dayton, Ohio by 21yr old Carol Huff. After waiting two months Miss Huff took delivery of her dream Chevelle on July 13,1970. She was a car girl and did her homework ordering her Chevelle with the 300hp 350ci V8, Muncie 4sp, gauge package and 12-bolt differential with a 3.31 posi. She splurged on power front disc brakes but little else. This Chevelle is a base model stripper/street racer, i.e. bench seat, AM radio, dog dish hubcaps and manual steering with a sticker price right at $3200.00. She was not a big fan of the bright colors of the era so her Chevelle was ordered in a more sedate Code 17 Shadow Gray with black interior. Miss Huff had fun driving and racing her Chevelle in Southern Ohio untill she decided to move out to CA in 1975 towing a 12 foot U-Haul trailer behind the Chevelle. She settled in San Diego got married, started a family driving the Chevelle sparingly untill parking it in the early 80's. She reluctantly sold to Chevelle in 1985 to the local and very persistant UPS man that had taken a shine to the Chevelle. Fast forward 29 years to this past January when I was able to purchase the Chevelle from the UPS guy that had put the car in his back yard shortly after buying it from Miss Huff. Weather, time and unfortunately rodents had taken a toll on the once mighty Chevelle. After a good cleaning and a lot of work the Chevelle is once again a running and driving car with current registration and a clean CA title. I was even able to track down the original owner and show her the Chevelle. She related numerous stories and information concerning the Chevelle that add to it's colorful history. Including, why the M-20 Muncie has a build date of 11/21/1970? four months after the build date on the trim tag. As related by Miss Huff the Chevelle was in a minor accident shortly after she took delivery and went to the local Buick dealer (recommended by the family insurance man) for repair. While the Chevelle was languishing in the back lot of the dealership waiting to be repaired the original Muncie was stolen and ultimately replaced by the dealership. The Chevelle was also a victim of a hit and run in the late 70's causing the driver side rear quarter panel to be replaced at Hine Pontiac in San Diego. A rare Chevelle worth restoring with 75K original miles, original numbers matching engine and differential. The Muncie is not original and was replaced when the car was 6 months old. Unmolested engine compartment and uncut dash. Severe rust on driverside a-pillar, rust also visible at base of windshield and under stainless trim. Heavy surface rust on roof and hood. Small holes visible in the passenger side front and rear floorboards. Heavy surface rust on driver side floorboards and trunk floor. Interior in rough shape due to rodents and will need to be completely gone thru. The dash is in surprisingly good shape considering how long it sat uncovered in the back yard. Please look at pictures closely and ask questions. I just received my first negitive feedback from somebody who admitted he did not read the ad text or understand what he was buying. He then made my life miserable because a Barret-Jackson quality car did not roll off the transporter. I do value my feedback and want a happy buyer. If you have any concerns regarding the Chevelle please do not bid. Thank You!

GMC Canyon, Chevy Colorado diesels finally heading to dealers
Fri, Jan 1 2016Customers who have been waiting to receive their diesel-powered Chevrolet Colorados and GMC Canyons should be relived to hear that GM will finally start to ship them out of the Wentzville Assembly Plant. "The highly anticipated 2016 GMC Canyon diesel has begun shipping to dealers," a company spokesperson confirmed to The Detroit News. The trucks originally had a fall launch date, but a final review forced a delay in deliveries. The 2.8-liter four-cylinder diesel in the midsize trucks produces 181 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque, and the company touts the engine's low emissions. The Environmental Protection Agency and California Air Resources Board even put the mill through extra scrutiny with a real world test in the wake of VW's diesel scandal, and the Duramax passed with no problems. At that time, a Chevy spokesperson told Autoblog that the models' launch was on track. The Duramax engine adds $3,730 to the price of a comparable V6 model, but they're the most fuel-efficient pickups on the market. The EPA estimates the twins at 31 miles per gallon highway, 22 mpg city, and 25 mpg combined in two-wheel drive form and 29/20/23 with four-wheel drive. Buyers likely can't wait to finally experience these pickups after reading a heap of positive reviews. The Colorado diesel recently earned Motor Trend's Truck of the Year award. We also came away impressed with it during our First Drive and liked the Canyon during our Quick Spin. Related Video:
Why the Corvette is Chevrolet's billion-dollar baby
Thu, 28 Feb 2013Edmunds has worked up a piece that tries to figure out just how much the global Chevrolet Corvette economy is worth, a spitballed guesstimate putting the number at more than $2.5 billion with the proviso that the number is probably low. It starts by taking Corvette's new car sales of 14,132 units last year, which would equate to $714,725,900 (including destination) assuming ever car sold was a base coupe with no options. In the final tally, a little extra padding gets that number up to $750,000,000.
But that's not all. Consider this: Many of the almost 1.4 million Corvettes produced over the model's history are still on the road. There are new parts being produced and aftermarket companies like Mid-America Motorworks deaing business, that single Illinois company doing more than $40 million a year in sales. There are the Corvette events large and small, restorers who do nothing but Corvettes, salvage yards that deal only in used Corvette parts and the Corvette magazines where owners find all this stuff.
And then there are the Corvette-themed tchotchkes, every single one of which provides a tiny contribution to the huge licensing royalties that General Motors collects every year. The article admits there's no way to come to an accurate number, but it just goes to show how valuable one specific model can be to a company.
