I bought this car a while back on a whim because of its great condition,I really don't have time to restore it as I'm already working on 3 other muscle cars. All I've done to it is change plugs, wires and adjust timing.Runs decent, has some slight smoke when revved.Could just be a rich condition. One of the best examples of a unrestored car I've seen in the southeast rust wise.Original colors were Grean/Green.I don't remember the actaul colot name at the moment. All rust is pictured. It could easily become a driver. Here's everything I can think of mecanical wise.

The Good,
1975 block 350/350 Engine and trans.Heads are 186 double hump with accessory holes dates 3/69
Engine compression between 175 and 188 checked cold and dry.Aftermarket aluminum radiator.
Clean/clear title

The Bad,
Leaks atf fluid from pump,Balancer seal leaks, power steering works, but leaks bad from box,Car has usual bad brakes associated with old drum brakes on all 4 wheels,Weak springs, leans on passenger side,Noise coming from speedo when driving needle bounces,No trunk or door keys, trunk open with screwdriver,Windshield cracked and weathered badly,

The Missing,
Trans dipstick is missing,Engine dipstick is broke off in block if you were to remove header there still plenty to grab on to ,so pulling it out should not be an issue, prvious ower just had a Mr. Gasket one sitting on top of it.There's no inner fenders or battery box. Also the plug wires on it will be replaced with others as these belong to my camaro.

    All rust is pictured
The Body,
Rust hole front bottom driver door
Floor pans solid, small rust spot driver floor board
Bottom rear of front fenders have been patched with a lap joint and spot welded, not professional IMO,but functional. "One side pictured"
Remainder of front fenders and rad support solid, not even pitting on underside of fenders or support.
Bottom rear of both quarters need some small patching, driver more than passenger
Inside of wheel lips need the smallest of metal work as can be seen.
All original quarters!!!
Package tray solid, small amount of rust on weather stripping from deck lid to truck
Dash and metal under rear widow look free and clean of rust from what can be seen which is highly unusual
Trunk floor is still intact, has the usual extensive rust pitting,if making a driver, you could easily epoxy prime undercoat/thin roll on bedliner and splatter paint the floor ad a mat and you would never know if your not looking for a show car.Chalky section in the trunk is where I put phosphoric acid on it to experiment with rust removal then had to leave suddenly,so it was not removed in time.It will come back off with a wire wheel or I believe if you reapply it will become active again and rinse away with water.
All body parts are there that have been removed in pics,Rear bumper is about the same condition as the front fairly straight with bad chrome.
Passenger side rear quarter above bumper has some bondo coming through a hole.
Driver door slightly sags needs adjusted/hinge bushings replaced
Passenger doors outside handle does not work.
Really bad DA work on exterior paint by previous owner
Overall the car has minimal rust in my opinion and is very straight.

This is everything i can think of as of now. Please email me with any other questions you may have.

What car should James Robertson buy to drive his famous 21-mile commute?

Thu, Feb 5 2015

The Internet has been abuzz this week with the story of Detroit resident James Robertson, the 56-year-old factory worker who has walked some 21 miles to work for the last 10 years. The Detroit Free Press brought Robertson's story to the fore, helping an online fundraising campaign to generate more than $275,000 (as of this writing). The original goal was just $5,000, or about enough to replace the used Honda that died on Robertson back in 2005, and left him walking. So, newly flush with funds, what's the perfect car for Robertson to buy? Let's look at the specifics of his situation, and try to pick out the best options. Here's what we know: Robertson's commute is (famously) 21 miles; he lives in downtown Detroit (for now) and seems pretty humble, so something very flashy is probably out; former Honda aside, his ties to the city (and statements about being a Ford fan) seem to indicate a Detroit Three company product is best; he's a single guy with a girlfriend; he's got to deal with Michigan weather, and the sometimes fickle snow removal processes in The D. Here are some choices: Ford F-150 Robertson is on record as being a Taurus fan, and after a decade of walking I've no doubt that the big sedan would offer a cozy respite. Still, as a car guy and a student of the industry, I'd have a hard time recommending a sedan so clearly in need of replacement. Especially when The Blue Oval has such great stuff within the rest of its roster. The 2015 F-150 seems almost perfect for Robertson. Opting for either of the new EcoBoost V6 engines should help keep fuel bills in reasonable check, while healthy ride height and four-wheel drive will get him to work on time even during the snowiest of snow days. Better still, with a fat options sheet and car-like ride quality, Robertson can have just about every amenity he might want, in a package that won't disrespect his blue-collar roots. Chevrolet Colorado You guys saw this one coming, right? The smaller footprint of the midsize Chevy pickup, relative to some of the other options here, should be an advantage for urban parking and driving. And again, 4x4 is an option for the nasty weather, the running costs should stay pretty low and there aren't many tech/luxury features that can't be had in-cabin. I'd go ahead and splash out on the Crew Cab bodystyle, too, just in case Robertson feels like starting a carpool.

GM recalling 70k Chevy Malibus, Pontiac G6s over steering issue

Sun, Feb 15 2015

A problem with the power steering system in the Chevy Malibu and Pontiac G6 has prompted General Motors and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to issue a recall for an estimated 69,633 vehicles. The issue revolves around the electric power steering assist, which could suddenly fail and increase the risk of a crash, especially at low speeds where the power steering is most helpful. The recall affects 2006-2007 Chevy Malibu sedans and Malibu Maxx wagons (specifically those manufactured between April 1, 2006, and June 30, 2006), as well as the Pontiac G6 (which was offered as a sedan, coupe or convertible) from the same model years and manufactured from April 18, 2006, to June 30, 2006. Owners of the affected units can expect to hear from the manufacturer with instructions to bring in their vehicles to their local dealers to have the torque sensors in the power steering system replaced. RECALL Subject : Sudden Loss of Electric Power Steering , 1 INVESTIGATION(S) Report Receipt Date: FEB 04, 2015 NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V064000 Component(s): STEERING Potential Number of Units Affected: 69,633 Manufacturer: General Motors LLC SUMMARY: General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2006-2007 Chevrolet Malibu and Malibu Maxx vehicles manufactured April 1, 2006, to June 30, 2006, and 2006-2007 Pontiac G6 vehicles manufactured April 18, 2006, to June 30, 2006. In the affected vehicles, there may be a sudden loss of electric power steering (EPS) assist that could occur at any time while driving. CONSEQUENCE: If power steering assist is lost, greater driver effort would be required to steer the vehicle at low speeds, increasing the risk of a crash. REMEDY: GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the torque sensor assembly, free of charge. The manufacturer has not yet provided a notification schedule. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 or Pontiac customer service at 1-800-762-2737. GM's number for this recall is 14772. Note: This is an expansion of recall 14V-153 to cover additional vehicles built between April 1, 2006 and June 30, 2006. NOTES: Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

First 2014 Chevy Corvette Stingray spotted crashed in the wild

Tue, 12 Feb 2013

This restyled blue 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is wearing manufacturer plates, and it appears to be the same one seen around the internet in various pictures lately. This crash is likely not part of the Chevrolet testing regimen, however. Digital Corvettes forum member gpetry posted the shot with a note: "got this picture e-mailed from a friend in Arizona last week..." No circumstances are given, other than the incident occurred in the thick of a set of curvy roads, and the coupe ping-ponged off a guardrail and into the rock wall. Hopefully everyone involved in the incident walked away.
It may not be a pretty thing to see, a crashed sports car that's not even available for sale yet, but rest easy. Many pre-production cars are used for development and then unceremoniously crushed and scrapped, anyway. If that's the case here, that makes this wrecked 'Vette less of a tragedy and more of a case of exceptional efficiency.
