1968 Chevrolet El Camino on 2040-cars
Arroyo Grande, California, United States
1968 Chevrolet El Camino No Engine or Trans Was originally 307 V8 - 3 speed manual trans still has clutch pedal in it. Car is complete other than that 15 x 7 Corvette Rallys on front 15 x 8 Rallys on rear Stock 10 Bolt rear end Power Steering - Non AC Car Interior is complete. No steering wheel but needs to be redone Bumpers are straight with NO Rust All the trim is on the car Glass intact except passenger window The body is why I bought this car The only rust is the bottoms of two front fenders behind the wheels There is NO Rust in the typical El Camino areas: the lower Rockers - bottoms of the doors - rear fender lips - Gas filler door - behind the rear window - floor pans frame it's all good No Rust! The car came from Indio in the Southern California desert Looks like it had one crappy paint job over the original paint. It had some surface rust developing from sitting out in the desert for quiet some time so the car was put in PCL primer until I could get to doing the bodywork. I have not done any bodywork on it. There are dents here and there but it's pretty straight overall Nothing caved in just small dings. I bought this car at a Lien sale from a towing company in Coachella, California. I have ALL the paper work and will provide a bill of sale. The paperwork is clean but California DMV wants nearly $ 1,000 in back registration before giving me the title. The California registration fees should not apply to out of state buyers, but if you live in California it's gonna be about a grand to complete the paperwork. I'm an honest seller and have attached a photo of the registration I have from DMV in my name. I also have all the Lien sale paperwork from when I bought it. Unfortunately, I have no time to do the car so it's gonna go to the highest bidder. Hard to find one with no rust like this I'm located on the central coast of California. Half way between Los Angeles and San Francisco. Zip code is 93420. Buyer is responsible for pick up or shipping arrangements. I will help load the car if needed. The trailer in the photos is not included in the sale. NO RESERVE Happy bidding!!! Car must be picked up with in 30 days of sale. If you pay with a check it will have to clear the bank before car is picked up. Thanks! Rick |

The Jitterbugs somersaulted at the 1986 Chicago Auto Show for the Chevy Nova
Tue, Dec 30 2014Judging by the vintage videos that the Chicago Auto Show has been uploading, if you wanted to check out the latest vehicles and watch some dancers in the same place in the late '80s and early '90s, then the Windy City event was definitely the place to be. We've already seen the Footlockers pitching the Cavalier in '88 and a troupe of women singing about the Geo brand in '91. Apparently, the trend went back even further, though. Just take a look at this group called the Jitterbugs selling some badge-engineered products from Chevrolet at the 1986 show. Flanked by the Chevy Nova and Spectrum, these guys managed to do a few pretty impressive jumps and somersaults but mixed them with some rather uninspired spins, as well. Also, wait for 1:24 into the clip to see the least enthusiastic backup dancers that the world has ever known. The Jitterbugs are even further proof that Chevy's habit of mixing dancing and its vehicles goes back even further than the Volt. Why the Corvette's Performance Data Recorder can be illegal in some states
Fri, 26 Sep 2014The Performance Data Recorder with Valet Mode available on the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray seems like a fantastic tool for many owners. Whether they are taking 720p video while lapping the track in their new 'Vette, or just want to protect their purchase from inconsiderate joyriders, the system offers a lot of functionality in one package. However, one of the PDR's features might get buyers in trouble with the law, and it has nothing to do with recording some illicit high-speed driving on a favorite back road. The problem hinges on the various state laws concerning a person's right to privacy.
According to a letter posted by Jalopnik, Chevy dealers are asking 2015 Corvette owners not to use the Valet Mode portion of the PDR because it records audio in the cabin, in addition to performance specs. That's a problem because privacy laws vary from state to state with some requiring just one side's consent to tape sound and others requiring all parties to agree. According Jalopnik, 15 states mandate everyone's permission beforehand, but it's not clear whether these numbers are up to date. (Actually, the report varies, saying 13 states in some places and 15 in a list.)
According to the letter, Chevy is already working on a software update for the near future to rectify the issue. It's possible that simply adding a warning to drivers and the ability to turn off the audio recording function in Valet Mode might solve the problem. Obviously, this doesn't preclude Corvette drivers from using the performance aspect of the PDR, and owners are free tape lap after lap at the track.
GM to invest $150 million in Flint to boost heavy-duty pickup production
Thu, Jun 13 2019FLINT, Mich. — General Motors President Mark Reuss said on Wednesday that the automaker is investing about $150 million at its Flint Assembly plant in Michigan to boost production of heavy duty trucks by another 40,000 vehicles a year. Reuss announced the investment at the Flint truck assembly plant wearing a United Auto Workers pin. The Detroit automaker had announced back in February it was adding 1,000 jobs in Flint to build a new generation of heavy-duty pickup trucks. GM did not say that the latest investment would add more jobs at the plant, but Reuss said there could be opportunities to add workers as the launch of the automaker's new trucks progresses. GM has been under pressure from President Donald Trump and lawmakers of both parties to add jobs in the United States after it said last November it would idle the Chevy Cruze assembly plant in Lordstown, Ohio, and likewise had no new products for three other U.S. manufacturing plants. The Flint investment will include upgrades to the plant's conveyors and other new tooling, and will be completed in the first half of 2020. GM has invested more than $1.6 billion in the plant since 2013. Last month, GM said it would invest $24 million to increase truck production at its assembly plant in Fort Wayne, Indiana, which makes Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra models. Sales of heavy-duty pickups in the United States have grown to more than 600,000 vehicles a year, up more than 20 percent since 2013, according to industry data. Prices for luxury models can easily top $70,000. GM's Chevrolet and GMC brands have long trailed Ford's F-series heavy duty trucks in the lucrative segment. The new Chevrolet and GMC heavy duty trucks have been re-engineered to tow heavier trailers, and keep pace in what has become an arms race among the Detroit Three automakers to claim superior torque and towing capability.
