1968 Chevelle Post Turbocharged Small Block on 2040-cars
Mount Vernon, Washington, United States
Up for sale is a 1968 chevelle. It is a post car. It has been fully restored and gone through. The body is rust free, and very solid. It has a 6 point roll cage mount to the frame in the front 4 mounting points and the trunk pan in the back which meets nhra rules. The paint was done 2 winters ago in electric blue with 5 coats of clear, it turned out awesome but it has not been wet sanded or buffed. It looks so good I've never bothered. Original chrome trim throughout. It has a harwood fully finished underside 660 dollar 4" cowl induction hood with fuel pressure gauge mounted in the cowl. The power plant is a sbc 400 with srp forged 9.0:1 pistons eagle 5.7 rods, and topped with a new set of AFR 220 75cc cylinder heads. The ignition system is full msd. With a billet msd distributor, wires, msd 6btm box and a msd two step launch control. The turbo kit is a single gt45r setup with braided oil feed and drain lines with a/n fittings throughout, dual 38mm tial wastegates set at 5 psi. Hallman manual boost controller mounted in the glove box along with the painless wiring fuse box for all the accessories for the car which are electric fan and water pump motor, and electric a1000 fuel pump with -10 feed lines to a mallory 1:1 fuel pressure regulator and a -6 return to the tank. It has 3" intercooler piping from the turbo to a 3.5" front mount inter cooler mounted in front of the core support all blowing through a Holley 650 blow thru carburetor. This setup works very well, the car ran 10.54@130 mph on 9 psi of boost on pump gas with 32 degrees of timing in it through a single 4" exhaust with muffler all last season. It has a ton of room for more power. This power plant is backed by a fully built powerglide and a tci 3000 converter which makes this car very easy to drive on the street. The rearend is a spooled 10 bolt with 3.73 gears and c-clip eliminators. The wheels and tires on it are new as of last year they are billet specialties 15's all the way around with Mickey Thompson skinneys on the front with disc brakes of course, and 11.5 Mickey thompson slicks on the rear. The car is 100% street legal minus the slicks. It is tabbed and ready to take for a cruise. The furthest I've driven it was on a 150 mile trip and had no problems. It has all new interior, carpet, seats, seat belt, headliner. Has autometer boost gauge, temp gauge, oil press. Gauge and a aem wideband gauge. The car has tons of stuff i have probly forgotten. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. I'll be more than happy to answer them. I am looking to buy a house and need to sell. Otherwise i wouldn't sell it. Thank you and happy bidding. Opel CEO talks new EV, will likely be fresh face for Chevy, too
Wed, Jul 23 2014The rumored demise of the Opel Ampera has been confirmed, but there's good news, too. Opel CEO Karl-Thomas Neumann has been busy Tweeting information about the brand's next plug-in vehicle, admitting that the Ampera is on the way out but that plug-in vehicles are here to stay. His Tweets, in full, read: After the eventual run-out of the current generation Ampera, we'll introduce a successor product in the electric vehicle segment. Our next electric vehicle will be part of our massive product offensive – with 27 new vehicles in the 2014-2018 time frame. We see eMobility as important part of the mobility of tomorrow and we will continue to drive down costs & deliver affordability. As we learned earlier this week, the Ampera will not be refreshed when the current Chevy Volt is updated, most likely because of slow sales. Opel sold just 332 Amperas in the first five months of 2014. For now, General Motors is still building Amperas in Michigan for export to Europe. So, what might this new EV mean for the General Motors plug-in fleet? Official spokespeople are being quiet, but we think it's safe to say the new EV Neumann is talking about is not simply a rebadged Chevy Spark EV. This is the first official word about an entirely new EV, and we expect it will come to both the Chevrolet and Opel brands.
Watch how Corvette Racing's new collision-avoidance radar system works
Fri, 22 Mar 2013When it comes to technology used in racecars, we generally expect it to trickle down to production cars, not the other way around. Well, Pratt & Miller has developed a new rear-facing radar that operates in a similar fashion to what we're used to in modern blind spot detection systems, only it is also capable of tracking cars as they approach and relaying vital information to the driver via a large display screen.
The innovative radar system debuted at last weekend's 12 Hours of Sebring for Corvette Racing, and this system makes perfect sense for endurance races like this since the cars sometimes have to drive through the night and in poor weather conditions.
The radar can detect cars even with poor visibility, and uses easy-to-distinguish symbols for the driver to identify.
Final C6 Corvette built in Bowling Green
Fri, 01 Mar 2013With all of the attention given to the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray lately, you could be forgiven for thinking that it's already well along in production, yet tooling up for the new C7 has only just begun. In fact, production of the outgoing C6 generation in Bowling Green, Kentucky just halted on Thursday.
As the C6 has aged, production numbers have predictably ebbed along with demand, but this year, the addition of the 427 and 60th anniversary models resulted in an uptick in vehicles built - this, despite a model year shortened by around 25 percent to accomodate the new model changeover. The final C6 Corvette ever, No. 13,466 built this year, was a white 427 Convertible destined for the General Motors Heritage Center museum. The car's 7.0-liter V8 heart was assembled by Corvette chief engineer Tadge Juechter himself.
In total, Bowling Green pushed out 215,100 C6 Corvettes over nine years. If you're still a C6 fan at heart and are hoping to get a good deal on a phase-out model, step lively - Chevrolet reportedly had about 6,100 unsold units, which Autoweek suggests is good for around five and a half months of supply at the model's current sales rates. Given that demand will likely slacken even further as the C7 draws closer, that should be a big enough stockpile to keep dealers satisfied until 2014 Stingrays begin showing up on their forecourts in December.
