1967 Chevy Chevelle Malibu 2 door sport coupe. It has the original 4 bbl 327 (L30) motor in it. The odometer reads 95,377. The motor was drained of fluids a few years ago. The car hasn't been started in about 3 years. Before that the car did run & drive. The car is all original & is a complete car but needs a lot of TLC. It is a 3 speed column shift manual transmission, 3 on the tree. The body of the car is rough, some hail damage & a good amount of rust. But the car comes with a lot of brand new body panels such as quarter panels, fender welds, all the trunk panels, gas tank braces & rear tail light panel. It also has another hood from a different chevelle that comes with the car. They just never have been installed on the car, except for one quarter panel. But it is not welded in place. The car still has 90% I would say of all the original trim chrome pieces on the car. The pics of the car show one missing tail light, but it is sitting in the trunk compartment. The interior of the car is all there, but again its all rough. It will need to be redone. The undercarriage of the car looks accordingly for a 46 year old car. The car sits on a complete set of 4 rally wheels with all the center caps & beauty rings. The car has a clean Texas title. The chevelle needs a lot of work, but it would make a really nice restoration project car for someone who has more time than I do. It's pretty difficult to find an all original square body chevelle that hasn't been gutted out. When restored these cars bring a nice amount of money. Please feel free to ask any questions that I might not have answered. Thanks for looking.
I reserve the right to end auction early at any time, as I do have the car for sale locally as well. |

Junkyard Gem: 1987 Chevrolet Turbo Sprint
Sun, Feb 6 2022Fifteen years ago, I wrote my first-ever automotive article under the name Murilee Martin, and it didn't take me long to start writing about one of my favorite automotive subjects: the junkyard. Before I'd refined my system for documenting discarded vehicles, however, I shot a lot of boneyard photos that never got used. For today's Junkyard Gem, I have four shots from early 2007 of one of the rarest turbocharged machines of the 1980s: the Chevrolet Turbo Sprint. The Chevrolet Sprint was really a rebadged Suzuki Cultus, from the pre-Geo era when General Motors sold the Isuzu Gemini as the Chevrolet Spectrum, the Daewoo LeMans as the Pontiac LeMans and the Toyota Corolla as the Chevrolet Nova (soon enough, the Spectrum became a Geo, and the Nova became the Prizm). The second-generation Cultus appeared in 1988, becoming the Geo Metro on our shores the following year. The Turbo Sprint was available for just the last two years of the Sprint's 1985-1988 American sales run, and it appears that just a couple of thousand were sold; if I'd known at the time just how rare they were, I'd have shot more photos of this one at the now-defunct Hayward Pick Your Part. The turbocharged 993cc three-cylinder produced 70 horsepower, 22 better than the naturally-aspirated version. Since the Turbo Sprint weighed just 1,620 pounds (that's about 500 pounds lighter than a barely more powerful '22 Mitsusbishi Mirage), it was plenty of fun to drive. For 1988, the regular Sprint hatchback cost $6,380 while the Turbo Sprint listed at $8,240 (that's about $15,375 and $19,855 today, respectively). Believe it or not, a Turbo Sprint actually raced in the 24 Hours of Lemons 10 years ago, though it didn't end well. This ad is for the regular Cultus, not the Cultus Turbo, but the screaming guitars sound reasonably turbocharged. For the most part, Chevy Sprint marketing was all about cheap purchase price and stingy fuel economy… at a time when gasoline prices were cratering. Related Video:
2016 Chevy Volt will not need premium gas
Wed, Oct 29 2014Buried in the new technical details of the 2016 Chevy Volt released yesterday was a throwaway line about a small but important change that's due to the new 1.5-liter, four-cylinder engine. The first-gen Volt has always required premium gas but the new powerplant will be happy burning plain old regular. The Volt's chief engineer, Andrew Farah, told AutoblogGreen that the change was due to today's Volt owners explaining they were not happy paying for top-shelf petroleum. "The ability to use regular unleaded was based directly on customer feedback," he said. "Since the range extender is an all-new engine, it was optimized to use regular unleaded at the outset. Using regular fuel will not have effect on vehicle acceleration or other performance factors." As Larry Nitz, GM's executive director of vehicle electrification, told AutoblogGreen yesterday, the new engine is more powerful and quieter than the outgoing 1.4-liter engine that's used in the current Volt. Fuel economy and EV range specs for the next-gen Volt are not expected until the full car is revealed at the Detroit Auto Show in January.
