This is a 1965 Chevelle Malibu original SS car with VIN starting 138. I am the sixth owner having owned it for the last 12 years. The previous owner also owned it for 12 years and did most of the restoration work on it. It showed about 58,000 miles when I received it but had no speedometer cable. I installed the cable and now it shows 61,630. Actual mileage is unknown.
It has been stored in temperature controlled garages for at least the last 24 years. It was restored with black base coat/clear coat paint; new windshield; new park light assemblies, grille, headlight trim, hood molding and letters, deck lid moldings, side insignia moldings; new door, trunk and glove box locks; triple plated front and rear bumpers. The black interior was professionally installed from headliner to floor. A new Ididit tilt column was installed with a Grant wood steering wheel. I added power steering with an aluminum race power steering pump with remote reservoir. Instruments include AutoMeter monster tach with shift light and AutoMeter oil, volt and water temp gauges. The original radio is in the dash but has no speaker. The former owner represented that the radio works but I never installed a speaker. '69 Chevelle front power disc brakes were installed with a Hurst line-lock, JEZ adjustable proportioning valve, Masterpower 8" power brake booster and new stainless steel braided and hard lines. The front suspension is stock. The rear has Edelbrock boxed upper and lower control arms with poly bushings and grease fittings, 12 bolt 3.55 limited slip rear with Summit aluminum rear cover. The gas tank is stock 18 gal steel with new Mallory 140 gph electric fuel pump and Mallory fuel filter followed by a new Mallory adjustable fuel regulator. The engine is a 1995 Gen 5 crate motor which was updated in 2001. It now has Edelbrock aluminum heads, Edelbrock air gap manifold, Lunati .595 hydraulic roller cam, roller lifters and rocker arms. The carb is a Holley #4150 830HP. It has a Milodon 7 qt. oil pan, Weiand polished aluminum water pump, 3 core stock radiator with shroud, 7 blade Chevrolet fan with clutch and recirculating coolant tank. Headers are Hooker competition with 2 1/8 tubes Air Born coated inside and out black. Exhaust is three inch to the Flowmaster 40 series mufflers and 2 1/2 inch back. The distributor is Mallory Comp 9000 with Hy Fire box, Promaster coil and Mallory plug wires. It has a Proform chrome single wire 80 amp alternator, remote starter solenoid and a CVR mini starter. The transmission is a newly rebuilt TH 400 with new 3500 stall converter, cast aluminum deep oil pan, stainless braided lines, Derale oil cooler, B&M Pro Stick shifter, Lokar dip stick. Wheels are Weld Racing Prostar polished. Fronts have new BF Goodrich Advantage T/A tires. Rears have Mickey Thompson ET Streets. Video can be found on YouTube at http://youtu.be/LeFTTEhSXJ8. Body shop manager stole over $500,000 worth of government trucks and parts
Fri, Jan 27 2017The US Department of Justice announced yesterday that the manager of a collision and restoration business in Virginia admitted he helped misappropriate and sell vehicles and parts from the State Department. Specifically, he sold 12 Chevrolet Suburbans, a Hummer, and $7,500 worth of tires and wheels. He pled guilty to charges to commit theft of government property and wire fraud. He will likely see 18 to 20 months in prison, a fine of $4,000 to $40,000, and has already agreed to pay restitution of $416,020 and asset forfeiture of the same amount. According to the Department of Justice, the body shop manager, James Ratcliffe, worked with the owner of the business and a State Department official, both unnamed, to obtain the property. It started with the wheels and tires, which were delivered and sold on two occasions, one in 2011 and another in 2012. The trucks came later, and were sold throughout 2011 and 2013. Ratcliffe and the shop owner kept most of the profits, and shared some of the leftovers with the government official. In addition to the vehicles that were sold, the government official also gave Ratcliffe a pair of Suburbans for his own personal use. The Department of Justice estimated the total value of the SUVs at $96,400. In total, the group misappropriated $512,420 worth of property. Related Video:
GM tells owners not to use SUV wipers due to fire risk
Sun, Oct 11 2015General Motors is recalling 31,685 examples of the 2016 Buick Enclave, Chevrolet Traverse, and GMC Acadia because a short circuit in the windshield wiper motor can potentially lead to a fire. Due to the danger, the company is asking owners not to use the wipers until the problem is fixed, according to The Detroit Free Press citing the Associated Press. A manufacturing defect in the wiper motor cover means that the electrical terminals can come into contact and cause a short. The part could "melt, smoke, or catch fire," according to a statement from GM. The company will get them fixed immediately, and dealers will replace the cover. If there's bad weather at the time the owner specifies to get the recall work completed, the automaker will come pick up the crossovers. Depending on parts availability, the automaker will supply a rental car for customers, as well. The issue was discovered at the factory. According to the company's statement, only 6,405 actually made it to customers, and they were notified immediately by overnight letter. The rest were in dealer stock. The affected crossovers carry build dates between August 18, 2015 and September 24, 2015. Of those, there are 29,295 in the US and 1,073 in Canada. GM Statement: General Motors has told the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that it will recall approximately 29,295 2016 model year Chevrolet Traverse, Buick Enclave and GMC Acadia SUVs in the U.S. because the front windshield wiper motor may overheat when in use because of a manufacturing defect. In some cases, the front windshield wiper motor cover may melt, smoke or catch fire. The approximately 6,405 customers who have taken delivery of these vehicles were notified by overnight letter and are urged to contact a GM dealer as soon as possible to arrange a service appointment. These customers should not use the front windshield wipers until they have been repaired. If weather conditions prevent driving the vehicle without using the windshield wipers, GM will arrange to pick up the vehicle for servicing. If repair parts are unavailable, GM will provide a rental car at no cost until parts become available. The total population, including Canada, Mexico and exports, is approximately 31,685. About 25,280 of these vehicles are in dealer stock and will not be sold until repairs are made.
Autotrader picks best cars for 2015's college grads
Sun, May 31 2015Summer is here and the school season is winding to a close. That means millions of students will be graduating college and (hopefully) entering the workforce. For many, that will mean buying a new car suited to the new stage in life into which they will now be embarking. That can be a bewildering choice, especially for someone who's never bought a car before. Fortunately, Autotrader has come up with a short list of recommended cars – new and used – which it recommends to the graduating class of 2015. Among the site's top choices are some compelling crossovers and hatchbacks, including the Buick Encore, Chevy Trax, and Jeep Renegade, as well as the Honda Fit, Nissan Versa Note, Mazda3 and Fiat 500. Can't stretch to buying new, or don't see the point? Autotrader has also identified the Toyota Camry, Ford Fusion and even the Lexus IS as smart buys in the certified pre-owned category. "Any time someone goes through a major life change, such as graduating college, they need to determine if their current ride makes sense for their lifestyle, from both a financial and functional perspective," says Autotrader editor Brian Moody. "For example, while that hand-me-down SUV from your parents was nice when you turned 16, you may want to opt for a safer, more fuel-efficient car as you transition into the working world." Autotrader Names 10 Best Cars for Recent College Graduates ATLANTA, May 28, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- For many, graduating college is a milestone like no other – it represents a new chapter, a proud accomplishment and, fortunately or unfortunately, financial independence. Luckily for graduates who are in the market for a new car to suit their post-college lifestyle, Autotrader's expert editors say now is a great time to make a purchase, as dealerships are flush with affordable models that are fun, fuel-efficient and thoughtfully designed. Autotrader Logo "Any time someone goes through a major life change, such as graduating college, they need to determine if their current ride makes sense for their lifestyle, from both a financial and functional perspective," said Brian Moody, site editor for Autotrader.
