1964 Chevelle Convertible - Private Collector - Survivor With 1 Paint on 2040-cars
Friendship, Wisconsin, United States
I am a private
collector in Wisconsin with over 40 cars.
I do not buy and sell cars, as a matter of fact I have not offered or
sold any cars from my collection. My
age, and frankly my interests are making me think about "reducing the
herd" so to speak. Thus, the
listing for this 1964 Chevelle Convertible.
I’ve
had the car for about 8 years now and it’s been kept covered in storage with my
other cars. I bought the car from an
elderly gentleman in Minnesota. My
intentions for this car was to put a big block 454 in it and build a resto
mod. Well the car turned out to be in
too nice of original condition to do this, so I kept it as it is. I did go as far as to buy the big block motor
mounts and 4 heavy duty coil springs which I never used. I did install the heavy coils, but then took
them out again after I decided to keep the car as an original survivor. It has
2 factory codes written on firewall, hood and header for convertible top, as
well as the factory used to tie a sample piece of the convertible top in the
trunk. There are about 100 more pix of the car on my website www.Grumpys-Garage.com/64 including the full
floors being replaced and bracing. I feel now the car should be kept as a 6
cylinder, seeing what gas prices are now. The car could be used for car shows
the way it is, or have the minor rust spots taken car of first. I don’t have
time to finish it. If I kept it, I would either have the spots taken care of,
or paint the whole car the original color as shown. The
previous owner had the 230 cubic inch 155hp 6 cylinder completely rebuilt right
before I bought it. It gets great gas
mileage and rides really nice. 1964 was the only year for the stock “Chrome
Treatment” you see in the photos. If I was to keep her, I would have the air
cleaner lid replated, because you cannot find these anywhere. Has a Powerglide
transmission which shifts perfectly. Has power steering. I’m pretty sure the
brake and fuel lines have been replaced, they look pretty new. I
finally got to start working on it last fall and had full intentions of keeping
the car, but I have TOO MANY projects going on, so I’m going to sell it. Last
fall I had full floors and floor supports put in and had a new best quality
pinpoint convertible top with zippered rear window, pads and well installed
professionally. The top has NEVER been down since last November until now
for these pictures. The car has
brand new carpeting and 80/20 carpeted floor mats installed in November after I
had the floors put in. There are brand new matching floor mats as well. There
is an extra set of black rubber mats that one can use when taking to car shows
to keep the new mats clean, then put them in the trunk. The trunk has been detailed and has jack and
spare.Car has original trunk jack instruction sticker, as well as the Minnesota
dealer stickers on door jam and radiator support. All the gauges work fine, except clock. Has all original
parts including hub caps. The sill moldings are new and so are the rocker
moldings. The bumpers are perfect with no pitting and look almost new. The
convertible top mechanism and pump work perfectly. There is rust scaling on the
frame but no rust through. I had the outer window fuzzies (window weather
strips) replaced and still have the remaining 4 inners which I didn’t think it
needs. When I had the convertible top replaced, I replaced any of the top’s
weather stripping as well, and quarter window to front door window seals. There
are new A Piller weather strips also. Last week I put new armrests and bases on
because the old ones were pretty worn. The car has the factory vinyl convertible
top boot that it came with as shown in the pictures. I don’t think it was ever
used much. All the boot clips are intact and the foam padding underneath the
boot are in good shape. The steering wheel is perfect with no cracks, looks
really nice. I think the steering wheel had a cheap wrap on it all its life. I
took it off yesterday to reveal the perfect steering wheel. I was surprised. The seats have no tears or rips in them.
Lights and signals, brake lights work fine. The
alternator light is dimly on, I think it’s a wire hooked up to the
alternator wrong but the alternator is charging and everything runs fine. I
think it’s a very minor issue. The front brakes seem to grab, I never looked at
them and the should be looked at, also minor I’m sure. You can hear the radio
“click” when you turn it on, so I don’t know if it’s the antenna wire or what.
There is a small cap that goes on the windlace (pinch weld) at the quarter
window door jam, that I have on order from Legendary. I
never did anything paint wise with the car. If I were to keep it I would have
it buffed out and the minor few rust areas fixed. There is no rust through on the body
anywhere. Also, I would
also sand the wheels and paint them. This
car is good to go the way it is for cruising or car shows, or you can easily
take her to the next level. I believe it was painted at one time in its life,
perhaps 30 years ago. I would definitely
trailer this car home until you get the brakes looked at and wheels
balanced. You can drive it just fine at
50MPG, but I personally wouldn’t drive any of my cars, restored or not, over 55
for long distance on the highway. It's a very nice car for being 50 years old. The
car is being sold as is with no warranty. Buyer is responsible for pick up and
shipping from me at Friendship, WI 53934 24 hour deposit required, bank wire
transfer preferred, or cash on pickup. |

Evatran, Bosch will sell wireless home charger for as low as $1,998*
Mon, Jan 6 2014At the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas today, the big news for plug in vehicles is that they can now start to ditch the plug. As expected, the system costs around $3,000 and is available for both the Nissan Leaf and the Chevrolet Volt. For the first 250 customers, though, Evatran is offering $1,000 off the standard price, a 30 percent discount. Deliveries start next month and Evatran says it expects the discounted units to all be snatched up in the first half of the year. The wireless charger charges as quickly as conventional corded systems. Called the Plugless Wireless EV charger, the 240-volt station will be installed by Bosch and needs a specific adapter to be used with the Volt or the Leaf (the Leaf version costs $100 more). So, any two-EV families out there will need to pony up double if there's a Chevy and a Nissan in the garage. Of course, since the Plugless system only works with older Leafs (2010-2012 model years - but with any Volt), any late adopters will not be able to take advantage of the new technology, for now. Evatran says the wireless charger "charges the Volt and Leaf as quickly as conventional corded systems and all vehicle features, such as charge-timers and phone applications, can be used seamlessly with the Plugless system." After the first 250 units, standard prices for the wireless chargers take effect again: $2,998 (Volt) and $3,098 (Leaf). Evatran says it will announce wireless chargers for additional vehicles and model years later this year. Evatran and Bosch offer Promotional Pricing as low as $1,998 to first 250 PLUGLESS™ Wireless EV Charging Customers LAS VEGAS, Jan. 6, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Evatran Group, Inc. ("Evatran"), in partnership with Bosch Automotive Service Solutions, announced today at the 2014 Consumer Electronics Show that it is offering reduced promotional pricing to the first 250 customers who opt to Go PLUGLESS with their electric vehicle ("EV") experience. The PLUGLESS system offers a convenient, wireless charging alternative to the repetitive process of unplugging and plugging-in electric vehicles. The reduced pricing includes all charging hardware and is as much as a 30% discount off the system's standard MSRP. The discount is available only to the first 250 customers. Initial shipments of the PLUGLESS system, the first wireless EV charging product in the world available to individual EV drivers, will begin in February 2014.
5 classic trucks and their polarizing modern revivals
Sun, Mar 3 2024EVs are helping eliminate Detroit's gas-guzzling problem. Some revivals of gas-powered classics are getting the EV treatment. But not every revived model looks exactly like its original counterpart. We're in a new era of hulking Detroit metal, and you can thank EVs. Americans can't get enough of their big, beefy trucks and SUVs. But for many years, some of the biggest gas guzzlers fell out of fashion as gas prices rose and emissions regulations tightened. But in the past few years, some of the most iconic American truck nameplates have been brought back to life with electric motors, like the GMC Hummer. In other cases, as with the Ford Bronco, improvements in engine technology and more interest in rugged adventure vehicles made a gas-powered revival possible. Even some revivals that started as gas-powered, like the Chevy Blazer and the Jeep Wagoneer, are now getting electrified spinoffs. (Even if they don't always look quite as sleek as their original inspiration.) Here are side-by-sides of five classic American trucks and their modern counterparts. The Jeep Wagoneer 1975 Jeep Wagoneer and 2024 Electric Jeep Wagoneer SStellantis After a long wait, Jeep released its revival of the classic Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer in 2020. Starting later this year, an electric version of the luxury Jeep SUV will join the Wagoneer lineup. The Chevrolet Blazer A 1973 Chevrolet Blazer and a 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EVGetty Images, General Motors The Chevrolet Blazer was first rebooted in 2019 as a sporty family SUV. The modern Blazer shares zero resemblance to its boxy, off-roading older sibling, but it has still managed to become one of Chevy's more popular SUVs in recent years. The Blazer EV came later, and was one of the first models GM built on its new Ultium battery platform. The Hummer A Hummer H2 and the 2023 Hummer EV pickup truckGetty Images, General Motors Once the poster child for Detroit's big, bad gas guzzlers, the Hummer got new life as an electric pickup truck in 2021. The Ford Bronco A 1971 Ford Bronco and a 2022 Ford BroncoFord Motor Co. After a rouge group of engineers and designers inside Ford spent years trying to breathe life back into the Blue Oval's boxy off-roader, the Ford Bronco was finally resurrected in 2020 amid a rise in popularity for rugged adventure vehicles. Which electric cars can charge at a Tesla Supercharger?
Sun, Jul 9 2023The difference between Tesla charging and non-Tesla charging. Electrify America; Tesla Tesla's advantage has long been its charging technology and Supercharger network. Now, more and more automakers are switching to Tesla's charging tech. But there are a few things non-Tesla drivers need to know about charging at a Tesla station. A lot has hit the news cycle in recent months with regard to electric car drivers and where they can and can't plug in. The key factor in all of that? Whether automakers switched to Tesla's charging standard. More car companies are shifting to Tesla's charging tech in the hopes of boosting their customers' confidence in going electric. Here's what it boils down to: If you currently drive a Tesla, you can keep charging at Tesla charging locations, which use the company's North American Charging Standard (NACS), which has long served it well. The chargers are thinner, more lightweight and easier to wrangle than other brands. If you currently drive a non-Tesla EV, you have to charge at a non-Tesla charging station like that of Electrify America or EVgo — which use the Combined Charging System (CCS) — unless you stumble upon a Tesla charger already equipped with the Magic Dock adapter. For years, CCS tech dominated EVs from everyone but Tesla. Starting next year, if you drive a non-Tesla EV (from the automakers that have announced they'll make the switch), you'll be able to charge at all Supercharger locations with an adapter. And by 2025, EVs from some automakers won't even need an adaptor. Here's how to charge up, depending on which EV you have: Ford 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E. Tim Levin/Insider Ford was the earliest traditional automaker to team up with Tesla for its charging tech. Current Ford EV owners — those driving a Ford electric vehicle already fitted with a CCS port — will be able to use a Tesla-developed adapter to access Tesla Superchargers starting in the spring. That means that, if you own a Mustang Mach-E or Ford F-150 Lightning, you will need the adapter in order to use a Tesla station come 2024. But Ford will equip its future EVs with the NACS port starting in 2025 — eliminating the need for any adapter. Owners of new Ford EVs will be able to pull into a Supercharger station and juice up, no problem. General Motors Cadillac Lyriq. Cadillac GM will also allow its EV drivers to plug into Tesla stations.
