70 Chevy Impala up for auction for fun driving as is or a good restoration candidate.  We purchased car locally with the intention to sell, as my son is a mopar man and his goal is a mopar muscle car.  If you have a mopar to trade, let's talk.  For you looking to buy, here's the info:  We bought car because it was too good of a deal to pass up. It could not be driven when bought, but It had only a couple of mechanical issues that we fixed.  It had been stored under trees for a long time, so it was UGLY when we first saw it, but we could see it just needed a little TLC to make it a fun daily driver:

  • 350 4bbl enginewith good center dump exhaust manifolds.  No rattles, or knocking..drives nicely with plenty of power.
  • Power: steering, brakes, windows, locks, SEAT!  All work well.  A/C is all there except no belt.  Never worked on it, so no other info.
  • Automatic transmission, no slips or leaks...works good.
  • Vinyl top is good condition for age.  Small pull-away in one rear corner, but no rips, shines up nicely, no soft spots or evidence of rust trouble underneath.
  • Paint: has been repainted sometime in it's life, as well there is evidence of bondo around wheel openings.  On restoration, it's all gotta be fixed anyway, as there is rust repair needed on lower back quarters...lower patch panels would be sufficient.  Current paint shines, looks nice for those wanting to drive now.
  • TILT steering wheel.
  • Original am/fm slide-bar radio there and working.  No cut-up dash to repair.  Dash pad is good shape, shines with only one crack.
  • Dual exhaust, no leaks.
  • Rocker panels solid, see pics.  Floors solid, Frame straight.  Hood has a couple small rust holes, but should be repairable.  Trunk lid straight.  Doors usable.  For restoration, front fenders, rear quarters, and back bumper the major areas needing repair.
  • Interior: padding gone under driver.  We put towel in hole, feels fine to drive.  Seats original, usable for now but will need repair for restore.  Carpet original, torn up on front passenger floor.  Covered up by floor mat.
  • Repairs:  New Alternator & regulator, LF upper A repaired, new battery.  person we bought car from couldn't keep battery up.  Problem fixed.  Drive it daily for fun now. NEW REAR BRAKES!  Front brakes working fine.  Car can lock 'em up if needed.
  • From pics, you can see two previous fender benders.  Got hit in rear, will need new bumper and back lower panel.  Back lower panel comes with car.  Previous owners painted the damaged bumper black.  Damage did not get into trunk area, trunk lid is straight as shown. RR quarter some damage, might be repairable not needing replacement.  Frame is OK.  Left front, fender needs replaced  but it appears the only damage to front bumper is dent in corner, see pic.  For a minor restoration front bumper is nice, not rusted, shiny...can be used.
  • Car has "Comfortron" automatic temperature control, operated by a number of electric servos.  We could not get the blower motor to run, so we wired a toggle switch.  Blower runs now, so you have good heat and defrost.  The selector between defrost, heat, air works.  Again, Compressor not hooked up for A/C.
  • Original Rally Wheels & Trim all there, shiny and usable.  Tires almost new...lots of life left.
  • Suspension, back seems fine, front is a bit loose, to be expected in a survivor, but drivable.
  • Can you drive it home?  YES!!  Remember it's age and being original, but it's driving nicely for us locally with no problems, so it should be fine for a trip home.

Reserve is LOW, car will definitely sell, so bid with buying in mind.  No deposit requested, just bring your cash  and get car w/i 7 days of purchase please.  I've shared everything I can think of, but am happy to answer all your questions.  Thanks for looking, and good luck with your bid!

Why 2015 is going to be a huge year for trucks

Thu, Jan 22 2015

Nissan chief executive Carlos Ghosn took center stage to introduce the 2016 Titan last week at the Detroit Auto Show. He spoke of the truck's new features, impressive Cummins V8 diesel engine and the extensive amount of time and money required to build a modern, competitive pickup truck. "We have done all of this because we see opportunity – an opportunity in the unmet needs of today's American truck customers," Ghosn said. He was speaking about the Titan, but his thoughts echo the industry's mindset: When it comes to trucks, find an opportunity and attack. Even with CAFE regulations looming and fickle consumer preferences, investing in trucks is a no-brainer for automakers. Some consumers will always need a truck for their job or lifestyle. And some people will always want one, whether they need it or not. With that in mind, here are four reasons why the pickup-truck sector is more important than ever and poised for growth in 2015. View 24 Photos The Nissan Titan Is Back Okay, it never left, but the Titan hadn't been redesigned since its launch in 2003, and Nissan sold more NV200s than Titans in 2014. It's an understatement to say the truck was languishing. That all changes with the 2016 model. The Titan will come in two variants, a traditional fullsize competitor and the Titan XD. The XD will lead the market launch, and it arrives late this year. It's pitched as a "whitespace" offering, Nissan sales and marketing vice president Fred Diaz said. The idea is to offer something in the general size and price range of a fullsize truck, but also have some of the capability of a heavy-duty truck. The XD uses a fully boxed ladder frame, the chassis design from Nissan's commercial division, and the wheelbase is about 20 inches longer than other Titan models. The XD, which Nissan is calling the flagship of the line, will be the only model with the 5.0-liter Cummins turbodiesel V8. It produces 310 horsepower and 555 pound-feet of torque, while being able to tow 12,000 pounds. V6 and V8 gasoline models will also be offered on the Titan XD and the standard, non-XD model. When production ramps up, the Titan will be sold with several cabs, beds and trims. New features include trailer sway control, an integrated trailer brake controller, more storage options in the cabin and even laminated front and rear side glass to reduce outside noise. All of this has given Nissan fresh confidence in an area where it admittedly has been lacking. "We can compete," Diaz told Autoblog.

GM expected to debut two new crossovers at Detroit Auto Show

Thu, Dec 15 2016

Next month, General Motors is expected to debut two new crossovers at the North American International Auto Show. That's according to Automotive News and The Wall Street Journal, which reports that the successors to the aging Chevrolet Traverse and GMC Terrain will finally make their debut. The two crossovers have been on sale since 2009 and 2010 respectively and are due for updates as the competition has newer models on the market. Both crossovers play in growing market segments where sales success is crucial for the respective brands. GM, and the automotive industry as a whole, has been shifting its focus towards crossovers in the last few years. The Traverse and the Terrain are some of the oldest SUVs on the market and are in dire need of an update. GMC's Acadia, the former corporate clone to the Traverse (and Buick Acadia), switched to a new platform in 2016. And the Terrain's platform-mate, the Chevrolet Equinox, was revealed a few months ago. Both the new Chevy and GMC models are expected to go on sale late in 2017 as 2018 models. Look for a follow up to the Traverse's sister, the Buick Enclave, to make an appearance soon. Motor Trend puts Chevy Camaro Z28 and Porsche 911 GT3 Head 2 Head

Mon, Dec 29 2014

Motor Trend admits, "This is an unfair comparison." But that doesn't make it any less fun to watch when they pit a Camaro Z/28 against the Porsche 911 GT3. The former has a 7.0-liter V8 with 505 horsepower and 481 pound-feet of torque shifted through a six-speed manual. The latter has a 3.8-liter flat-six with 475 hp and 324 lb-ft shifted through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Yet those are only the little disparities – the big disparities are mass and money: the Camaro weighs 3,882 pounds and costs $76,150 as-tested, the Porsche weighs 3,267 pounds and costs $145,785. But they're both about hardcore performance, so MT takes them out on the street, to the drag strip, to the parking lot for figure eights and a skidpad test, and finally to Big Willow for Randy Pobst to give his professional assessment. Remember when a lotta people spent a lotta time debating Pirates vs. Ninjas? This is like that, only it's the "haul-ass good-time car" vs. the "track surgeon." Enjoy the debate in the video.
