1968 Impala Convertible 327 Auto Air Amazing Driver Street Hot Rat Rod Custom on 2040-cars
Irvington, Alabama, United States
1968 Impala Convertible, let me start out by saying that I'm listing this car for a very good friend of mine. The car is a factory Black on red convertible, this is the factory color combo for the car. Its a 1968 Standard Impala, not a SS car, with power steering, brakes and a power top. This car is really straight and all the paint and chrome shows great for a black car. Their are like one or two small rock chips in the paint, and I believe that's all that we could find walking around the car and all. This car gets driven just about on a weekly basis, he takes it to shows, and the only reason for getting rid of the car, is because his wife is unable to enjoy the car with him and he don't care to go to car shows with out her. He has had the car for several years now, and has put about 8000 miles on it since he got it. The car is only showing 28K miles on it. The motor in the car is a 327/250 HP small block Chevy, that's backed by a turbo 400 and in the rear is a 12 bolt. When he got the car, he did a little changing to the car. He first changed the wheels and tires to a factory correct ralley and red line tires, which are P215/75R15 and they only have the miles that he has put on the car on them. After that he added the Vintage Air system, and all that works perfect, blows ice cold. He also just recently redid the brakes on the car and put a new alternator on it. He did add a trailer hitch setup when he first got the car so that he could pull a small enclosed trailer with his wife's electric wheel chair in it and a few other things so that she could go to the shows with him. The interior of the car has no flaws that I can see whatsoever, and its the factory correct interior that came in the car, the Red bench seat with the automatic on the column. The convertible top for the car is a power top and he just had one cylinder replaced so all that is working just perfect. The car rides and drives perfect and it is truly ready to drive across the county. Fly in and drive home if you so choose. The car is for sale locally and is subject to be taken off Ebay if sold. The car is also sold as is with no warranty. A 25% deposit is due within 3 days of the auctions end and the balance within 7 more when the car is to be picked up or arrangements are made for the car to be shipped. If you have any questions about the car please fill free to ask and I will gladly answer any you have to the best of my ability. Thanks and God Bless Charlie 251-751-7530 |

Opel's version of the Chevy Bolt will confuse people at Paris Motor Show
Fri, Aug 26 2016Two things are now official. First, Opel will reveal the Ampera-e, or the European version of the Chevrolet Bolt, at the Paris Motor Show in October. Second, General Motors has outdone itself in brand confusion, topping the Bolt/Volt ridiculousness. Opel isn't giving a single-charge range for the Ampera-e but the company is promising a "significantly longer range" than other electric vehicles. The Bolt is estimated to have a 200-mile range on the EPA scale, so whatever the Opel achieves on the European cycle will be done with the same batteries and motor as the Chevy. Opel is also looking to appeal to the auto enthusiasts with other factoids, which are basically just Bolt stats translated into metric. For instance, the Ampera-e will be able to go 0 to 50 kilometers per hour (which is 31 miles per hour to us Americans, but we're talking Europe here) in just 3.2 seconds. And for those looking to stay connected, as many as seven mobile devices can attached to the car's wireless hot spot. GM said in February that the European of the Bolt would be available across the pond next year, so the most recent bit of news isn't shocking. Still, General Motors continues to create confusion between all-electric Bolt and the extended-range plug-in Volt. It's already been reported that the Korean symbol and pronunciation of what is "B" in English is identical to the English "V," meaning that there is no difference between "Bolt" and "Volt" in that country (though there are no plans to sell the Bolt in South Korea as of yet). Now, in Europe, they're taking the name they used to use for the European of the Volt — Ampera — and merely adding an "-e" at the end of it. For those looking to be less confused, take a look at Opel's press release here. Looking back at the Citation IV concept that likely shaped the GM EV1
Wed, Aug 20 2014Those who forget history are condemned to repeat it. We're not sure how that applies to the GM EV1, but we'd still like to share something from Autoline Daily, an online automotive new show with our friend John McElroy. He's been covering the business for decades now and recently found something interesting: pictures of the 1984 Chevrolet Citation IV concept, seen above. Displayed half a decade before the first electric concept that would become the EV1 (inset), McElroy says it's now clear that the elegant, aerodynamic EV1 took a lot of styling cues from the Citation IV, which was developed in part thanks to GM's new-at-the-time Aerodynamics Laboratory. We agree with him that the spats over the rear wheels, the flush glass, and the covered headlights all bear a certain kind of similarity between the two cars. That the colors almost match is a nice coincidence. The Impact (the concept version of the EV1) looked "frumpier," McElroy says, because it wasn't as long as the Citation. You can read a lot more about the Citation IV here and check out McElroy's thoughts in the video below. Find the Citation starting at around 3:45. This content is hosted by a third party. GM warning 800,000 owners that their cars may need oil changes more frequently than they say
Fri, 05 Apr 2013The days of changing your engine oil every 3,000 miles are long gone thanks to most cars having automatic oil monitoring systems, but about 800,000 General Motors vehicles apparently have incorrect monitoring software that is leading to premature engine component wear. According to Autoweek, certain 2010-2012 Buick LaCrosse, Regal, Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain models equipped with 2.4-liter four-cylinder engines could be going too long in between oil changes resulting in a higher-than-normal number of warranty claims for the engine's balance chain. The balance chain links the balance shaft to the crankshaft, and a worn one can produce higher noise levels.
As a fix, GM dealers will be reprogramming the software for the monitors in an effort to reduce the interval between oil changes, which varies based on driving habits and conditions. Through February 2015, the software update will be done at no cost to vehicle owners, but since this is not a recall, after that point, it will be up to the discretion of dealers as to whether or not they will charge for the service. What isn't immediately clear is whether GM plans on giving assistance to out-of-warranty customers who are experiencing engine issues from the worn chain.
