I purchased in Kansas in 2010, BARN FIND while working after the Tornado tore up Joplin Mo in 2010 and drove it here to the bay area. Some of the pictures here are from the barn and some are from the trip to California.
I replaced the windshield with NEW, installed a New Holly 750 Carburetor, flushed the fuel system, bleed and serviced the brakes then drove it here to California where I received and posses a Clear California Title in my name. There are no back fees. I forget if it's either currently registered or on a Non Operation registration but its one or the other, which is good. No DMV fees are due! I've intended to restore this 1966 SUPER SPORT Big Block Convertible but have needed to replace my work truck with funds from selling this car.
Its starts right up after sitting long periods of time and (fires right up). It runs and drives excellent. All the glass is good. It has primer and some rust inhibitor on the body. It has rust holes in the drivers floor board in an area about the size of several small holes in the area of a dollar bill.
I have 4 bucket seats that go with the car. 2 are original. It has an OEM TACHOMETER IN DASH (stock) no center console (missing) but has 4 speed gauges. I believe it was an original 396 with a 400TH. I want to think it was a 4spd but I have been told that because of the 10 bolt posi that it was most likely a 396 with a 400TH trans. This engine is a strong rebuilt 402 big block, 4 wheel drum brakes, newer white convertible top with a glass rear window, the dash pad is tan and in good condition. Needs paint and interior work. Is an excellent driving project car. A great winter project to be ready for summer and beach cruises.
Also available for sale (separate) is a 12 bolt posi 1966 Impala SS. $950. obo, Front Disc Brakes fits 1966 Impala $250. obo

2016 Chevy Volt powertrain video teasers
Fri, Oct 31 2014If there's one thing we've learned about plug-in vehicle fans, you have a thing for seeing your cars get made. The series of videos showing BMW i3 production was strangely popular, as were the shots from inside the VW e-Golf plant. Well, with General Motors pulling the veil off of the 2016 Chevy Volt this week, it's time to take a peek at the production process for that vehicle as well. You're welcome. Up first we've got a clip from CNN Money showing a little bit about how the new Volt's new battery pack and other powertrain components are made. Those of you who are trying to read the lithium tea leaves and see if the new shape reveals that the 2016 Volt will have five seats might want to check it out. Then we've got two clips from GM itself, one showing an animation about the updated Voltec powertrain and another with some B Roll of the old Volt. Since GM doesn't want us to see the new car quite yet, we'll have to enjoy this for now. Watch below. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. GM execs fired over fraudulent India emissions testing
Mon, 29 Jul 2013General Motors hadn't had a recall in India since 1995. That changed when it was discovered that certain employees were playing tricks with local emissions testing in order to ensure passing grades for engines. More than ten GM Powertrain employees in India and the US have been let go over the ensuing emissions flap, including Sam Winegarden, VP of global engine engineering, a man who has been with the company since 1969, leading development of some marquee powerplants.
According to Automotive News, an internal investigation revealed that employees "violated testing procedures," sometimes swapping specially prepared low-emissions engines during testing regimes for the Chevrolet Tavera SUV equipped with the 2.0-liter and 2.5-liter engines. Employees were also manipulating weights in order to get vehicles placed into different emissions categories. The discovery has led to GM recall the 114,000 Taveras produced over an eight-year period and halting their production and sale.
The Economic Times of India reports that the issue is due to "a faulty component." GM has developed a solution to the issue, and once it is validated in testing and approved by the Indian authorities, the recalled vehicles will be fixed at dealers and production will resume.
Watch this creative way to pull a truck's engine
Fri, 08 Mar 2013Living in an apartment complex has its benefits, but for shade-tree mechanics who like/need to work on their own cars, it definitely has a number of disadvantages. Relatively simple tasks such as brake jobs and oil changes are difficult when you don't have dedicated driveway space, to say nothing of more in-depth repairs... like pulling an engine, for example.
For these types of challenges, a little ingenuity and plenty of muscle are needed to get the job done. Scroll down to watch these four men snatch the V8 out of a Chevrolet K1500 using nothing but a chain, landscape timber and good ol' fashioned brute strength. Good work, gentlemen.
