1966 Impala "SS Clone"

Up for your consideration is this stunning '66 Impala.  Very nice restoration that would show well at any cruise night or local show.  It's definately a head turner and I got several "thumbs up" and smiles as I drove it around town.  I'm helping sell this for a friend and I'm happy to forward any questions to him that I'm unable to answer.

Paint is fresh and in great shape and shows great.  The car is rust free and solid throughout.  The interior is all NEW including the headliner.  The seats, carpet, rear deck, dash, and door panels look awesome.  The only item(s) in the interior that need to be addressed are the arm rests on both doors need the foam pad replaced and are readily available through catalogs.  As seen in the photos the trim and chrome are in great shape.

The 18" chrome Boss wheels are in like new condition as are the 245/40/ZR18 Toyo tires.  It currently has a 350 CID engine with an Automatic transmission.  It runs well but the owner planned on replacing the engine with an LT1 that he pulled from a '97 Camaro.  He was also going to install a LE60 transmission.  He still has both the LT1 engine and the LE60 tranny that are both available for sale for an additional $1,000.00.  He mentioned that the engine would need to be freshened up before installing.  The car is a great looking classic muscle car that would be even better with more horses under the hood.

The car starts, runs, drives and stops well.  The car has the original brake set up … drums on the front and rear.  Floor pans, rockers, trunk deck, quarter panels, fender wells, frame rails and cross members, etc… are all in great shape with no rust or rot issues.

He's motivated to sell but not desperate.  This is one of many cars in his collection that he will be selling.  Bid with confidence and bid to win.  This is a great car that will go at a very fair price.  These classics are some of the best investments out there these days and this one is sure to continue to appreciate.

Please have funds in place before bidding and please ask any questions you may have before bidding.  Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer but we're happy to do what's necessary to make sure things go smoothly with your transport on our end.  I reserve the right to end the auction early at any time for any reason as the car is also for sale locally.

IIHS gives good ratings to 4 of 8 midsize pickups in crash test

Wed, Sep 6 2017

Versions of the Toyota Tacoma, Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon Crew Cab earned top ratings in a new crash test of midsize pickup trucks from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, while two versions of the Nissan Frontier earned marginal ratings. But the organization gave poor marks to all eight pickups tested for their dim headlights. Overall, four of the eight pickups evaluated earned good ratings for protecting occupants in all five crash test categories — the Tacoma double cab along with crew cab versions of the Colorado, Canyon and Tacoma. But the poor headlights and lack of an automatic emergency braking system blocked any of the pickups from qualifying for the IIHS's Top Safety Pick awards. The study looked at two pickup body styles using 2017 models: crew cabs, which have four full doors and two full rows of seating, and extended cabs, which have two full front doors, two smaller rear doors and compact second-row seats. It subjected each to five tests, and it evaluated the performance of front crash prevention systems and headlights. The Toyota Tacoma crew cab was the only pickup in that class that earned a good rating for structure in the small overlap test, which replicates what happens when a vehicle clips a tree, pole or another vehicle that has crossed the center line. The model's Access Cab extended-cab version was rated similarly, though its structure was rated acceptable. "This group of small pickups performed better in the small overlap front test than many of their larger pickup cousins," says David Zuby, the Institute's executive vice president and chief research officer. "The exception was the Nissan Frontier, which hasn't had a structural redesign since the 2005 model year." The extended-cab versions of the Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon earned acceptable ratings, while both the Nissan Frontier king-cab and crew-cab models were rated marginal. Toyota says its 2018 Tacoma will feature upgraded headlights and a standard autobraking system that can detect pedestrians. "Headlights are basic but vital safety equipment. Drivers shouldn't have to give up the ability to see the road at night when they choose a small pickup," Zuby said. Chevy monitors drivers' biometrics while experiencing new Corvette Stingray

Fri, 25 Oct 2013

We tell you about what a car is like to drive every day, remarking on throttle response, steering weight and feedback, squat, dive, brake fade and a dozen or more other factors of performance. What we can't tell you, though, is what the car does to us - how its performance impacts us, physically. That's what makes this video series from Chevrolet so darn cool.
The Bow-Tie brand rented out Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch, got several (very) different individuals together, strapped a bunch of sensors to their bodies to record biometric data ranging from heart rate to respiration to brain activity, and then handed them keys to the new Chevrolet Corvette Stingray. The results are explained in a series of videos, devoted to each driver, showing how different people react to the Corvette's performance.
If, like your author, you're a nerd for medical science, this is going to be a fascinating set of videos. If not, it's still pretty cool to see how the body of someone with racing experience, like Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi, reacts to tracking a car like the Corvette Stingray compared to the owner of legendary Detroit barbecue joint, Slows BBQ. Take a look below for all six videos from the series, or hop over to the Corvette Vimeo channel for the interactive experience, where you can see all the different metrics.

Amelia Island 2013: Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray from concepts to split windows

Wed, 13 Mar 2013

While this year marks 60 years of the Chevrolet Corvette, the 2013 Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance focused on one of the coupe's most sought after models, the 1963 Sting Ray. General Motors design boss Ed Welburn was on hand to show off the all-new C7 Corvette, but even the hard-edged styling of the 2014 Stingray couldn't take away from the beautiful 1963 models sitting out on the field.
In addition to the original Sting Ray and the 1959 Sting Ray Concept, some of the other classic 'Vettes included "Big Tank" racecars, an interesting cutaway coupe, a right-hand-drive Z06 and the attention-grabbing 1963 Corvette Rondine by Pininfarina. Another impressive Corvette was the 1964 Corvette XP-819 rear-engine prototype. Owner Mike Yager had the car finished as a driving chassis for this year's show, but promises the car will be back to its original glory in time for next year's event.
