1966 Impala SS

This is a true Super Sport (see vin plate in picture to verify) and is the perfect car whether you are looking for an easy restoration project or just a weekend cruiser that will turn heads. You will not find a better Impala to restore or even for a quick flip! These cars are rare and one in this condition is all but impossible to find and only has 82K original miles. This beast drives great, has power steering, has NO rust anywhere and body is straight. The previous owner put it on a lift so I could look at the undercarriage and I tried my hardest to find rust and simply couldn’t as it was ordered with a factory undercoat that really did it’s job and was always garage kept. The only thing that wasn’t coated and did rust was the trunk pan and it was cut out and professionally replaced by the previous owner. It currently sits with the original 283 motor with a Edelbrock intake manifold and dual 4 barrel carb it also has a custom stainless dual exhaust. It runs great and I have driven it on several 2 hour trips with no worries.

The seats, carpets, and vinyl top have all been professionally restored to factory original just a few days ago so the interior is 85% completely restored.  All the electric windows work flawlessly but the switch on the passenger side does need to be replaced.

Issues:

Driver side brake light out. I replaced the bulb and the blinkers don’t work so it’s an electrical issue but with these cars that’s an easy fix.

Rubber window and door seals need to be replaced.

There is a small ding in the front grill but my body guy says he could easily work it out and replacement isn’t necessary, see attached picture.

The interior other than floors and seats does need restoration. Lots of the chrome inside can be restored but some does need replacing. Everything is functional but some work and cash is needed to get everything showroom perfect.

The motor runs great but there is a small oil leak and if I were going to keep it I would rebuild the engine and paint it and clean up the engine compartment just to make everything look pretty.

There are some trim pieces that need replacing and other minor cosmetic work but overall this car is in unbelievable condition.

The only reason I am getting rid of this car is that I had bought this car because it was too good to pass up and did plan on restoring it but I just found the car I really want to restore for sale and  want to get the money out of this so I can buy that.

Vin number shows that this is a true Super Sport.

The average price for this car is $19,834.  We are selling this one for well below that for an above average car.

Go to Haggerty.com and see the potential value of this car.

This is how GM is hiding new Chevy Volt in public

Wed, Oct 1 2014

General Motors is letting the public know that, well, it's not about to let the public know anything else about the next-generation Chevrolet Volt. But the automaker is willing to talk about its camouflaging process for upcoming versions of the extended-range plug-in. So it's a half-hearted secret, at best. GM actually has a "camouflage engineer" charged with creating ways to disguise the styling of new vehicles. In the Volt's case, the company is applying black and white swirly color patterns on top of the materials, such as plastics, vinyl and foam, that are used liberally across the body. It's all part of a teaser campaign that started last month with pictures of part the 2016 Volt. Earlier this month, GM said it was keeping track of Volt drivers' habits as it works on the next-gen model. The company noted that more than four out of five trips are being made in all-electric driving mode, and that 60 percent of Volt owners use a plain-old 100-volt outlet to recharge their cars. The car is slated to make its global debut at Detroit's North American International Auto Show next January, and the early word is that performance and all-electric range will be improved (we should hope so). The car will also be sleeker. By how much, we can't tell yet, because of those darn swirly patterns. GM's got more non-details in its press release below. Engineers charged with hiding styling while vehicle testing proceeds in public DETROIT – The styling of the next-generation Chevrolet Volt is one of the automotive world's best-kept secrets. Keeping customers and media eager to see the successor to the groundbreaking original at bay until the new Volt debuts at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit in January is tricky business. First, it is engineers, not designers, who are charged with creating camouflage that balances styling secrecy with the need to validate the Volt and its systems in public. "If it were up to me it would be a shoebox driving down the road," said Lionel Perkins, GM camouflage engineer. "The design team wants us to cover more of the vehicle and the engineering team needs to have enough of the vehicle's weight and aero exposed so that the tests in the development process are consistent with the product that will come to market." The engineers responsible for the "cool" designs covering the car might deserve style points but their efforts are intended strictly to hide the metal beneath.

GM already raising prices on 2014 Silverado and Sierra pickups

Mon, 14 Oct 2013

General Motors must be pretty pleased with sales of its two newest pickups, the GMC Sierra and Chevrolet Silverado, as it's announced price hikes for both models, as part of a planned price tweak.
Prices will be bumped by as much as $1,500, although weirdly, they'll be offset by as much as $1,500 in cash-back offers through the end of October. Fox Business reports that GM spokesman Jim Cain said of the price hike, "With the sell down of the '13 models nearly complete, this price adjustment was planned and is a normal part of business."
The move, as Fox is quick to point out, is an interesting one, as sales of the twin pickups struggled last month relative to the Ford F-Series, while both of GM's crosstown competitors have been aggressively undercutting Silverado and Sierra prices. The F-150 starts at $24,070 and the Ram 1500 comes in at $23,600, not counting any cash on the hood. A base Silverado, meanwhile, retails at $25,575.

Fewer than 1 in 3 Chevy dealers earn right to initially sell C7 Corvette

Mon, 01 Apr 2013

Looking to make the launch of the 2014 Corvette Stingray as efficient as possible, Chevrolet will be limiting the numbers of its dealers that can sell the all-new coupe and convertible. According to Automotive News, sales of the C7 Corvette will initially be limited to less than a third of Chevy's total dealership network when the 'Vette goes on sale this summer.
Only 900 dealers out of more than 3,000 locations nationwide will be allowed to sell the new Corvette at first, and the reason for this is so that there are no shortages at dealers that can actually get the cars sold. The article says that the 900 dealerships chosen represented 80 percent of total Corvette sales in 2012.
Some of the requirements dealers had to make to get initial allocation of Stingray sales include having sold at least four Corvettes in 2012 and having a Corvette Stingray specialist who will be required to have gone through a training session costing more than $2,000 per attendee. Once demand for the 2014 Corvette Stingray begins to subside - approximately six to nine months after it goes on sale - then allocation could open up to more dealers, but the report indicates this could happen following the 2014 model year.
