This auction is for a 1966 Chevy Impala 2 door coupe with 85,000 miles on it. The car has a 283 engine (220 HP) 1and a 4 barrel carb in it. Its automatic with a powerglide transmission in it. The car runs, drives, and shifts fine. The car is very solid. The only thing the car could use under the hood would be a new fan belt ($5 at an auto store). The radiator hose was just replaced. I just drove the car 4 hours last week with no issues so the car is very reliable. The car has some cosmetic issues such as the bumpers are covered in light scratches that you can see up close but not from a few steps back. The front bumper is missing a little piece of chrome on the drivers side. The hood has a couple small nicks on it and throughout the car have a few minor scratches that can be easily fixed. The paint is about 5 years old but still looks great for the most part. The weather stripping around the windows is original and is cracked and broken off in some areas but it doesn't leak when it rains. Now for the interior...In the last 2 years the car has had new carpet installed, new headliner, the seats reupholstered, the dash redone, the door panels redone, and the rear deck recovered. The drivers side door panel, headliner, and some places on the dash have slight signs of wear but nothing serious. The front drivers side hazard light went out last month. I'm sure its just a fuse, bulb, or connection issue but I currently don't have the time to mess around with the car. All of the other lights inside and outside the car work fine. The tires have great tread on them also. All of the issues I have listed are in the pictures below. This is your chance to get a beautiful car (with very little issues) at a great price. This car does look and run great but is sold as is due to the issues I have listed above. thank-you..

I will include it with the car but you will most likely want to replace it. Sorry for any inconvenience. On Dec-23-13 at 12:15:45 PST, seller added the following information: The reserve price is $6300 |

EcoCar2 is on the hunt for a better, cleaner Chevy Malibu [w/video]
Thu, Jun 12 2014The students spent three years transforming an ordinary Chevy Malibu into a revolutionary vehicle. Not far from the building where General Motors once invented the Chevy Volt, a dozen or so college students are standing on the blacktop alongside a test track, watching a professional driver push the limits of a plug-in hybrid car they've built that's far more radical. These students, from Colorado State University, have spent the past three years transforming an ordinary Chevy Malibu into a revolutionary vehicle. At first glance, it still looks like a regular sedan. But under the hood, they've installed a hybrid powertrain that contains both hydrogen and electric power sources. Even by the standards of the Department of Energy competition they're participating in, it's an outlier. That's exactly what they had in mind. "We didn't want to come here and tell them how to build a better Volt," said Tom Bradley, faculty adviser for the Colorado State team. "They already know how to do that. We can tell them how to think about these possibilities in a whole new way." After three years of work, it all comes down to this. The Colorado State team was one of 15 that came to GM's Milford Proving Grounds last week for the final stretch of the EcoCar2 competition, which challenges regular college students who have no automotive experience to do nothing less than reinvent the American car. The teams have come from across North America, and include schools like Ohio State and Virginia Tech that have a long history of participating in similar competitions, and schools like the University of Washington and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University that are here for the first time. After three years of work, it all comes down to this. The teams have operated 24 hours a day for almost two weeks here at the Proving Grounds, running a gamut of tests that include a 310-point safety inspection, emissions and energy-consumption tests and road tests, in which professional GM drivers ensure they're road worthy. The winning team will be announced tonight in Washington D.C. Revolutionary cars, ordinary package While other green-car competitions encourage extreme designs, this one comes with a somewhat constraining twist: Yes, students must improve fuel economy and reduce emissions, but in the end, they still have to have a car that would appeal to mainstream customers. In practical terms, that means they must keep conveniences like air conditioning and trunk space.

Next-gen GMC Sierra spied with diesel power
Tue, Sep 5 2017The next generation of GM trucks is arriving soon, and we're expecting a huge leap forward over the current lineup. The Chevy Silverado and the GMC SIerra sell extremely well, but haven't done much to move the segment forward in a long time. The Ford F-150 has an all-aluminum body and turbocharged V6 power. The Ram 1500 gained a diesel and coil spring suspension. These spy shots show that diesel may be in the cards for GM. Some quick shots and copious use of flash show what is most likely a tank for diesel exhaust fluid and a diesel particulate filter, both necessary equipment for any modern diesel. It's unclear what form factor that engine will come in, though GM has a number of engines to choose from, including the 2.8-liter inline four that's found in the Colorado and Canyon, though that may be a little light duty for the Silverado and Sierra. Other rumors surrounding the trucks suggest a move to an aluminum cab while retaining a steel bed. That seems like a reasonable move for GM, even if the company was attempting to shame Ford for its move to aluminum a few years ago. Look for more news as early as the Detroit Auto Show in January.
