Hattiesburg, Mississippi, United States

I am selling my 1965 2 door impala project car, the frame is solid with no rot. The car is currently disassembled. Pick up where i left off and finish the job. I do have pictures of the car from when it was originally purchased. I am moving and cannot bring it with me. I have all of the chrome for the drip rails and interior/exterior window trim, door handles, etc. The car had no other side molding trim when i bought it, it also has no rear molding (so you could get your own SS molding if you want) Ive already stripped sanded and primed the sides of the car with epoxy so it is protected from rusting, the lower quarters will need to be replaced. I have 2 grills to go with it, one is bad, the other is decent. I also have a new rear panel for the car. and have already replaced the deck lid. Selling with Bill of sale, I don't have the original title, and i bought it in Georgia where bill of sale is fine, my original bill of sale will go with it to you for records.

Ill work on adding more images to this gallery.

The good:
  • I've already stripped left and right sides of the car down to metal sanded and put epoxy primer on the metal to protect it.
  • I've replaced the rear deck lid(below window) that was starting to rust out.
  • The trunk floor has been replaced with a 3 piece trunk kit, it needs to be finished and sealed up.
  • Gas tank/trunk floor supports have been replaced too.
  • The gas tank is in good condition, as are the straps
  • All the glass is in good condition with no cracks
  • The roof is in good condition and shows no sign of rust or bubbling (i didnt strip it to metal for that reason)
  • The car will come with a rear panel to replace the one that is on it (it is starting to rot out)
  • I started to repair the fenders and have lower patch panels for them and one is already fitted into place
  • The doors open and close solid and are in great shape
  • All the parts are here to put it back together, it still needs work.
  • The car was full of bondo, ive already done the hard work of taking most of it off.
  • Rear seat is in great shape
The bad:
  • It will need lower quarters
  • The bottom of the fenders will need some custom work done to fix the rot.
  • Driverside floor will need a pan, rest of the floor is decent
  • No engine or Trans (i do have the drive shaft)
  • Bumpers will need to be rechromed
  • front seat doesnt match the rest of the interior, all interior is black bench is red.

GM, UAW poaching Nissan workers in Tennessee

Tue, Sep 8 2015

General Motors and the United Auto Workers are going on a recruitment drive at the Spring Hill factory in Tennessee, and they're hoping to poach some skilled workers from Nissan's nearby plant in Smyrna, TN. The General and the union even bought a billboard advertising for industrial electricians near the Japanese automaker's facility, according to the Daily News Journal. The reason for the billboard was simple. "GM was short of electricians," said Tim Stannard, the president of the UAW local at Spring Hill, to the Daily News Journal. The factory currently builds the Chevrolet Equinox but has a contract to assemble the next generation of Ecotec engines and the Cadillac XT5, which replaces the SRX. Thanks to the $185-million deal, employment there is expected to double by May 2016, according to Stannard, with roughly 1,800 additional union jobs. Beyond just several billboards, GM has job postings online for the Spring Hill plant looking for workers with specific skills. There has already been some interest in the positions among Nissan employees, Stannard indicated. According to a recent study by the Center for Automotive Research, the average GM worker currently makes $58 an hour, including benefits. Comparatively, Nissan pays an average of $42 an hour with benefits. The General's number could change in the coming weeks because its contract with the UAW is about to expire, and higher wages are among the major negotiating points.

Steve McQueen's last movie car, now Pawn Stars-owned, up for auction [w/video]

Sun, 03 Feb 2013

The last car Steve McQueen ever drove in a movie is officially up for auction. The 1951 Chevrolet Styline DeLuxe Convertible you see above is now owned by none other than Rick Harrison of Pawn Stars fame, but once ferried McQueen around the set of his last film, 1980's The Hunter. That flick saw the Bullit star play a bumbling bounty hunter and didn't exactly set the box office on fire. McQueen bought the car after production wrapped, and four years later it sold at his estate sale at the Imperial Palace in Las Vegas.
Flash forward to 2003, and the convertible received a full restoration back to near-stock specifications. Hagerty Insurance estimates the car to be worth around $45,000 without the significant providence. Given its ties to one of film's most popular gearheads, the old Chevrolet could fetch up to 10 times that when it goes under the gavel in Ft Luaderdale, Florida on March 22. You can head over to the Auctions America site for more information. You can also check out the trailer for The Hunter below.

Recharge Wrap-up: Chevy Volt's new, improved powertrain; Inabikari wants to build Tesla Model X fighter

Thu, Nov 6 2014

We knew the 2016 Chevrolet Volt's new powertrain would provide more range, but we didn't know how much. According to GM's Executive Director Larry Nitz, it is about 12 percent more, overall. "I can't think of a powertrain we've re-engineered more extensively within a five-year period than this one," he said. The battery, electric drive system and gasoline generator have all been reworked to allow for an overall driving range of up to 425 miles, with electric range speculated to reach 42 miles or more. The new Volt will also benefit from 20 percent quicker low-end acceleration, weight reductions and improvements in NVH. Read more at Hybrid Cars and at the SAE website. Hyundai's FCEV research and development boss, Dr. Sae-Hoon Kim, is optimistic about the future of hydrogen mobility in Japan. With the Tucson Fuel Cell already in production ahead of Toyota's FCV, Hyundai has a foothold in the hydrogen car scene. Kim believes that since the Fukushima disaster, Japan's attitudes toward energy make it friendly to a growing hydrogen economy. He also says that hydrogen won't be limited to Hyundai, with Kia getting all the battery EVs. "Both types are for both companies," Kim says. "For the moment, volumes are small and it is not wise to have Hyundai and Kia competing." Read more at Just Auto. The Latvian/German startup Inabikari is using crowdfunding to build an electric crossover for Europe. The Rev.01 EV hopes to compete with Tesla's upcoming Model X with a range of over 400 miles and a five-second 0-60 time. The group currently is trying to raise initial funds through an Indiegogo campaign, with hopes of more investment in the future and sales beginning in 2017. See the video below, and read more at Hybrid Cars and at the Inabikari website. Fuel economy and emissions regulations could lead to some interesting design changes to automobiles. The World Light Duty Test Procedure, set to replace the New European Driving Cycle in 2017, will push automakers to find new ways to reduce drag on their vehicles. For better aerodynamics, we could see traditional side-view mirrors replaced by cameras that display what they see on screens inside the vehicle. Another likely change will be the introduction of smaller, narrower wheels. Improving the average drag coefficient from 0.32 to 0.20 could reduce CO2 emissions by as much as 20 percent.
