If you are looking for a 1965 Impala to take to work on a Friday or go to the corner store with, this car is not for you. However, if you are a discerning individual who appreciates a highly detailed original car with excellent pedigree and ostensibly a "new" 1965, this car is for you.

Let's start with the basics...a real Ralley Red 1965 Impala SS 16667 VIN car with a very early build date.

A fantastic unit with original quarter panels and floor pans. The car retains it's 327/300hp powerplant which was rebuilt about 1500 miles ago. The powerglide transmission and 3.08 Positraction rear end were also extensively overhauled at that time. The 327 fires to life instantly and calms down to a nice, quiet idle almost instantaneously. The powerglide pops right into gear, and the brakes stop straight and true with no pulling or pulsating in the pedal. All wittek type tower clamps are used in the cooling system, along with correct GM marked PN correct radiator hoses. I also noticed the use of original type "ribbed" heater hoses.

Cosmetically, the car is fantastic. The car has one repaint in code RR "Ralley Red". The car is arrow straight and the paint is of the PPG 2 stage variety. I can't find appreciable flaw in the paint. I see no signs of rust repair on the fenders or quarter panels, I used a reverse mirror and a flashlight and could see no evidence of any repairs.

The interior retains all it's fantastic original pieces, sans the carpet, which candidly is just too fresh to be of concurrent vintage of the vehicle. All lights, signals, ect. appear to work as they were designed. The radio, for whatever reason, is inoperable. The engine bay and trunk are both highly detailed as is the underside of the car. Moreover, all factory paint daubs and inspection markings have been faithfully reproduced. The convertible top is power, and is white. The top has excellent fitment and has no visible flaws or evidence of age or wear. The rear window is plastic and is stowed down with a towel in the fold of the top, to mitigate any wear in the rear window. Good thinking! I've washed the car myself and purposely sprayed water at all typical leak locations around the top frame and the tops of the windows to see if any water would get in, which would be typical of a Chevy of this vintage, however...the car is water tight.

The car only deviates from it's as delivered condition insofar as the exhaust has been converted to headers and a nice 2.5" flowmaster exhaust, and the distributor has been swapped out to a later, HEI distributor to do away with the troublesome and antiquated points type distributor.

This vehicle was purchased through an estate, with several other vehicles. I have not had the opportunity to take the car but to the gas station to put fresh gas in the tank because the weather has been very foul here outside of Chicago and I refuse to expose this work of automotive art to the elements.

It is my understanding that this vehicle was part of a now defunct Las Vegas hotel display and now sits in my climate controlled warehouse waiting to be shipped to your home.

My reason for selling the vehicle is that my collection has outgrown it's stable, and the car should be in the hands of a collector that can show the car.

The car is sold AS-IS, where is. I've done my best to describe the aforementioned vehicle as best as I can, however...if you feel there is something I missed or you are requesting additional information on this unit, please...do not hesitate to call me at any reasonable hour at 312 622 7533

It should be noted this this car is for sale locally as well as on other venues, and quite candidly, this auction may be removed at anytime in the event the car is sold by other means.

Chevy Chaparral 2X Vision Gran Turismo concept blends the past and the future

Wed, 19 Nov 2014

The Chevrolet Chaparral 2X Vision Gran Turismo is the rare concept car that salutes a seminal moment in history, yet also borders on science fiction.
Revealed Wednesday at the Los Angeles Auto Show, the concept uses the name of one of Chevy's historic racing partnerships, with Chaparral Racing, which dates to the 1960s. Chaparrals raced successfully at a range of levels, including IndyCar, Trans-Am and SCCA competition.
But the history ends there, as the concept's main purpose is as a racecar in a downloadable update for the PlayStation 3 game Gran Turismo 6.

GM recalling 15k midsize pickups over leaky brakes

Mon, Jun 8 2015

General Motors has announced a recall in coordination with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration related to the brakes on the 2015 Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon. In the 14,838 units in the United States estimated to be affected, the front brake calipers may be leaking fluid. Needless to say, that could make them less effective, which could hinder the vehicle's ability to stop in time to avoid a collision. The affected units were all manufactured between January 6 and December 24, 2014. The fix seems simple and straightforward enough, with dealers being instructed to inspect the front brake calipers, and replace them if necessary. See below for all the details from NHTSA. RECALL Subject : Brake Fluid Leak Report Receipt Date: MAY 12, 2015 NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V278000 Component(s): SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC Potential Number of Units Affected: 14,838 Manufacturer: General Motors LLC SUMMARY: General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2015 Chevrolet Colorado, and GMC Canyon trucks manufactured January 6, 2014, to December 24, 2014. The affected vehicles may experience the front brake calipers leaking brake fluid. This is due to air pockets, an imperfection in the metal caliper body. CONSEQUENCE: If the vehicle experiences a brake fluid leak it can increase the stopping distance, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash. REMEDY: GM will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and replace the front-brake calipers if necessary, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin July 10, 2015. Owners may contact GM customer service at 1-800-222-1020 (Chevrolet), or 1-800-462-8782 (GMC). GM's number for this recall is 14888. NOTES: Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov. This is how GM is hiding new Chevy Volt in public

Wed, Oct 1 2014

General Motors is letting the public know that, well, it's not about to let the public know anything else about the next-generation Chevrolet Volt. But the automaker is willing to talk about its camouflaging process for upcoming versions of the extended-range plug-in. So it's a half-hearted secret, at best. GM actually has a "camouflage engineer" charged with creating ways to disguise the styling of new vehicles. In the Volt's case, the company is applying black and white swirly color patterns on top of the materials, such as plastics, vinyl and foam, that are used liberally across the body. It's all part of a teaser campaign that started last month with pictures of part the 2016 Volt. Earlier this month, GM said it was keeping track of Volt drivers' habits as it works on the next-gen model. The company noted that more than four out of five trips are being made in all-electric driving mode, and that 60 percent of Volt owners use a plain-old 100-volt outlet to recharge their cars. The car is slated to make its global debut at Detroit's North American International Auto Show next January, and the early word is that performance and all-electric range will be improved (we should hope so). The car will also be sleeker. By how much, we can't tell yet, because of those darn swirly patterns. GM's got more non-details in its press release below. Engineers charged with hiding styling while vehicle testing proceeds in public DETROIT – The styling of the next-generation Chevrolet Volt is one of the automotive world's best-kept secrets. Keeping customers and media eager to see the successor to the groundbreaking original at bay until the new Volt debuts at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit in January is tricky business. First, it is engineers, not designers, who are charged with creating camouflage that balances styling secrecy with the need to validate the Volt and its systems in public. "If it were up to me it would be a shoebox driving down the road," said Lionel Perkins, GM camouflage engineer. "The design team wants us to cover more of the vehicle and the engineering team needs to have enough of the vehicle's weight and aero exposed so that the tests in the development process are consistent with the product that will come to market." The engineers responsible for the "cool" designs covering the car might deserve style points but their efforts are intended strictly to hide the metal beneath.
