This is a very clean '65 Impala.  It originally came out of Texas....so I was told, and by looking at the body I believe it.  This is not an expensive show car, but a nice affordable driver.  You can drive this car to work or the grocery store during the weekday, and then enter it in a car show on the weekend.  It has a non-matching numbers 350 c.i. motor, (block casting number 3970010) with the original 2-spd Power Glide automatic transmission.  I don't know what rear end gears it has.  Basically everything on this car is original except the motor.  The front and rear bumpers as well as the exterior trim is all original.  Along with everything on the inside.  There are NO RIPS or HOLES in the seats or headliner.  Sun visors are nice.  It also has the original AM Radio and dash clock, but they don't work...at least they are there!!!

It has an Edelbrock manifold and 600 cfm carb, HEI Distributor, custom made dual exhaust with Flowmaster mufflers, that sound nice, and the tailpipes are nicely tucked up underneath.  Not like some you see that hang down and look terrible.  Rear air shocks, 4 new tires mounted on American Racing rims that look like Centerline rims.  All the gauges work, as well as the Speedometer and Odometer.  It says 33000 miles but it's probably not the actual mileage.  Horn, turn signals, brake lights, back up lights, license plate light, head lights, wipers, all work.  This car is currently NYS Inspected and on the road.  Took it out a couple days ago when it got warm here.....which have been few and far between.

Since this car is not perfect, there are some small issues.  The motor does blow some blue smoke when it first starts, or when it's been sitting for a long time, and there is a valve cover oil leak that I just haven't taken the time to fix.  There has been some body filler put in around the bottom corner of the drivers door, and on the bottom inside edge of the trunk lid.  An easy fix for a Body Man.  Other than that the floors are all solid and in good condition.  No holes in the trunk floor.  All the glass is good....oh...I should mention that a girl had this car before me, and etched "Casper the friendly Ghost" on both of the rear side back windows.  I'm guessing she called it "Casper" !!!!!  It still looks kinda cool....you can barely see it.

I really wish I could keep this car, but I don't have the room for it anymore.  It was always garaged when not being used, but now it's going to have to sit outside.  I love this body style because there is no side pillar, and it looks sleek with the windows down. Nice long roof line.   I'm pricing this car to sell with NO RESERVE.  You bid...you're in the running.  A $1000.00 deposit is required within 48 hours of the end of the Auction into my Paypal account.  Balance do in CASH at the time of pick up.  NO sales outside the USA.  NO personal checks, Money Orders, or Bank Checks.  I use to....but almost got scammed.  So now I don't take that chance anymore.  You might want to just hit the "Buy it Now" button before the bidding passes that amount.

2016 Chevy Volt powertrain technical details

Wed, Feb 11 2015

The last time General Motors launched a Chevy Volt, it was operating without really knowing how people would use the plug-in hybrid. Sure, it had experience with the EV1, but the Volt was a new kind of car, and you can see in the archives just how much time GM spent explaining this fresh, new powertrain to potential customers. Then, once the vehicle was released, the company collected voluntary data from a large number of owners to learn about their driving and charging habits. The company also asked them what they wanted most in the new version. There's got to be an algorithm buried somewhere in GM headquarters that was used to take all of the numbers GM collected and spat out the headline figures for the 2016 Volt: 50 miles of EV range and 41 miles per gallon. Another important number – price – is something GM isn't talking about yet (expect it in April or May), but the company is sharing some powertrain details about the upcoming car. At a preview lunch in Detroit last week for the SAE 2015 Hybrid & Electric Vehicles Technologies Symposium that's happening now in California, GM engineers Peter Savagian (who is presenting a paper on the new inverter used in the updated Volt) and Tim Grewe (talking about the entire second-generation powertrain) sat down with AutoblogGreen to tell us about the Volt's all-new propulsion system: The overall gist is that the new Voltec 5ET50 drive unit is lighter, smaller and more powerful thanks to a redesigned two-motor traction drive. As previously reported, the new engine is a 1.5-liter DOHC four-cylinder that offers 101-horsepower (at 5,600 RPM). Grewe said it's "great for range extension." The electric motor side of the powertrain offers 149 motoring horsepower from a two-motor, continuously variable transaxle. Initially, the new engine will be made in Mexico. GM will move production to Flint, MI during the first year it makes the 2016 Volt. The battery is slightly bigger in the new Volt – 18.4 kWh compared to 16.5 in the current-gen – and will have less range variation in the cold. GM is also using more of the overall capacity in the pack in the 2016 Volt than in previous versions, but is not saying how much more. GM is not ready to publish acceleration times just yet, but the 2016 Volt has improved numbers, especially when going from 30-60 miles per hour. Most everything on the new powertrain has become more efficient compared to the first-gen Volt.

First 2016 Chevy Volt commercial rocks us to sleep

Fri, Jan 30 2015

The 2016 Chevrolet Volt, with its thorough restyling and increased all-electric range, is an exciting evolution of Chevy's groundbreaking plug-in hybrid, so it's only fitting that the commercial campaign to sell it to the masses also be engaging and vibrant. Well, the first ad has just been officially released and it rocks... us to sleep. Now, we get that General Motors didn't want to repeat past Volt-commercial mistakes. No one wants to see dogs licking feet or dumb (and weirdly horny) aliens again. Nor would it be smart to slam all-electric vehicles, since it now sells the Spark EV and has just revealed its 200-mile Bolt concept. So, what does that leave? How about a mostly computer-generated spot that relies on cliche images and an upbeat synthetic soundtrack to communicate that the Volt is now as boring as other four-door appliances? An intro, featuring a lightly-bearded gentleman peering at his tablet through designer glasses launches us into the action as the Volt makes its way across a city bridge, then a curvaceous country road. Chevrolet doesn't include voiceover to inform you that the new Volt has a 50-mile battery-only range. There's no mention of its gas mileage once its electric charge is depleted – items that just might be of importance to hybrid buyers. The ad also makes no attempt at establishing an emotional connection, either through drama or comedy. There are, however, lots of fast cuts of the new, normalized interior, including a two-second detail shot featuring the windshield wiper switch. We imagine that this is only the first in a series of spots that will tell the Volt story and motivate potential buyers to run down to their local dealer, hopefully the next spots will be more interesting and informative. Jaguar I-Pace vs. Tesla Model 3 and other EVs: How they compare on paper

Thu, Mar 1 2018

The 200-mile club of electric vehicles is really growing. The most recent member is the Jaguar I-Pace, the company's first pure EV. It promises luxury, performance, style, and most important, good range. Nearly as recent is the Hyundai Kona EV, and while it doesn't promise luxury or performance like the Jaguar (it's also smaller), it does pack impressive range. With the introduction of both of these electric cars, we thought we would see how they compare against each other, and the other two big names in high-capacity electric cars: the Chevy Bolt EV and the Tesla Model 3. This isn't intended to be a direct, apples-to-apples comparison, as the four are quite different. If anything, they break into two groups: bigger and more luxurious, and smaller and less expensive. Then again, the number of vehicles with this electric range is small and comparisons to EV's with less range wouldn't be too kind to the other guys. If you want to learn more about these EVs, and compare them with other cars, be sure to check out our Car Finder and comparison tools. Horsepower and torque There is one clear winner here, and that's the Jaguar I-Pace. It packs a whopping 394 horsepower and 512 pound-feet of torque. That comes through a pair of electric motors (one at the front, another at the rear) that provide the Jag with all-wheel drive, the only one of these vehicles to offer it (at the moment). Altogether, it allows the I-Pace to have the best 0-60 mph time of 4.5 seconds. At the other end of the spectrum is the Hyundai Kona EV. It's front-drive, like the Bolt EV, and has effectively the same amount of horsepower as the Chevy at 201 horsepower, but its 0-60-mph time is almost a second slower. And the low-range version of the Kona, excluded because it doesn't go more than 200 miles between charges, is slower still. The Tesla Model 3 is the only vehicle with rear-wheel drive, and with a 0-60 mph of 5.1 seconds for the Long Range model, it is still very quick. Range and energy use Frequently, the all-consuming question with electric cars is, "How far can I go on a charge?" And to go the farthest, you need the long-range Tesla Model 3. It can go 310 miles. It has the added advantage of being able to use the network of Tesla Supercharger stations, though they are pay-per-use with the Model 3. Even the lower capacity Model 3, with just 220 miles of range, can use these stations.
