I'm selling the family heirloom. This 1963 Impala 4 door hardtop has been in my family since we purchased it from the original owner in Upland, CA in 1986 after he went out and bought himself a new Oldsmobile. At that time it was completely original including the seat fabric and it ran like new. The car was originally equipped with the following:
250HP 327
Powerglide
Power Steering
Power Brakes
Soft Ray Tinted Glass-all windows
Padded Dash
Pushbutton Radio with rear speaker
Full wheel covers

It was my sister and her husband who bought the car and were only able to keep it for a short time because they could not properly store it. So I bought it from them and kept it until 1990 when they moved and were able to buy it back. Fast forward to 2011 when my sister decided to sell the car because it had sat in their yard (in the high desert of Southern CA for 7 years) and was in need of a total restoration now that they were not able to do. The crazy thing was all it needed was a new starter which my brother in law bought but never installed. I bought the car back, had it hauled back to Sacramento, put the starter in and changed the fluids and she fired up and has been running ever since. Then I restored it for nostalgic reasons. However, now I must sell a car because of having found a new project.

I did a body on restoration and removed every piece of trim inside and out, sent the car out to be bead blasted then had it repainted the original Azure Aqua/ Ermine White two tone. Other than a couple of small dents the body was straight and rust free. In putting the car back together I used very little reproduction trim. Instead I sent everything out to be re chromed, polished or re anodized. Even the armrest bases were sent out and re chromed at Mr G's in Texas because they don't reproduce the rear armrest bases for these models.  Back in the 80's we added the grille guard which I had re chromed with the bumpers. The only reproduction trim pieces are the grille (but not the headlight bezels), the dash trim, the front fender trim bars, license plate panels, door sill plates, rear bumper guards, hood and trunk emblems, "The "Chevrolet" hood moulding, and the dome light houses. While I had everything out, I repainted the dash, installed a tilt steering column, added power seat,  a 50's-60's era rear window defogger that was NOS in the box and I also ran vacuum line through the car because I wanted to install power trunk release but never found a suitable set up. I had the original radio retrofitted to an AM/FM conversion and an NOS antenna. All of the wiring was replaced with factory correct M&H electric wiring harnesses. I also replaced the gas tank sending unit with a correct NOS unit that I found on eBay. Everything works on the car including the clock.

In putting the interior together I went with a 1964 Impala seat cover set and door panels from Ciadella because when I bought the car back, I was restoring a 1963 Impala that was the same color so I wanted something different this time. I had both the windshield and the back window removed so that the rubber could be replaced. I had a new tinted windshield installed, and had all the stainless trim fore and aft buffed out before re installing. All weatherstripping has been replaced. Below I have included a link to a photbucket account showing the car while undergoing restoration.

I have links available for additional PhotoBucket pictures and a full walkaround on YouTube. Please contact me through the listing for the links.

While I've tried to make the car look like new, I did not touch the engine compartment which is what needs attention. My brother in law sometime in the mid 90's junked the original 327 and had a rebuilt 327 installed at some shop. The motor I was told is correct for a 66-68 truck with a manual transmission with an hp rating of 220 but I never ran the numbers to be sure. The motor leaks oil and is filthy but it runs great The accelerator pump in the carb is a little weak and it bucks a little when you stomp on the gas but it does fine crusing around town and on the highway at 60-70mph. It still has the cars original Rochester 4bbl on it, as well as, the original Powerglide. I intended to have a correct 250HP motor rebuilt and installed but never got that far. I have had the steering system including the power steering components checked and replaced as needed, brakes have been serviced, it has a new battery and starter, along with a new stock dual exhaust system. It also has 5 new tires and 4 new Monroe hydraulic shock absorbers.

In short a very nice car that gets a lot of attention when I take it out. The plates are original to the car and have been restored. Tags are good till October 2013. I drive the car daily to work and it has never let me down. Everything works on the car except the CD connection to the radio and the turn signals only work in two of the positions on the tilt column. This is probably an adjustment in the wire that connects to the turn signal switch but I have never investigated to find out because I found I don't really move the steering wheel too much.

I'd keep it but I just bought another Impala and I have two 63's so I have elected to let this one go. I've tried to list everything I could think of to say because I know that it can be difficult to assess such a large purchase on a site like this. If you have any questions please feel free to ask.

Car is being sold AS IS/WHERE IS. Buyer is responsible for arranging transport if not picking the car up in person. I use the web site USHIP to help me establish quotes for transport when I buy a car from out of the area and have had very good results. I reserve the right to end the auction at any time as I may list the car locally.

Thanks for looking.

GM won't sell 2014 Chevrolet SS in Canada

Thu, 21 Feb 2013

Allow us to be the first to extend our condolences to our friends to the north. General Motors has announced the 2014 Chevrolet SS will not be available in Canada. The Globe and Mail reports the automaker has confirmed the high-performance sedan won't hit Canadian dealers, though GM hasn't offered up any reasoning as to why that is.
Buyers here in the US of A, meanwhile, can look forward to getting their hands on the 415-horspower, rear-wheel drive SS by late summer. Something tells us it won't be long after that before Canadian officials start seeing individually imported 6.2-liter V8 four-doors in their neighborhoods. Fortunately, Canadian buyers will still be able to take home the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette. The C7 bowed at the Canadian International Auto Show last week, reportedly drawing sizable crowds and interest.

Weekly Recap: Lincoln Continental serves up the style, Cadillac CT6 delivers the substance in New York

Sat, Apr 4 2015

Lincoln and Cadillac grabbed the spotlight this week at the New York Auto Show in a dramatic fashion that evoked the brands' glory days. America's two luxury carmakers went toe-to-toe with their glittering reveals and plans for ambitious expansion. Both were selling their technology, style and the promise of a better future. Cadillac vs. Lincoln. At the Javits Center, 2015 seemed a lot like 1956. Neither company was interested in drawing comparisons with the other, which is fair, and accurate. They're in vastly different places in terms of sales and the pace of their turnarounds, but they hope to reach the same eventual destination at the pinnacle of the luxury-car world. Lincoln used the element of surprise to great effect with the Continental concept. A production version is still at least a year away, and the company was vague on details. Officially, we don't even know if it is front- or rear-wheel drive, though speculation abounds. Who cares? The seats can be adjusted 30 ways! The Continental also showed off a bold chrome grille that will be the new face of Lincoln. The blue bomber also rolled on blinged-out 21-inch polished aluminum wheels, used a 3.0-liter EcoBoost engine and had huge LED head lights with "laser-assisted" high beams. All of this resulted in almost blinding attention. The concept drew rave reviews, stirred controversy with Bentley designers who argued Lincoln ripped them off, and most importantly, pointed a way forward for the newly determined brand that hopes to compete with Mercedes, BMW, Audi, Cadillac and Lexus. View 32 Photos Meanwhile, Cadillac showed the CT6, a finished product that will top its range and is loaded with the best and latest technologies General Motors has at its disposal. With production starting late this year, Cadillac had more specifics at the ready. Engines? Cadillac has a couple V6s and a turbo four for sure. It's working on a hybrid, and has considered a V-Series variant. It's based on a new rear-wheel-drive, aluminum-intensive chassis called Omega, features an advanced collision-mitigation system with automatic braking and has a cabin that's laden with "leathers, exotic woods and carbon fiber." It will be assembled at GM's Detroit-Hamtramck factory and goes on sale next year. At this point, Cadillac is more than willing to talk about every except for the price. The devil was not in the details for Cadillac, as evidenced by the CT6. But it wasn't for Lincoln either.

Supercharged 2015 Chevy Corvette Z06 takes the C7 beyond the ZR1

Mon, 13 Jan 2014

The Z06 is just about everything we got in the last ZR1, but better.
After a bright-yellow false start, here is the real thing: the fourth-generation, 2015 Corvette Z06. If Chevrolet makes a ZR1 version of the C7 Corvette, it's going to be absolutely mega, because the Z06 is just about everything we got in the last ZR1, but better.
