Up for auction is this cool, 1959 Impala 4 door Flat top.  This car is very unique as its an original Level Air car with its Original 280hp 348 tri-power engine(GB suffix code which is for a powerglide 280hp tripower)!  The original color cameo coral is a color you do not see very often either.  This 59 started its life in Wyoming and ended up in Colorado. It is a solid car with the exception of its trunk pan and lower rear quarters.  Around the headlights are SOLID, the rockers are Solid, the floor pans are solid, and the unique Level air frame is solid.  I do have the pans for the trunk from Cars inc. that will go with the sale.  Around the gas tank filler neck is solid so all that needs repaired are the pans themselves.
As far as the level air stuff left on the car.  The Level air emblem is still on the rear of the car, the shock towers obviously, the pulleys and the valve on the intake are all there.  The canister and compressor are missing.  The parts are out there and what a cool car this would be if you put the level air back on it.  You see clones but this is a REAL level air car!
The 280hp 348 tri-power does run and the car drives.  It still retains its original air cleaner.  There is only one center carb as the previous owner removed the front and rear carb.  I do have some builders i can throw in the deal too.  This car is also optioned with power steering, power brakes, bumper guard and padded dash (dash is cracked).
The interior needs to be redone from the elements taking its toll on it.  I removed the carpet so you can see how SOLID the floor pans are.  The headliner has a tear down one seam but looks like it can be repaired.  The front windshield has a few pits in it but all other glass is good.
I do have all new wiring harnesses for the firewall forward.  The old wiring harnesses were shot as seen in the photo.  I do have new mirrors for the car, i have a rear valance for it and also the stock wheels and caps.  (Wheels in the photos DO NOT come with the car)  I do have practically everything needed to put the car back together.  Please call with questions, 303-929-9660 prior to bidding.  If your feedback is below 10 please call me before bidding.  Car is sold as is!  Good luck and do not miss out on this rare unique, level air, big block, 4 door flat top.
I have a bunch of 59 parts too and always looking for 1959 Impala convertibles and hardtops.

GM recalling 316k vehicles due to headlamp faults

Mon, Dec 1 2014

General Motors has announced a recall covering 316,357 vehicles globally, due to the possibility of sporadic or permanent failure of the low-beam headlamps. 273,182 of these vehicles are in the United States, while the remaining affected units are in Canada, Mexico, and elsewhere. This recall includes the 2006-09 Buick LaCrosse (pictured above), 2006-07 Chevy TrailBlazer and TrailBlazer EXT, 2006-07 GMC Envoy and 2006 GMC Envoy XL, 2006-07 Buick Rainier, 2006-08 Saab 9-7X, and 2006-08 Isuzu Ascender. In an email sent to Autoblog, General Motors explains that if the headlamp driver modules are not functioning correctly, "the low-beam headlamps and daytime running lamps could intermittently or permanently fail to illuminate." GM states that this problem does not affect things like high-beams, turn signals, marker lamps, or foglamps. As of this writing, GM states it "has not been able to confirm whether the HDMs in these vehicles caused any vehicle accidents." The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has been notified, but the recall has not yet posted to the government agency's website. Scroll down to read the full details in GM's email. General Motors is recalling 273,182 Buick LaCrosse sedans and Chevrolet, GMC, Buick, Saab and Isuzu midsize SUVs in the U.S. for possible intermittent or permanent loss of low beam headlamps. Affected models are: 2006-2009 Buick LaCrosse sedans; 2006-2007 Chevrolet TrailBlazer and 2006 TrailBlazer EXT; 2006-2007 GMC Envoy and 2006 Envoy XL; 2006-2007 Buick Rainier; 2006-2008 Saab 9-7X and 2006-2008 Isuzu Ascender midsize SUVs. If the headlamp driver modules is not operating correctly, the low-beam headlamps and daytime running lamps could intermittently or permanently fail to illuminate. This condition does not affect the high-beam headlamps, marker lamps, turn signals, or fog lamps. GM has not been able to confirm whether the HDMs in these vehicles caused any vehicle accidents. The total population, including the U.S., Canada, Mexico and exports from North America is 316,357. The NHTSA was sent the Part 573 information for this recall on November 25. It has not yet posted to the NHTSA website. Anti-purist 1963 Ferrari GTE sports hot rod Chevy V8

Thu, Oct 8 2015

I remember reading a story around the time Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift came out. It focused on one of the star cars of that film, a 1967 Ford Mustang fastback that started the film as a shell, and in a pinch, was transformed into a modified masterpiece, complete with the RB26DETT engine from a Nissan Skyline GT-R (which started the film under the hood of an S15 Silvia). There was a genuine (and in our minds, absurd) fear in the article that taking a piece of classic American iron and fitting a twin-turbocharged JDM engine would result in some awful trend in the classic car community. If you thought a GT-R-powered classic Mustang was sacrilege, though, this car will probably make you vomit. For the rest of us, it's a neat piece of engineering. Shown above is a 1963 Ferrari 250 GTE, and yes, that's a 302-cubic-inch, small-block Chevrolet V8 under the hood. On top of that, it uses the six-speed manual transmission from a Viper, a nine-inch Ford rear end, and Mitsubishi-sourced paint. So yeah, it's a FrankenFerrari. Check out Road Heads' interview with this custom GTE's owner, which is followed by a brief test drive. And of course, head into Comments afterwards, and let us know what you think. Is this Yankee-powered 250 GTE blasphemous or badass?

Ford, Toyota clean up in Best Car For The Money Awards

Fri, 22 Feb 2013

The U.S. News Best Cars for the Money Awards picks winners by looking at the average transaction price, five-year total cost of ownership, the regard a car has from the automotive press, reliability figures from J.D. Power and Associates and safety data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. The result, according to the magazine, is "the best combination of critical acclaim and long-term value."
Ford nabbed six of the 21 categories that received awards this year, the Focus, Fusion, Fusion Hybrid, Taurus, Escape and Edge getting trophies. Toyota and its Lexus and Scion sub-brands took another five, the Tacoma and Tundra owning the two categories given to pickup trucks. The other ten awards were split between Honda with three, Buick with two, and one each for Subaru, BMW, Hyundai, Chevrolet and Mazda.
