1997 Chevy G1500 Express Mark III (3) LE Conversion Van (seven passenger). I had just purchased the van a few months ago, but two days after purchasing, I was layed off from my job . I must now unfortunatly sell it for financial reasons. It is in very nice condition! 171,968 well cared for miles w/maintenance receipts from the last three years. The van has always started instantly, idles smoothly, shifts and runs perfectly - NO ISSUES. 5.7 V-8 with four speed automatic transmission (w/overdrive). Very smooth and plush handling; quiet and comfortable. This is a beautiful Mark III LE conversion with lots of wood work and cool upper side + top center ceiling lighting accents in wood trim. Cruise control, electric widows & locks. Lighted vanity mirrors in both visors. Foot well entry lights. The van has never been smoked in. The seats are in excellent condition with no stains or tears. The pictures do not show them, but front and rear floor mats are included. The van has just had the seats and carpeting professionally cleaned. It does have the typical scratches and a couple very mild dents here on the body that you would expect it to have after time, but still looks very nice inside and out. The "pop-top" has areas where the clear coat has flaked off, but many I have seen from about 2005 and older year models have the same issue. There is two small dents in the rear bumper and one small one in the front bumper. You can also see a couple mild dents in the rear left door at the far left lower area. The van has never had a hitch on it (never towed anything). The rear seat has an electric switch which allows it to lay flat for a bed (up/down switch). ICE COLD front and rear A/C with three speed blower fan on the rear unit. Also rear heat (w/three speed blower). New tires, air filter and oil / filter change. Anti-freeze flush/replacement. Plugs and plug wires were replaced last year. Also new front end parts including idler arms and ball joints. Nearly every serviceable item plus an upgrade to current high-output air conditioning components has been performed in the last couple years by the previous owner. Everything works except the power antenna - I had a bird fly up into it breaking the upper half off. Factory owners manual is in the center storage console. Included is a front license plate mounting bracket/frame. Two sets of keys/remotes included. It is ready to hit either coast or anywhere you choose. The van is also advertised locally, so the auction may be shut down early if sold outside eBay. If you live far away, fly into XNA (NW Arkansas/Fayetteville); I'll pick you up and you can drive it home! Thanks for looking!

I forgot to add that the van has a TV, DVD/CD player, AM/FM/cassette and VHS players. The previous owner has added the DVD/CD which is a Blaupunkt 6 CD/DVD holder/player with a wired-in remote control. Also electric drivers seat adjustment buttons and electric rear view mirror adjusters.

I missed a few features the van has: TV/DVD/CD/AM/FM Cassette/VHS. The previous owner had added the Blaupunkt DVD/CD player with wired-in remote. Also the drivers seat is electrically adjustable as are both outside rear-view mirrors.

GM files for Z71 Trail Boss trademark
Mon, Jan 26 2015Try as they might to keep their plans a secret, automakers have their hands tipped through a variety of methods – be they through loose lips, spy shots or patent and trademark applications. That's how we know, in this instance, that General Motors is working on (or at least considering) an off-road machine wearing the name Z71 Trail Boss – the name which our compatriots at AutoGuide.com tell us that GM has registered for use on light-duty trucks. Now if that alphanumeric designator sounds familiar, it should. GM has long used it to designate the off-road packages on many of its body-on-frame trucks from Chevy and GMC. These days you can order a Z71 package on the Chevy Colorado, Silverado, Tahoe and Suburban and on the GMC Canyon, Sierra and Yukon. The package typically includes components like a beefed-up suspension bits, high-capacity air cleaner and underbody protection plates. The Trail Boss designator would seem to suggest something further reaching than a suspension package, though. Just what it would entail we don't know; minds immediately start running toward Chevy or GMC going after the Ford F-150 Raptor, but we'll likely be looking at something closer to the Trailhawk packages Jeep offers on the likes of the Renegade and Cherokee. 800k car names trademarked globally, suddenly alphanumerics seem reasonable
Tue, 01 Oct 2013What's in a name? This cliched phrase probably gets tossed out at every marketing meeting that happens when a new car gets its nomenclature. We know the answer, though: everything. The name of a car has all the potential to make or break it with fickle customers that are more conscious than ever about what their purchases say about them.
That's giving headaches to marketing folks across the automotive industry. "It's tough. In 1985 there were about 75,000 names trademarked in the automotive space. Today there are 800,000," Chevrolet's head of marketing, Russ Clark, told Automotive News. Infiniti's president, Johan de Nysschen, echoed Clark's sentiment, saying, "The truth of the matter is, across the world, there is hardly a name or a letter that hasn't already been claimed by one car manufacturer or another. You can go through the alphabet - A, B, C and so forth - and you will quickly see that almost all available letters are taken."
What has that left automakers to do? Get creative. In the case of Infiniti, it made the controversial move to bring all of its cars' names into a new scheme, classifying them as Q#0 for cars and QX#0 for SUVs and crossovers. So the Infiniti G, which was available as the G25 and G37, is now the Q50. The FX37 and FX50 are now the QX70.
Take a close look at the guts of the Chevy Volt battery, powertrain
Sat, Aug 9 2014Just how intimate would you like to get with the powertrain in a Chevy Volt? If you're anything like YouTube user d55guy, then spending a half hour filming yourself taking apart the battery pack, motor, inverter and more for a look inside sounds like your idea of fun. After all, this way you get to see the cooling system, the heavy safety kill switch and count up the individual cells in the battery modules. Fun! Turns out, we also enjoy languidly paced Volt dissection video goodness, and we think you might want to see it as well. So, we've embedded two videos below and if you don't have a better understanding of how the Volt is put together after watching them, well, at least you can't say we never tried to show you anything. Given that what's really happening here is the organized 'destruction' of an expensive and potentially dangerous object, let's talk safety. There's a serious disclaimer at the beginning of the videos and on the YouTube description page, but we feel the need to repeat the gist of it here: do not try this at home. The creator of the video says he is a trained engineer and has been doing things like this "for the better part of a decade," so he apparently knows what he's doing. With that in mind, watch it all below. When you're done seeing the insides of a Volt powertrain up close, if you need more filmed EV dissection/destruction, check out this video designed for first responders approaching a damaged Tesla Model S.
