This  Real 1968 SS 396 El Camino has been sitting in a barn in Pennsylvania for 13 years... I first got it in 1988, drove it until 2000 then sold it to  a friend,  who got it for his wife in Pa. (he is a O/O for United Van Lines) she died in 1989 and the El Camino sat in the barn for13 years.... My friend finally agreed to sell it back to me in 2013, I got it home to Az and hurt my shoulder ,so now I must sell it .... That is the Story ... so now to the car

I got it with a bad knock in the motor in 1988, put in a 454 for 8 years then REBUILT the ORIGIONAL 396... bored .030, 9.0 comp pistons ,crank turned to 10-10, mild cam ,mild clean up port on heads.....has aluminum intake manifold and holly carb.... I put in a 700 R4 trans w/mild shift kit ( gets 20 mpg on road)... has 12 bolt posi rear W/3.08 gears...A/C...Power Steering...Power brakes (drum but have disc parts for front)

In 2013 when I got it back... I rebuilt carb, drained and flushed fuel tank, replaced the power brake booster and master cylinder, wheel cylinders , brake lines...Put on 4 NEW tires... I have driven it around the block so I know it RUNS AND DRIVES, motor is STRONG  and transmission SHIFTS GOOD....

The BAD.... surface rust under side ( dirt floor in barn)... rust hole LF fender see pic (patch panel available $25.00 )... trans rear seal...rear end pinion seal

If I were going to keep it... I would put in a Wiring kit...fix fender hole...dent driver door....heater core...Paint... remove and detail under hood and engine....install disc front brakes ...,.I am sure I have forgotten a few things so CALL ME and ask questions... I have tried to hit all the big Items..... I would not try to drive it home... I live in Lake Havasu City Az. ...I can deliver inside my enclosed trailer for $1.75 a loaded mile....

I reserve the right to end auction early as I have the truck for sale locally

2015 Chevy Tahoe gets Police Patrol Vehicle treatment

Thu, 07 Nov 2013

That was fast. Mere days after showing a Police Concept based on the 2015 Tahoe at the SEMA Show, Chevrolet has announced that it will build a PPV model based on the SUV to do battle with the Ford Police Interceptor Utility (Explorer) and Dodge Durango Special Service.
You'll recall that the Tahoe has been police staple for several years, predating both the Explorer and Durango police variants, so the fact that the new model would spawn a police variant is hardly surprising. Like the civilian model, the 2015 PPV benefits from a more efficient 5.3-liter, direct-injection V8 that pumps out 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. It also features more high-strength steel, offering better crash protection, on top of optional safety items like lane departure warning, forward collision alert and a Safety Alert Seat.
The press release is rather light on police-specific items, aside from the auxiliary battery, which keeps the myriad of electronics in a modern police car running even when the engine isn't. Lightbars, 17-inch steel wheels on Goodyear Eagle RS-A tires and a push bar round out the mods for the Tahoe PPV. The cabin features a revised center console and room for laptop and other equipment mounts.

Recharge Wrap-up: Toyota FCV Rally Car To Compete, Barra bullish on Chevy Volt

Fri, Oct 31 2014

The Toyota FCV will compete in the last stage of the 2014 Japanese Rally Championship. The sport-tuned hydrogen-powered car will tackle the 177-mile Shinshiro Rally on November 1 and 2, emitting no greenhouse gases in the process. The rally course will help prove the safety of the vehicle before it goes on sale in Japan in the next several months. The Toyota FCV, rumored to be called "Mirai" in Japan, will begin sales there before April, according to Toyota, and in the summer in the US and Europe. Read more in the press release below. Carsharing is becoming more popular, and more visible, throughout the world, including the US. According to WardsAuto columnist John McElroy, 18 percent of US drivers have used some sort of carsharing service. Additionally, he says 60 percent of Americans are familiar with Zipcar and Uber. Mercedes' Harald Kroeger says promotions like free parking for carshares in Stuttgart are encouraging growth for Daimler's carsharing service, Car2go. Read more at WardsAuto. Ethanol is being help up by rail transport, according to ethanol producer Green Plains. More and more stations are carrying E15 blend gasoline, but grain producers have complained that crude oil is given higher priority by the rail lines shipping it, which rail companies deny. Union Pacific and BNSF Railway say they are stepping up service to make sure that ethanol can be shipped reliably to customers. Read more at Omaha World-Herald. General Motors "has placed a significant bet [on] the electrification of the automobile," says CEO Mary Barra. In a speech to the Detroit Economic Club this week, she spoke about the Chevrolet Volt, and its importance to GM's future. While Barra admits the Volt's success has been "not everything we wanted," it has provided experience, and shows that EVs have "an important role in the future of GM." The new Volt is more refined, stores more energy, has longer range, uses less fuel and is a big investment for Michigan. She announced that the new Volt's electric drive system will be built in Warren, and that all of its major components will be made in Michigan. "Silicon Valley doesn't have a corner on the market for innovation, creativity and drive," says Barra. "These qualities exist here – in this region – as well." 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra show all their sides in Detroit

Tue, 15 Jan 2013

There could hardly be more riding on the next-generation General Motors full-size pickup trucks, so the automaker has wisely made sure to have a selection of different models on hand at the Detroit Auto Show to show off. The 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and 2014 GMC Sierra were both officially introduced last month at a stand-alone reveal, and now they'll be on display for the public to see in various body configurations and trim levels.
The Silverado LTZ Crew Cab and Sierra SLE Extended Cab are aimed at providing more of a high-end pickup experience, while the Silverado LT Z71 Extended Cab and Sierra SLT Z71 Crew Cab should have off-road fans scouting out their favorite trails. The crew cab trucks won't go into production until sometime during the second quarter of this year - with other bodystyles coming later in the year - but we have plenty of live images from Detroit for you to enjoy.
