How about it VOLS fans (or Longhorns fans, too)? What better way to show up at Neyland (or Royal) next fall that in this Classic El Camino in your favorite colors? Of course, we don't want to exclude other classic car fans, either. In fact who wouldn't get the biggest kick out of daily driving, or just cruising in this great GM A body unique design? The good news is that for whatever reason you buy, you are going to get a CarFax DOCUMENTED 88,000 MILE, NO ACCIDENTS, RUST-FREE FL/GA, great running and smooth handling car that is TOTALLY USABLE and elicits THUMBS-UP at every light. Let me repeat part of that; RUST FREE, that means none, nada, clean! The bright orange repaint was done after a strip to bare metal (it only measures 6mil) and there is only two small patches of filler needed to smooth out minor dents. The bed is in incredible shape - not only NO RUST, but no sign of there ever having been even the usual scratches, dents, and surface corrosion you'd expect. Look closely at the pictures; you'll see! The bed topper is a GM original option from what we understand and it, too, is in great shape and is very easy for two people to remove and reinstall. The engine is the original 5.0 V8, though the power-robbing air pump has been disconnected and an Edelbrook aluminum manifold and a BRAND NEW HOLLEY 4-barrel have been installed. The HEI ignition was recently replaced, all the way down to the distributor shaft for easy starts and very smooth running. Tires are very recent MICHELIN'S and the brakes are up to par.

The cabin is very clean, smoke-free, and really quite comfortable with a split-bench seat and tilt column. Being a CONQUISTA, it features POWER WINDOWS and a REMOTE-CONTROL MIRROR (whoo-hoo!). The carpet is in need of replacement and the new one is included in the deal. But that's about all the new owner will need to do to make this car show-ready or cruise-worthy. AND you can haul pine straw from HOME DEPOT in it; try that in your 'Vette or custom A-body coupe.

In short, this is a NO EXCUSES, NO STORIES, straight-up car. It starts every time, hot or cold. Idles in traffic indefinitely without the temp gauge moving up. It will bury its 85mph speedometer easily and effortlessly cruise all day at that speed, the 4-speed Overdrive trans netting fuel economy certainly at least on par with a modern big SUV! The car does not shake or rattle, but it does ROLL! As you would expect from a babied 88k car, the suspension is tight (as tight as '80s cars get, that is) and the body sits properly on the unitized frame. Doors and tailgate shut with authority. The Chrome is excellent with most of the rubber trim having been replaced in the last few years. In order words - NOT A PROJECT CAR!

These cars are headed to the Great Crusher In The Sky

Fri, 24 Aug 2012

It happens every year. We bid adieu to some cars and trucks that will be missed, and say good riddance to others wondering how they stayed around so long. Whether they're being killed off for slow sales or due to a new product coming along to replace them, the list of vehicles being discontinued after 2012 is surprisingly long and diverse.
CNN Money has compiled a list of departing vehicles, to which we've added a few more of our own. In the slow sales column, cars like the Lexus HS 250h, Mercedes-Benz R-Class and the full Maybach lineup appear, while the Ford Escape Hybrid, Mazda CX-7 and Hyundai Veracruz are all having their gaps filled with more modern and more fuel-efficient alternatives. Obvious exceptions to the rule include models that still sell in decent numbers like the Jeep Liberty and the Chrysler Town & Country (which will eventually be replaced by a crossover-like vehicle).
Check out our gallery of discontinued cars above, then scroll down for more information.

GM veteran Bryan Nesbitt tapped to head Buick design

Sat, Jun 6 2015

General Motors styling veteran Bryan Nesbitt (pictured above) took over a new role on Monday as executive director of global Buick design and global architectures. Andrew Smith, who previously did that job and also coordinated the look for Cadillac, has remained in charge of the pen at Caddy with this shift. Nesbitt rose to prominence when he designed the Chrysler PT Cruiser, according to Automotive News. He joined GM in 2001 and has been there ever since in multiple high-level roles. In 2007, he was appointed vice president of design for North America and was later briefly general manager of Cadillac in 2009-2010. Nesbitt took over as the vice president of GM's international operations design in China in 2011. This shuffle also moves Ken Parkinson, currently styling boss for Chevrolet trucks, to China as design vice president there. In addition, John Cafaro becomes the person in charge of the look for Chevy globally, rather than previously splitting that role between cars and trucks with Parkinson. GM Global Design Leadership Changes – effective June 1, 2015. Bryan Nesbitt, Design Vice President, GM China will repatriate to North America and assume the position of Executive Director, Global Buick and Global Architectures. He will be located in Warren, MI. Bryan will be the design Champion for Buick in the US and China. Ken Parkinson, Executive Director, Global Chevrolet Trucks and Global Architecture will assume the position of Design Vice President, GM China. He will be based in Shanghai, China. Andrew Smith, Executive Director, Global Cadillac and Buick Design will assume the position of Executive Director, Global Cadillac. He will continue to be the design Champion for the Cadillac brand. In addition, he will continue to lead the Global Color & Trim team. He will be based in Warren, Michigan. John Cafaro, Executive Director, Global Chevrolet Cars will assume the position of Executive Director, Global Chevrolet. He will be the design Champion for Chevrolet. In addition, John will lead the exterior components and accessories team. He will continue to be based in Warren, MI. The roles and responsibilities of Helen Emsley, Mark Adams, Carlos Barba, Clay Dean, Michael Simcoe, and Teckla Rhoades remain the same. 2022 Genesis GV70, raging at VW ID.4 tech and thoughts on a new Lexus LFA | Autoblog Podcast #696

Fri, Sep 17 2021

In this episode of the Autoblog Podcast, Editor-in-Chief Greg Migliore is joined by Senior Editor James Riswick. This week, they talk about driving the Genesis GV70, VW ID.4 and VW Taos. They talk about ways Chevy could "fix" the Camaro. James ranked all the James Bond films based solely on their starring cars. Next, they reach in the mailbag and discuss the question, "Do you think Lexus will make a successor to the LFA and, if so, what do you guys think it would be like?" After ruminating on that query, they dip into the mailbag a second time to recommend a sporty crossover to a listener in this week's Spend My Money segment. Send us your questions for the Mailbag and Spend My Money at: Podcast@Autoblog.com.
