3 DAY AUCTION ONLY!!!!!!   This is relisted because the last winning bidder says they didn't realize how great the distance  would be to come to pick it up so that being said PLEASE make sure you can pick this up or have it shipped BEFORE bidding. This is a 1974 GMC SPRINT which we all know is the same as the Elcamino. It is a running driving project car. It can be made into a road worthy daily driver with just checking it out and fixing a few minor things or redo it and make an extra nice car. This car has been off the road quite awhile so it needs checking over before putting it on the road so that being said it will need to be hauled to your location for this purpose. The engine is a good running 350 with a turbo 350 trans which seems to shift fine. We ran it and tried the trans while it was sitting on stands in the garage only because there isnt any license or insurance on it. This car would be an easy fix for someone that wants an Elcamino or Sprint but doesnt want to invest a lot of money. With a little minor work you can make it a daily driver and work on updating it as you have the time and money. The body on this car is pretty good but it does have the usual rust underneath as most of them this body style did. It also has weak front floor pans and the rear ones will need work immediately. These can be repaired with a simple patch or replace them with new panels depending on how nice you want to make it. The pics show red primer on parts of the car, some of the places look to have been body worked and some of the places are just surface rust primed to keep the rust down. There are no holes showing other than a very narrow section in the bed floor, think theres a pic of it. Its not major, would be an easy fix. The doors dont seem to have any rust thru on the outside and the bottoms of them are pretty good with surface rust mostly. Fenders are showing a little primer on them but I think thats mostly surface rust also as they look pretty solid. Quarter panels have had some work done on them I think but theres no rust showing through yet. The tailgate has no rust thru, just surface rust and a few dings. The tires all hold air but are about worn out. The wheels are a nice set of rallys with 2 of them missing the trim ring. The front bumper is pretty good with some chrome peeling. The rear bumper is bent up a little but ok for a driver. The interior is driver quality. Dash pad is cracked but the door panels are both pretty decent, tops and bottoms. The seat is pretty good also. Carpet isnt much but thats a cheap fix. The car has a tilt wheel and it has a little play in it as do a lot of the GM vehicles. Its an easy fix by just tightening 3 bolts inside it. The car also has what seems to be all the air conditioning parts on it although its going to need charged. The frame is in great condition. This is a good project car guys as it wont take much to get it on the road. I have a very fair buy it now price on this so dont miss out. Remember this is a 3 DAY AUCTION ONLY!!!!!!  If you have any questions please ask before bidding. If you have less than 10 positive feedback you must contact me before bidding. Sorry about that but there seems to be more and more non paying bidders on here each day that just want to mess up your auction. Also the car is listed locally so I reserve the right to end the auction only. A lot of my auctions do end early so if you want the car dont wait around and maybe miss out. Also remember when the reserve is met the buy it now goes away. I require a nonrefundable $500 deposit at auctions end and the balance in full within 3 days. Delivery is possible depending on your location. I have a friend going to Knoxville TN next weekend so if your in that area and need it delivered he can do it for a good price. Checkout my feedback guys as its well over 500 and all positive so rest assure your dealing with an honest ebayer. You dont get great feedback like that if you lie and cheat people, we tell it like it is. Also the car can sit here a while you arrange shipping as long as its paid for according to the auction terms. Thanks for reading my novel and good luck should you decide to bid on this gret 1974 GMC Sprint.

Forgot to put in the listing that the windshield has a crack on the passenger side. These windshields are in the salvage yards for $50. Just wanted to mention this so theres no question later. Thanks

On Apr-29-13 at 16:09:52 PDT, seller added the following information:

I thought I had covered everything in the listing but with several questions about a few things let me try again. The car has been off the road awhile and its going to need checked out real good all over before putting it on the road. The brakes work but are very weak. The engine starts right up and sounds good although sometimes the carb wants to try and flood but not everytime. It does run!!!!! As far as the body, it has had rust repair in some of the places that the primer is showing but a lot of it is just surface rust. The rear floors are real bad and the fronts are very soft. I hope this clears up any questions you had about the elcamino. If not please let me know.

How Chevy Silverado, GMC Sierra will take on the Ford F-150 profit machine

Fri, Aug 10 2018

FORT WAYNE, Ind. — When General Motors engineers were developing the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickup trucks, some of them joined public tours of Ford's Dearborn, Mich., factory to watch aluminum-bodied F-Series trucks go down the assembly line. The redesign of the Ford F-Series trucks, launched in 2014, set a new standard for fuel economy and lightweight vehicle construction. But armed with stopwatches and trained eyes, the GM engineers believed they saw problems. "They had a real hard time getting those doors to fit," Tim Herrick, the executive chief engineer for GM truck programs, told Reuters. His team did more intelligence gathering. They bought and tore apart Ford F-Series doors sold as repair parts. Their conclusion: GM could cut weight in its trucks for a lower cost using doors made of a combination of aluminum and high-strength steel that could be thinner than standard steel, shaving off kilograms in the process. These pounds-and-pennies decisions will have major implications in the highest-stakes game going in Detroit: dominance in the world's most profitable vehicle market, the gasoline-fueled large pickup segment. What's more, GM is banking on strong sales of overhauled 2019 Silverados and GMC Sierras to fund its push into automated and electric vehicles — a business many investors see as the auto industry's long-term future. The risks are high given the hits automakers have taken from U.S. President Donald Trump's trade policies. Rising aluminum prices spurred by Trump's tariffs are driving up costs on the Ford's F-Series, while rising steel and aluminum prices likewise drag on GM results. GM also has a significant risk should the United States, Mexico and Canada fail to agree on a new NAFTA trade deal, given GM trucks built at its Silao, Mexico, factory could face a 25 percent tariff if NAFTA collapses. Major profit per truck Interviews with GM executives and a tour at its factory here in northwest Indiana provide a detailed look inside GM's plan for the most important vehicles in its global lineup. These big pickups are everything Tesla's Model 3 or Chevy's Bolt electric car is not. The mostly steel body is bolted to the truck's steel frame, rather than the one-piece body and frame electric vehicles. The majority of trucks will have a V-8 gasoline engine powering the rear wheels — like the classic GM cars of the 1950s. Some Silverados will have new four-cylinder engines, but there is no electric or hybrid offering as of now.

GMC Envoy could be returning as GM files for 'Envoy' trademark

Thu, Dec 27 2018

The GMC Envoy could be on its way back, if a recent GM trademark filing is any indication of the future. To be exact, GM's trademark filing is for the name "Envoy," and is applicable to "motor vehicles, namely, sport utility vehicles, engines therefor and structural parts thereof." A victim of the recession and high gas prices, the original Envoy – related to the Blazer, and more recently the TrailBlazer and similar GM SUVs – was discontinued after the 2009 model year. In today's SUV-happy market of low gas prices, unearthing the somewhat familiar Envoy name makes a certain amount of sense. As soon as gas prices start trending in the other direction, we'll all be saying the opposite, though. What this SUV will take shape as is the big question now. With the Chevrolet Blazer well and truly on its way, there's every reason for a GMC version of Chevy's stylish new crossover sporting the Envoy name. Another, less likely, possibility is a Traverse-sized vehicle to slot between the shorter Acadia (10 inches shorter than the Chevy Traverse) and the body-on-frame Yukon. GM could come out of left field and make the Envoy a Buick too. It fits the bill with the "En" beginning, and Buick undoubtedly has crossovers in the works. We think that's even more unlikely, but it's important to remember that we're still in the speculation phase. Soon we'll drive Chevy's new Blazer, and perhaps have more news then. Check in next week for that. Related video:

Autoblog's Editors' Picks: Our complete list of the best new vehicles

Mon, May 13 2024

It's not easy to earn an “EditorsÂ’ Picks” at Autoblog as part of the rating and review process that every new vehicle goes through. Our editors have been at it a long time, which means weÂ’ve driven and reviewed virtually every new car you can go buy on the dealer lot. There are disagreements, of course, and all vehicles have their strengths and weaknesses, but this list features what we think are the best new vehicles chosen by Autoblog editors. We started this formal review process back in 2018, so there's quite of few of them now. So what does it mean to be an EditorsÂ’ Pick? In short, it means itÂ’s a car that we can highly recommend purchasing. There may be one, multiple, or even zero vehicles in any given segment that we give the green light to. What really matters is that itÂ’s a vehicle that weÂ’d tell a friend or family member to go buy if theyÂ’re considering it, because itÂ’s a very good car. The best way to use this list is is with the navigation links below. Click on a segment, and you'll quickly arrive at the top rated pickup truck or SUV, for example. Use the back button to return to these links and search in another segment, like sedans. If youÂ’ve been keeping up with our monthly series of the latest vehicles to earn EditorsÂ’ Pick status, youÂ’re likely going to be familiar with this list already. If not, welcome to the complete list that weÂ’ll be keeping updated as vehicles enter (and others perhaps exit) the good graces of our editorial team. We rate a new car — giving it a numerical score out of 10 — every time thereÂ’s a significant refresh or if it happens to be an all-new model. Any given vehicle may be impressive on a first drive, but we wait until itÂ’s in the hands of our editors to put it through the same type of testing as every other vehicle that rolls through our test fleet before giving it the EditorsÂ’ Pick badge. This ensures consistency and allows more voices to be heard on each individual model. And just so you donÂ’t think weÂ’ve skipped trims or variants of a model, we hand out the EditorsÂ’ Pick based on the overarching model to keep things consistent. So, when you read that the 3 Series is an EditorsÂ’ Pick, yes, that includes the 330i to the M3 and all the variants in between. If thereÂ’s a particular version of that car we vehemently disagree with, we make sure to call that out.
