Up for bids is a very nice 1978 GMC Caballero which we all know is the same thing as the Chevrolet Elcamino. This is a GMC Caballero. This year is pretty rare as I've been told only a little over 3000 were built for 1978. If youre looking for a nice solid car to use as a daily driver or want to make a show car then this is the one for you. This Caballero is priced to sell guys so dont miss out. As you can see by a couple of the pics the build sheet comes with the car which is rare for a car this age. Not sure everything is still there thats on the list but it gives you an idea what options were chosen for the build.  The car has been off the road a little while but it starts, stops, shifts and drives just fine. I have only put a very few miles on it as its not licensed and insured so driving it a long distance is up to you. The car starts right up, just hit the gas a couple times and the choke sets correctly and it fires right up. The choke kicks off after it warms up just as it should. I see no reason why you couldnt but again to be absolutely safe it should be checked over, thats just my thought. If transport is necessary I may can help with that also. The car has the small block engine with the automatic trans. The engine runs great with no problems that im aware of and the trans shifts as it should. The brakes feel good and it drives nice for a 1978 model. I feel this is one of the nicest 78 Caballeros you will find for the money. The car is a factory air car but someone removed some of the parts for it. I have the compressor and some of the brackets that will come with the car. Underneath the hood is pretty much as it came from the factory although im not sure if its the original engine or not. The heater and AC box is all there and intact. The body on this GMC Caballero is very solid. The bed is solid and the frame has no rust, completely solid, no worries there. The hood has been recently painted but it didnt match very well. The front fenders have no holes but just a very little minor surface rust on them, no rust through. Both doors have no rust and the inner lower lip of them have whats appears to be a skim coat of filler on them to fill some pitted areas, again, very minor. Both doors have NO rust through at all. The quarters or bed sides are also very solid with no rust except for maybe a little surface rust in a small spot or two, very nice. The tailgate has no rust through at all and just a place or two of maybe a little surface rust if any at all but it does need the cables that hold it when let down. The lower half of the body, the tan part, has been painted fairly recent to just make it look better as the years had taken its toll on it and faded it out quite a bit. The body has a few dings and a couple very small dents on it from normal wear and tear of a car this old. The drivers front fender has a small imperfection as does the drivers door where the molding fits on it, nothing major, just want to be honest about it all. The brown paint on the car is showing its age bit still shines pretty nice. You can see its getting pretty thin in spots. Overall this is a sharp vehicle and no major rust issues. The floor pans are good, looks like a very small spot or two has been repaired but they are solid and need no work. The bumpers are fair, not beat up but are worn, may polish out some but are driver quality as is. All the trim is on the car and most of it is in really good condition, Some of it may need some polishing but most of it shines great. There are two tie downs mounted on each side of the bed, but they could be easily removed and holes filled with little paint work would never be noticed. Now guys the interior will put you over the top if youre considering buying this car. A lot of money has been recently spent on the interior and although its not perfect it sure is nice, very nice. Look at the pics really close and you will see lots of new parts etc on the interior. Some of the interior pieces have started to deteriorate from age but it still looks super nice and clean. Some but not all of the new interior include, new carpet, new headliner, new dash cover, door panels redone, steering column redone, gauge bezels refinished etc. The interior looks close to new. The color really makes all the interior super sharp. The seat was in pretty ragged condition but its had a very nice cover put on it. It has a tilt steering colums with the cruise control on it but the cruise has been partailly removed from the engine area. I think most of the gauges work, gas, charging, and I tink the temp gauge does also. The oil gauge is all the way over, not sure whats going on with it but the oil pressure is fine, no worries. Guys I cant say enough about the interior of this car, its just another big plus on buying this car, money you dont have to spend. You know the car is nice all around or the interior wouldnt have gotten this much attention. Some other things to mention, the exhaust is pretty good but needs a short piece of tailpipe to make it sound even better than it does, the way its set up iy only takes a short piece of tailpipe about 8 inches long to complete the system The exhaust isnt new but think its ok. The wheels are driver quality with some surface rust starting on them, they still look good for a daily driver, The tires are about have I think and seem to be fine. Brakes seem to be good also. All the glass in the Caballero is is good also. Guys thats about all I know to say about this GMC Caballero. If you have questions please ask, assume nothing. If you want a nice, solid sharp daily driver or a solid car to make a show car out of this is the one for you. Its a very good start for anyone looking for a vehicle like this and its priced right. Some people put big high prices on there vehicles but im pricing this one more than fair, its priced to move. Dont forget about the super sharp interior, that will save you plenty of money any way you decide to go with it. Checkout my feedback guys as its well over 600 and all positive. You dont get great feedback like that if you lie and cheat people, I tell it like it is. Thanks for reading my novel and good luck should you decide to bid on this nice 1978 GMC Caballero. If you have less than 10 positive feedback I ask that you email me before bidding to assure me you will complete the transaction should you be the winning bidder.  This Caballero comes with a clean and clear VA title.

Next-gen GM SUVs caught wearing new boxy bodies [w/video]

Wed, 15 May 2013

We recently drove the brand-new 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and found it to be vastly improved compared to the outgoing model. And now that The General's pickup trucks have been squared away, it's time to focus our attention onto their passenger-friendly companions, the Chevrolet Tahoe and GMC Yukon (above).
Our spy photographers have passed along a huge smattering of photos (and a video), showing the new SUVs out testing. Both the short- and long-wheelbase models were spied, and while the overall shape of the vehicles hasn't changed all that much, we expect the updates to be substantial. In addition to new powertrain options, like GM's new small-block V8, we expect the interiors of both SUVs to get massive makeovers, providing better materials throughout their cabins and quieter, more refined environments. We even hear that some trick new suspension developments may be in store for upper-end models.
Visually, these spy shots allow us to see a couple of new details on the SUVs' front and rear fascias, including LED running lamps on the Yukon and some interesting LED taillamp treatments. Of course, the obvious third party missing from this set of photos is the Cadillac Escalade, but as we reported earlier, GM is working to further differentiate the 'Slade from the rest of the fullsize SUV lineup, and is working to make the new model "much less ostentatious."

Next Chevy Volt will be 2016 model and ride on new chassis

Fri, Mar 7 2014

What do we know about the 2016 Chevy Volt? Well, for now, all we can do is try to put the puzzle together without the box. Thankfully, a new batch of pieces has arrived from a new report in Edmunds, which says that the 2016 model year will introduce the second generation of a car that hasn't been dramatically updated since it went on sale in 2010. The new Volt is getting an "evolutionary styling change" and will ride on a new front-drive platform that has been developed by General Motors. GM's Kevin Kelly told AutoblogGreen that he has "no comment on future products," but he did acknowledge that Chevrolet is working on a second-generation Volt, "but I can't say anything about timing." Everybody already knew that a next-gen Volt is coming, so that's not a surprise. What we don't know is any real concrete information on the car itself. The few tidbits of information we do have help define the outlines of the next version of Chevy's halo car, but they're not confirmed yet. For the record, they range from the eye-raising (a $10,000 price drop) to the logical (20 percent more electric range). We can't see the whole picture yet, but the pieces do point to the 2016 Volt, which would be released next year sometime, being a much bigger deal than the last update, when the Volt's range was increased by three electric miles thanks to a battery capacity increase of 16 kWh to 16.5.

Chevy to show redesigned Captiva in Geneva, will it come to US rental lots?

Wed, 27 Feb 2013

Unless you're renting a car or driving through Orlando, Florida (the rental car capital of the US), you'll probably never see a Chevrolet Captiva - the rebadged, fleet-only version of the old Saturn Vue - on our roads, but this crossover is popular in many other parts of the world. As such, Chevrolet announced that the Captiva will be getting an update for 2013, which will be unveiled next week at the Geneva Motor Show.
Coming off a pretty extensive refresh in 2011, the 2013 model year will bring even more changes to the Captiva like LED taillights, new 18-inch wheels and revised fascias with a new grille and fog lights up front and inset chrome exhaust outlets at the rear. New interior features include heated rear seats, dual-zone climate control as well as available options on some of the upper trim levels such as leather seating and keyless entry and start. We have yet to hear back from Chevrolet as to whether or not the updated Captiva will be making its way to a rental lot near you, as the model is only available in the US to fleet buyers.
Alongside the updated Captiva, Chevy is also showing off its new Trax in Europe, where the subcompact crossover will go on sale this spring. GM's press release for these two Geneva-bound models is posted below.
