Here is a retired racer “barn find” 72 El Camino. Much of its life, about 25 years, it was used as a 1/4 mile drag car so it escaped most of the ravages of winter driving. It has been barn-stored for a number of years since last on the drag strip, as the old owner lost interest. It has a factory Chevelle/El Camino cowl induction hood, a rare and pricey item these days. Body and trim all complete. This is a great parts car for your Chevelle or El Camino restoration, or, a great starting point to build a nice 72 El Camino as a cruiser or racer. The 68 through 72 El Camino is the most popular of all eras…..here is your entry into ownership at a reasonable price. -title is CLEAR and IN-HAND. -Blue with black interior, GM paint code #26 for 1972, paint is presentable and complete. -odometer shows 76,000 miles, likely actual but not prove-able -car does NOT have an engine or transmission, was originally 4 speed -car does NOT have seats. -wheels/tires in photo NOT included BUT car will be sold with generic wheels and tires installed to make it moveable -under hood INCLUDES steering, brake master cylinder, wiring harness, radiator and core support and heater/blower -glass is complete, 2 small stone chips in windshield -chrome and trim all present and driver-quality, light surface rust on bumper, see photos. -Body and frame and floorboards solid, floor bed seam is rotted like most old El Caminos. Tailgate nice, quarters and doors solid, small surface rust blisters here and there, nothing “rotten,” see photos. -newer springs front and rear, powder-coated -decent interior door panels and dash, NO headliner -storage bins shown in bed INCLUDED, containing a bunch of extra parts including but not limited to upper and lower A arms, valve covers, AC compressor, extra heater core, distributor, grill brackets, core support and bumper brackets, headlight buckets, wiper motor, master cylinder, and assorted small parts. -Car is located in suburban Akron Ohio and is available for inspection during the run of the auction. -Car is sold as-is, where-is, no warranty, no returns or refunds. Looking back at the Citation IV concept that likely shaped the GM EV1
Wed, Aug 20 2014Those who forget history are condemned to repeat it. We're not sure how that applies to the GM EV1, but we'd still like to share something from Autoline Daily, an online automotive new show with our friend John McElroy. He's been covering the business for decades now and recently found something interesting: pictures of the 1984 Chevrolet Citation IV concept, seen above. Displayed half a decade before the first electric concept that would become the EV1 (inset), McElroy says it's now clear that the elegant, aerodynamic EV1 took a lot of styling cues from the Citation IV, which was developed in part thanks to GM's new-at-the-time Aerodynamics Laboratory. We agree with him that the spats over the rear wheels, the flush glass, and the covered headlights all bear a certain kind of similarity between the two cars. That the colors almost match is a nice coincidence. The Impact (the concept version of the EV1) looked "frumpier," McElroy says, because it wasn't as long as the Citation. You can read a lot more about the Citation IV here and check out McElroy's thoughts in the video below. Find the Citation starting at around 3:45. This content is hosted by a third party. GM sweetens military discount for Buick, Chevy and GMC
Sun, 06 Oct 2013American servicemen and women interested in a new vehicle from Chevrolet, Buick or GMC now have a bit more incentive to head down to their local dealer, as General Motors has announced plans to improve its military discount program.
The new GM Military Discount Program offers eligible consumers a new Chevy, Buick or GMC at invoice pricing, which in some cases can take very large chunks out of a car's retail price. When factored in with other incentives, most of which are available with the Military Discount, the bargains are thick on the ground for members of the US armed forces.
GM's Retail Sales and Marketing Support general manager, Chuck Thomson, said, "GM has long supported the military and military families, and we hope this simplified and enhanced discount will show our appreciation for their service and help make it easier for them to own one of our great new vehicles." The program is open to all active duty and reserve members in the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, National Guard and Coast Guard, as well as veterans that have been out of the service for less than a year. Military retirees and their spouses are also eligible for the discount.
Recharge Wrap-up: Tesla P85D upgrades coming soon, lease a Chevy Volt for $149 a month
Wed, Dec 31 2014CarCharging has raised $6 million from shareholders and has restructured to save cash. The EV charging company plans to expand further in 2015 - with an eye toward achieving profitability - in part by investing in technology and "unlocking the value of our significant equipment inventory," says CarCharging CEO Michael D. Farkas. The group expects to reduce administrative costs by 40 percent, and has hired an interim Chief Financial Officer to help carry out its plans for growth. CarCharging raised the cash through offering convertible preferred stock to its shareholders, whom Farkas thanked "for their passion and patience." Read more in the press release below. Rydell Chevrolet in Los Angeles is offering Chevrolet Volt leases for $149 per month. In a video ad, Rydell offers the Volt for $169 a month with $3,390 due at signing, but another ad shows the offer at $149 a month with $3,550 down or $248 per month with $0 down. Rydell Chevrolet will ship the car anywhere in the lower 48 states. It also appears they offer cupcakes. See Rydell's video below, or read more at Inside EVs. Tesla will upgrade the Model S P85D with higher performance and top speed. The free update, which is due "in the next few months" according to a statement from Tesla, will raise the electronically limited top speed from 130 to 155 miles per hour. "Additionally, an over-the-air firmware upgrade to the power electronics will improve P85D performance at high speed above what anyone outside Tesla has experienced to date," Tesla says. The update will be available for the lifetime of the car, which includes subsequent owners. Read more at Green Car Reports.
