San Francisco, California, United States
What makes this car valuable: THE CORVETTE BIBLE!!! This publication lists the options and the number of vehicles that were purchased with them for all corvettes. 1) EXTREMELY RARE: RADIO DELETE OPTION. ONLY .2% of the vettes sold in 1984 had this option!!! 2) It has the CLOTH SPORTS SEATS only 7.8% of the vettes sold in 1984 had this option. They retailed from Chevy in 1984 for $625 and the base seat which is leather only retailed for $400. 3) 4 Speed Manual Transmission only 12.5% of the vettes sold in 1984 had this option. 4) Removable Transparent Roof Panel only 30% of the vettes sold in 1984 had this option. 5) It still has the original factory paint, unlike many cars being sold on ebay that have been repainted. Just installed new front rotors and brake pads for both front and rear! Just changed oil, filter, topped all fluids including transmission and overdrive! did smog check, passed without any issue or adjustment, and has tags good to April 16, 2014 The car looks and runs great. It has always been garaged. The interior and body are in very good condition. The car has a clean title and has never been in any accidents. Car passed the smog test last November without any adjustments or repairs. The Doug Nash 4+3 overdrive was repaired about 1500 miles ago. (All manual 84 vettes came with this overdrive and they all go out at around 40K to 45K). I did not know that when I bought the car so if you are considering one it better have the repair already, like my car, or you will have to get it done! I have the receipts for the work, it was done in 2011 by Pete's Gear Shop [The best gear and transmission guy in the bay area. All the corvette shops and dealers send their more difficult jobs to him.] Pete also re-aligned the front and rear of the car so it drives perfect. |

Camaro-based Trans Am SE Bandit Edition borrows Burt Reynolds
Tue, Mar 29 2016For some reason, modifying modern Chevrolet Camaros into the lurching, reincarnated shells of the Pontiac brand is still a thing. If you're the perverse sort that likes this kind of thing, you should check out the latest product from the Trans Am Depot, which comes complete with an endorsement from the star of Smokey and the Bandit, Burt Reynolds. Yes, the new Trans Am SE Bandit Edition has been signed and endorsed by the man himself, but what's important here is not the signature on the dash, it's the bits of Camaro that have been modified. Aesthetically, that means a Bandit-and-Frog-approved set of T-tops, a front-opening hood with a very large, prominent shaker scoop, an equally large and prominent screaming chicken, and Trans Am-inspired front and rear fascias. And naturally, Burt Reynolds' signature adorns the dash. There are plenty of reminders in the cabin about this car's Hollywood inspiration, too. Bandit decals can be found on the front headrests and center console lid, there are chicken wings on the Camaro-spec plastic door inserts, and the black-and-tan color scheme matches nicely with the exterior look. And power? Well, Sheriff Buford T. Justice would have a lot more trouble keeping up with this Trans Am than he did with the original. The 7.4-liter LSX V8 has been paired with a 2.9-liter supercharger which is good for 840 horsepower. It's fast and loud, and even if you can't get behind the look (we can't), at least this Camaro-in-Trans Am's clothing can impress with its performance. The Bandit Edition is limited to just 77 units with prices starting around $115,000. You can check out the official video from Trans Am Depot, which comes with a decent helping of Burt Reynolds, up top. Related Video:
Next Corvette ZR1 to get 700 horsepower?
Tue, 19 Feb 2013Word has it General Motors may offer as much as 700 horsepower in the C7 Corvette ZR1. Motor Trend reports the next Corvette Z06 will continue to rely on its naturally aspirated 7.0-liter V8 engine for thrust, but the lump will deliver substantially more power. How much more? MT says the engine could deliver up to 600 ponies. That's a jump of 95 horsepower over the current Z06, though no figures have been finalized as of yet. Right now, GM is reportedly waiting to see what sort of grunt it can glean from the next ZR1.
The automaker has already made it clear it will resurrect the LT5 name for the new supercharged V8, and if GM is already pulling 600 from the Z06, the big dog ZR1 would theoretically offer 700 horsepower. Either way, the range-topping Corvette will be suitably insulated from its less potent siblings. Stay tuned. We aren't likely to see the Z06 for at least a year, with the ZR1 trailing along at some point there after.
Very first Chevy Camaro found and restored
Thu, Feb 26 2015Restoring an important classic car can lead people down rabbit hole upon rabbit hole of discovered history in a process that's essentially automotive genealogy. Take the recent rejuvenation of the very first Chevrolet Camaro as an example. The owners started with a strong hunch that the vehicle might be something special and spent years researching to figure it all out before the mechanical work even began. Fisher Body kicked off work on the first Camaro on May 17, 1966, and it was delivered to General Motors just a few days later for final assembly. While the model has earned a place as an American performance icon since then, the original was built more to develop the production process and boasted just a 230-cubic-inch (3.8-liter) inline six and 3-speed transmission. After spending its first few months appearing in promotions, a Chevy dealer in Oklahoma got the gold car in December of '66. It was touted on the sales floor there for years, and the first private owner didn't come until 1969. This short documentary goes into astonishingly comprehensive detail about every bit of the first Camaro's history. If you just want to hear the story of the latest owners and their work to get the vehicle restored since 2010, skip about 11 minutes into the video. Or, of course, you could just enjoy the whole thing. News Source: PilotCarRegistry via YouTube, Camaro NewsTip: Chris P.
