Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Roadster & Hardtop on 2040-cars
Helenville, Wisconsin, United States
1963 Corvette Stingray Convertible with soft and hardtop. This is the first time this car has been offered to the public. The last time this vehicle was licensed was in 1993 in Florida. Watch the video below of engine running and scroll down to see 250 photos documenting the vehicle condition. Please note that I am not a car dealer. This vehicle is from my private collection. I do not claim to be a Corvette expert. I obtained this car that came out of an estate located in Miami Beach, FL. The undercarriage is in excellent condition. Zero accidents nor ever any frame damage. Odometer reads 74,078 miles. Appears to have a 327/340HP motor in it (casting number 3783870). I cannot locate serial numbers on the front of the block, unless they are located somewhere I am not aware of. The car has a four speed Muncie transmission with a tight close ratio shifter (I did not try to locate any numbers on the trans). The original color appears to be red from the code on the body plate although I cannot locate any red paint anywhere on the car. The car runs and shifts excellent. The clock and Am/FM radio works. I have a copy of the original title showing the vehicle was transferred to the last owner in 1987. The plates on the rear shows vehicle registration expiration in 1993. Car runs excellent and will be an excellent driver with some minor repairs. I do not have time as I have too many projects. Overall this is a very nice original car that is extremely clean for being 52 years old. Try and find another in this condition for the price. Nice solid investment as Corvette values continue to rise. Overall the cars needs minor repairs to be a very nice driver:1) Needs brake lines (complete brake line kit from "Inline Tube" goes with the car). I have no time to install. Car will need to be towed.2) Spare tire is missing. The jack and wrench are intact.3) Soft top and rear plastic window needs cleaning4) Drivers seat has a minor tear on seam5) The paint is in driver quality with scratches and paint bubbling. The body is excellent overall. I cannot locate any prior accident repairs.6) Carpet is a faded, but in good driver condition7) The back glass in the hardtop has a crack in it8) The passenger door glass needs to be re installed in the track. Window goes up but tilts on the way down9) Left headlight does not go up with switch, appears to need grease New parts:1) Master cylinder installed2) Complete "Inline Tube" complete brake line kit comes with the vehicle3) Brand new tires are on the car with zero miles on them. The have been balanced with new stems4) Recent engine tune up completed by a GM certified mechanic5) New rubber fuel lines replaced, new fuel filter and gas tank flushed with fresh fuel6) New battery installed

What car should James Robertson buy to drive his famous 21-mile commute?
Thu, Feb 5 2015The Internet has been abuzz this week with the story of Detroit resident James Robertson, the 56-year-old factory worker who has walked some 21 miles to work for the last 10 years. The Detroit Free Press brought Robertson's story to the fore, helping an online fundraising campaign to generate more than $275,000 (as of this writing). The original goal was just $5,000, or about enough to replace the used Honda that died on Robertson back in 2005, and left him walking. So, newly flush with funds, what's the perfect car for Robertson to buy? Let's look at the specifics of his situation, and try to pick out the best options. Here's what we know: Robertson's commute is (famously) 21 miles; he lives in downtown Detroit (for now) and seems pretty humble, so something very flashy is probably out; former Honda aside, his ties to the city (and statements about being a Ford fan) seem to indicate a Detroit Three company product is best; he's a single guy with a girlfriend; he's got to deal with Michigan weather, and the sometimes fickle snow removal processes in The D. Here are some choices: Ford F-150 Robertson is on record as being a Taurus fan, and after a decade of walking I've no doubt that the big sedan would offer a cozy respite. Still, as a car guy and a student of the industry, I'd have a hard time recommending a sedan so clearly in need of replacement. Especially when The Blue Oval has such great stuff within the rest of its roster. The 2015 F-150 seems almost perfect for Robertson. Opting for either of the new EcoBoost V6 engines should help keep fuel bills in reasonable check, while healthy ride height and four-wheel drive will get him to work on time even during the snowiest of snow days. Better still, with a fat options sheet and car-like ride quality, Robertson can have just about every amenity he might want, in a package that won't disrespect his blue-collar roots. Chevrolet Colorado You guys saw this one coming, right? The smaller footprint of the midsize Chevy pickup, relative to some of the other options here, should be an advantage for urban parking and driving. And again, 4x4 is an option for the nasty weather, the running costs should stay pretty low and there aren't many tech/luxury features that can't be had in-cabin. I'd go ahead and splash out on the Crew Cab bodystyle, too, just in case Robertson feels like starting a carpool.
U.S. new-vehicle sales in 2018 rise slightly to 17.27 million [UPDATE]
Thu, Jan 3 2019DETROIT — Sales of new vehicles in the U.S. rose slightly in 2018, defying predictions and highlighting a strong economy. Automakers reported an increase of 0.3 percent over a year ago to 17.27 million vehicles. The increase came despite rising interest rates, a volatile stock market, and rising car and truck prices that pushed some buyers out of the new-vehicle market. Industry analysts and automakers said strong economic fundamentals pushed up sales and should keep them near historic highs in 2019. "Economic conditions in the U.S. are favorable and should continue to be supportive of vehicle sales at or around their current run rate," Ford Chief Economist Emily Kolinski Morris said after the company and other automakers announced their sales numbers Thursday. That auto sales remain near the 2016 record of 17.55 million is a testimonial to the strength of the economy, said Mark Zandi, chief economist at Moody's Analytics. The job market, he said, has created new employment, and wage growth has accelerated. "That's fundamental to selling anything," he said. "If there are lots of jobs and people are getting bigger paychecks, they will buy more." The unemployment rate is 3.7 percent, a 49-year low. The economy is thought to have grown close to 3 percent last year, its best performance in more than a decade. Consumers, the main driver of the economy, are spending freely. The Federal Reserve raised its key interest rate four times in 2018 but is only expected to raise it twice this year. Auto sales also were helped by low gasoline prices and rising home values, Zandi said. It all means that people are likely to keep buying new vehicles this year even as they grow more expensive. The Edmunds.com auto-pricing site estimates that the average new vehicle price hit a record $35,957 in December, about 2 percent higher than the previous year. It will be harder for automakers to keep the sales pace above 17 million because they have been enticing buyers for several years now with low-interest financing and other incentives, Zandi said. He predicts more deals in the coming year as job growth slows and credit tightens for higher-risk buyers. Edmunds, which provides content, including automotive tips and reviews, for distribution by The Associated Press, predicts that sales will drop this year to 16.9 million.
Suzuki recalls 2 million cars globally
Wed, Apr 22 2015Suzuki is recalling two million vehicles across the globe, including a number of Chevrolet Cruze sedans that it builds for General Motors, because the ignition switches may begin to smoke. None of the Cruzes being recalled were sold in the US, though. This recall is limited to the Japanese, European and Australian markets. In Suzuki's home market, 1,873,000 vehicles are being recalled, including the Cruze and a number kei cars built for Mazda (the Carol and AZ-Wagon), as well as the automaker's own Alto, Wagon R and Swift. Affected vehicles were built between 1998 and 2009. The remaining 133,000 vehicles include Cruzes and other Suzuki products sold in Europe and Australia. There have been no reports of injuries or accidents due to the 67 reported incidents, all of which come from the Japanese market, a Suzuki spokesperson told Automotive News. Related Video:
