Chevrolet Corvette 2-door Coupe on 2040-cars
Maynard, Massachusetts, United States
You're looking at a nice, Black on Black C5 Corvette Coupe (less normal wear and tear). This car runs and drives great despite its mileage. The engine is very strong with no known issues. Three of the four tires are newer (according to previous owner), chrome rims with red Z06 break calipers. Overall, this is a real sharp Corvette with tons of eye appeal. The reason I'm choosing to sell this car is because I'm thinking about going back to a C3. History: I purchased this vehicle in May of 2011 from a neighbor and replaced the driver side tie rod along with all brand new brake pads and rotors (only 2000 miles on them). Also recently purchased (May '13) BRAND NEW Z06 Red brake calipers, BRAND NEW car battery and BRAND NEW Z06 floor mats for both driver and passenger side. This is a no-hit Corvette with a clean Car Fax. Exterior: This Corvette has a ton of eye appeal, with a removable hard top and black original paint, tinted windows with normal wear and tear (minor scratches, pings) and looks very good for a 16 year old car. I would rate the appearance a strong seven to eight. Interior: Black leather seats in good condition, Bose CD stereo sound system. All interior lights, gauges and electronics appear to be in good operable condition with the exception (at times) of the driver side electronic mirror which seems to stick. Automatic transmission. Carpet throughout is really very good, front and back. Overall, the interior is in great shape and makes this vehicle even more appealing. There is a slight seam separation on the driver seat left shoulder side (can be seen in single seat pic). I would still rate the overall interior appearance as an eight. Please note: Original break calipers (all four) and original floor mats will accompany the sale of this car along with two sets of keys, car cover and auto manual. **I WOULD BE WILLING TO ENTERTAIN TRADE OFFERS FOR A 1968 or 1969 4-Speed C3 Corvette Convertible or Corvette Coupe ONLY** **AS IS - NO WARRANTY -- BUYER RESPONSIBLE FOR SHIPPING** This vehicle is being sold as is, there is no warranty, express written or implied. Chevrolet Malibu gets across-the-board price cuts, hopes to dig out of slump
Mon, 11 Feb 2013To say that things aren't going well for the newly redesigned 2013 Chevrolet Malibu is a pretty sizable understatement. Reports have been swirling about the Malibu getting an emergency design refresh, less than a year after its introduction, as well as having its production at the Fairfax Assembly Plant halted twice already this year for excessive inventory. Now, Motor Trend is reporting that the midsize sedan will be receiving price drops across the board ranging from $300 on a number of models up to $770 on the 1LT trim; offsetting some of MSRP drop, though, the destination charge has increased from $760 to $810.
Without destination, the entry-level Malibu LS now starts at $21,995, which is still about $300 more than a Honda Accord and about $300 less than the segment's top-selling Toyota Camry. This new pricing also drops the price of the Eco, 2LT and 3LT trims by $300. The LTZ trim has dropped by $415, meaning that the Malibu's top dog now starts at just under $30,000, excluding destination.
Here are the new starting prices for all eight of the Malibu trim levels compared to the previous prices for the 2013 model year (including destination):
First 2015 Chevy Corvette Z06 engine blows up at just 891 miles
Thu, Jan 1 2015You've waited and watched and waited some more for the arrival of your 650-horsepower, $78,000 Chevrolet Corvette Z06. Finally, that joyous day arrives and you eagerly, but gingerly, begin to break-in the 6.2-liter supercharged V8 monster under your hood. Then 900-odd miles after delivery, your excitement grinds, quite literally, to a halt. That's what the owner of one 2015 Z06 claimed happened to him when a simple break-in drive resulted in a lunched engine. The owner, known as Lawdogg149 on Corvette Forum, says he was out breaking-in his car ahead of a January track event when it happened. "While making a pull from 35 miles per hour, I accelerated and shifted short of redline, and boom - the car began knocking. I pulled over and popped the hood. I could hear a loud knock coming from the No. 6 cylinder area along with a serious, grinding, metal-on-metal sound coming from the supercharger area," Lawdogg wrote. A subsequent trip to the dealer confirmed his concerns, with the service facility telling Lawdogg that the No. 6 valvetrain had failed. The dealer couldn't research the issue further, though, as General Motors requested the engine be returned for a more thorough evaluation. The good news for the Z06's unlucky owner, at least, is that GM will be covering the engine replacement under warranty, an expense that Corvette Forum estimates is a nearly $24,000 procedure. At this point, the two leading theories behind the engine's detonation involve a manufacturing defect – which could be why GM is so keen to tear the blown powerplant down – or a mistake on the part of Lawdogg. As Motor Authority points out, such an error could be something as simple as the Z06's owner accidentally shifting to first rather than third during his 35-mph pull. If, however, there's a deeper manufacturing problem with the Z06's engine, this might not be the only case we end up hearing about.
