87 Vette 51000 Miles on 2040-cars
Madison, Ohio, United States
This is a 1987 Corvette with 51000 miles. I got the car on a trade around a year ago. It needs a bunch of TLC. I had the clutch slave cylinder, master cylinder throwout bearing replaced. The car has remained in a "Corvette specialist" shop for nearly a year for which I received nothing more than grief and a bill! All the things about the car are from prior owner, but seems motor is stout. So here goes, it's an earlier 350 4bolt main block with .030 cleanup with Summit pistons I'm told it's around 11.0 to 1 compression. It has a Competition Extreme energy cam, 510 lift 276 duration with Rhodes lifters. Aluminum heads with mild port and polish done. HEI distributor. 26lb injectors (new) also have 36lb injectors that go with. I'm told if you get rid of the factory fuel injection and swap to carb, should run ok. with engine mods computer just loads up with fuel making it undriveable. The "expert" continued to put new proms in but gave up. It will start and move around the driveway, but that's it. The car has the 4 + 3 trans. It comes with a truck load of spare parts from electrical to body parts. Needs someone to finish it, I have lost interest. I could be interested in a trade but no bikes or Vettes. Has black leather interior in fair condition tops of door panels are missing as is radio. Will need paint. Any questions please ask, if your feedback is less than 5 contact me first or I will remove your bid. $200.00 PayPal deposit end of auction. Balance due before car moves.
On Sep-17-14 at 11:02:53 PDT, seller added the following information: I have been asked what parts I have. A bit of everything, all used.. springs, fairing interior electrical, boxes of stuff will fill a pick up.. all goes will not seperate.. |

GM Canada recalls 159,240 GMC and Chevy trucks for faulty defroster circuit
Fri, Jul 12 2019General Motors is recalling more than 159,000 2014-2019 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickup trucks in Canada due to a potential fire risk. GM says the rear defroster circuit could overheat on trucks optioned with the power-sliding rear window. Thus far, there is no word on the recall's relation to U.S. vehicles. The recall, found by Automotive News, was posted to Transport Canada on June 28, 2019 with manufacturer recall No. N192220470. Included in the 159,240 vehicles are the 2014-2018 Silverado 1500, the 2015-2019 Silverado HD, the 2014-2018 Silverado LD, the 2014-2018 Sierra 1500, the 2015-2019 Sierra HD, and the 2014-2018 Sierra LD. The notice says the rear defroster circuit, specifically on trucks with the power-sliding rear window, could overheat. Because of its placement, this excess heat could cause melting, smoking, or possibly fire, in the worst case scenario. As of now, there is no official word when GM will initiate the recall and there is no official fix detailed just yet. GM suggests that owners, who will be notified by mail if their vehicles are affected, take their trucks to a dealer to remove the rear window defroster fuse as a stop-gap. Automotive News contacted GM to find out if the problem is also found in trucks sold in the United States, but no definitive statement was made, as the investigation is reportedly ongoing. We will update this space if American vehicles are found to be included in the problem.
Question of the Day: What's the most irritating car name?
Wed, Mar 9 2016You hear a lot about how the Chevrolet Nova was a sales flop in Mexico because "No va" means "it doesn't go" in Spanish; in fact, the Nova sold pretty well south of the border, and in any case most Spanish-speakers know that "Nova" means "new" in Latin and Portuguese. However, General Motors doesn't deserve to be let off the hook for bad car names, because the Oldsmobile Achieva— no doubt inspired by the excruciating "coffee achievers" ads of the 1980s— scrapes the biggest fingernails down the screechiest chalkboard in the US-market car-name world. That is, unless you think Daihatsu's incomprehensible choice of Charade was worse. Meanwhile, Japanese car buyers could get machines with cool names like Mazda Bongo Friendee or Honda Life Dunk. It's just not fair! So, what car name drives you the craziest? Related Video: Auto News Design/Style Chevrolet Honda Mazda Daihatsu Automotive History questions car names
The story of the 2014 Chevrolet SS: "Luxury, power, refinement, handling"
Thu, 07 Mar 2013Not including the women and men who built it, the 2014 Chevrolet SS has only been seen in person by a piddling number of people - fewer humans than would fill the gymnasium at a high school volleyball game. Not including the men and women who built it, no one has driven it. Even so, it is already saddled with two controversies: the way it looks and the way it shifts.
First to that shifting. Did we love the last Americanized Holden, the awesomely sportsome Pontiac G8 GXP, and its six-speed manual? Of course. Do we wish the SS came with a six-speed manual? Of course. But we'd like a toboggan to come with a manual transmission. We'd put a manual transmission on a weasel if we could because we're just wired that way; if it moves, it should come with a stick and a clutch. Or at least the option.
Let's climb down off the ledge, though. We haven't driven the SS and we have no idea how good (or not) the automatic is. And the Hobson's Choice in transmissions when it comes to sport sedans like the BMW M5, Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG and Jaguar XFR-S and, oh yeah, cars-that-really-should-have-manuals like the Audi R8 and Nissan GT-R and Porsche 918 and every single Lamborghini and Ferrari, for instance, hasn't stopped us from enjoying what is clearly the gruesome, dual-clutched demise of Western automotive civilization. Because in spite of our ululations at the dying of the six-speed light, we understand.
