If you google 1993 Corvette Specifications, you will see that the torch red exterior with the torch red interior, was the poster child for 1993, however not very many were produced. Only 14% of the corvettes in 93 were manufactured with a torch red exterior and far, far  less than that  percentage, were made with a torch red interior, to go with it. This car also contains the the deluxe option package of torch red leather, adjustable power seats (almost $2k) and combining of all those factors, I have never seen another one like this. The car also has a one piece removeable roof which is also factory painted, torch red. The GM factory spec sheet says that they were only made in blue or bronze tint, so I'm not sure if this was a special order or not but at the least, is very rare and unusual. Unfortuneately GM does not keep those records.  The car contains GM's premium, 'corvette preferred equiptment group one', their top of the line option package (see original window sticker) which added alomost $5k to to the base package and includes; a electronic climate control system, a Bose music system, including am/fm, cd and cassete, leather adjustable power sport bucket seats, selective ride control, larger tires and has beautiful gold kick plates on each door with the '40th anniversary' logo, as well as the 40th anniversary logo embroidered on each seat headrest. The car's sticker price was $39,974 and add to that dealer added options of clearcoat coating applied to the paint and dealer applied window tinting, with lifetime warranty and the car's total cost was $41,169. Add all these together and I don't think you can find another corvette like this one, a very classy combination. I've been told by at least three turnpike toll takers that its the nicest vette they've ever seen, regardess of model or year. Engine, transmission and drivetrain perform smoothly and flawlessly and the car has all the power and torque you could want.  Not to be confused with the special 40th anniversary with  ZR1 high performace package in burgandy. This model is a much better looking, classier and a more reliable car. My daughter stepped on the remote a few few years back, so although I have it, it doesn't work. I've seen them offered on ebay for $100-150 but I never bothered to pursue one. Tires are all very good, new parts include a new battery, new rear brakes, a new drivers seat pan with motors to make operation smoother. I've just had the AC upgraded to todays freon and AC system spec's, it's been certified it to blow cold to 43 degrees. Selling the car because I have sold the house and garage, that it's been stored in.

The car comes complete with all the documentation that was provided by the dealer with the car, at the time of purchase, so the new owner will be assured it is 100% original and also provides historical traceability, very rare to have with any car. The documentation are all in very good condition and includes the following; the original window sticker, the original sales receipt, the original sales receipt for the dealer added options of Clear Coat and Window Tinting with the lifetime warranty card, the leather bound operators manual, the original coverage agreement papers for the GM protection plan, the dealers pre-delivery inspection procedure checklist, the original warranty paperwork, a corvette roadside assistance booklet, the chevrolet warranty and owner assistance booklet, a chevrolet owner satisfaction booklet, a corvette 40 year history booklet, the original corvette pen light, notepad and a 40th anniversary sweatshirt which has never beeen worn. See pictures for all of these items described.

Next Chevy Volt will be 2016 model and ride on new chassis

Fri, Mar 7 2014

What do we know about the 2016 Chevy Volt? Well, for now, all we can do is try to put the puzzle together without the box. Thankfully, a new batch of pieces has arrived from a new report in Edmunds, which says that the 2016 model year will introduce the second generation of a car that hasn't been dramatically updated since it went on sale in 2010. The new Volt is getting an "evolutionary styling change" and will ride on a new front-drive platform that has been developed by General Motors. GM's Kevin Kelly told AutoblogGreen that he has "no comment on future products," but he did acknowledge that Chevrolet is working on a second-generation Volt, "but I can't say anything about timing." Everybody already knew that a next-gen Volt is coming, so that's not a surprise. What we don't know is any real concrete information on the car itself. The few tidbits of information we do have help define the outlines of the next version of Chevy's halo car, but they're not confirmed yet. For the record, they range from the eye-raising (a $10,000 price drop) to the logical (20 percent more electric range). We can't see the whole picture yet, but the pieces do point to the 2016 Volt, which would be released next year sometime, being a much bigger deal than the last update, when the Volt's range was increased by three electric miles thanks to a battery capacity increase of 16 kWh to 16.5.

Motor Trend puts Chevy Camaro Z28 and Porsche 911 GT3 Head 2 Head

Mon, Dec 29 2014

Motor Trend admits, "This is an unfair comparison." But that doesn't make it any less fun to watch when they pit a Camaro Z/28 against the Porsche 911 GT3. The former has a 7.0-liter V8 with 505 horsepower and 481 pound-feet of torque shifted through a six-speed manual. The latter has a 3.8-liter flat-six with 475 hp and 324 lb-ft shifted through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Yet those are only the little disparities – the big disparities are mass and money: the Camaro weighs 3,882 pounds and costs $76,150 as-tested, the Porsche weighs 3,267 pounds and costs $145,785. But they're both about hardcore performance, so MT takes them out on the street, to the drag strip, to the parking lot for figure eights and a skidpad test, and finally to Big Willow for Randy Pobst to give his professional assessment. Remember when a lotta people spent a lotta time debating Pirates vs. Ninjas? This is like that, only it's the "haul-ass good-time car" vs. the "track surgeon." Enjoy the debate in the video.

The Jitterbugs somersaulted at the 1986 Chicago Auto Show for the Chevy Nova

Tue, Dec 30 2014

Judging by the vintage videos that the Chicago Auto Show has been uploading, if you wanted to check out the latest vehicles and watch some dancers in the same place in the late '80s and early '90s, then the Windy City event was definitely the place to be. We've already seen the Footlockers pitching the Cavalier in '88 and a troupe of women singing about the Geo brand in '91. Apparently, the trend went back even further, though. Just take a look at this group called the Jitterbugs selling some badge-engineered products from Chevrolet at the 1986 show. Flanked by the Chevy Nova and Spectrum, these guys managed to do a few pretty impressive jumps and somersaults but mixed them with some rather uninspired spins, as well. Also, wait for 1:24 into the clip to see the least enthusiastic backup dancers that the world has ever known. The Jitterbugs are even further proof that Chevy's habit of mixing dancing and its vehicles goes back even further than the Volt.
