2004 Corvette Z06
Commemorative Edition

Up for bid here is my 2004 Commemorative Edition Corvette Z06, which was only available for the 2004 model year. This is car #1242 of 2025 ever built. I hate to sell it but things have come up in life as they sometimes do which require me to let it go. The car is in great overall condition with just under 29K miles and has always been garage kept since day one. The only enhancements done to the car are a skip shift eliminator plug allowing you to shift to any gear at any rpm, bypassing the forced 1-4 skip shift, a Hurst billet aluminum short throw shifter with a leather wrapped shift knob, and chrome style Z06 wheels. The original factory shifter is of course also included.

There is small damage to the trunk lid and paint on the bumper in the same area from when a van lightly bumped into the car in a parking lot when he was backing up (see photos). If you have any questions don't hesitate to call me. I can be reached at (516) 526-4216. If there is no answer please leave a message and a phone number and I will get back to you. You are also more then welcome to come see the car before bidding, just give me a call and we'll set up a time for you to come see it. Listed below are some specs on the car:

  • 2004 Corvette Z06 Commemorative Edition (#1242 of only 2025 built)

  • 405Hp/400 lb-ft. Torque

  • 6-Speed Manual Transmission

  • Carbon Fiber Hood (2004 Commemorative Edition Z06 Only)

Vert-A-Pac train cars kept your Chevy Vega's price in check

Fri, 01 Mar 2013

Our apologies to those who've seen this before, but for the rest of the class, how awesome are these pictures of the Vert-A-Pac shipping system General Motors came up with to ship the Chevrolet Vega back in the 1970s? Developed along with Southern Pacific Railroad, GM was able to double the amount of Vega models it could ship by packing them into the unique storage cars vertically.
At the time, rail cars could fit 15 vehicles each, but Chevrolet was able to lower shipping costs by making it possible to ship 30 Vegas per rail car, in turn allowing the price of the Vega to remain as low as possible. Each rail car had 30 doors that would fold down so that a Vega could be strapped on, and then a forklift would come along and lift the door into place. All the cars were positioned nose down, and since they were shipped with all of their required fluids, certain aspects had to be designed specifically for this type of shipping, including an oil baffle in the engine, a special battery and even a repositioned windshield washer reservoir. See for yourself in our image gallery above.

There once was a time when Daewoo was one of the biggest companies in South Korea. It was larger than both LG and Samsung, and second only to Hyundai. But these days the name is all but gone.

NHTSA approves hybrid rearview mirror display in Cadillac CT6, Bolt EV

Tue, Feb 23 2016

The Chevy Bolt EV prototype doesn't just have a fancy new all-electric powertrain. Just outside the driver's line of sight is a newfangled rearview mirror, one that can turn into a screen that shows a moving image from the rear-facing camera. Speaking to NPR's Robert Siegel yesterday, Department of Transportation secretary Anthony Foxx said that NHTSA has now approved this type of mirror/screen for use in vehicles. According to a letter from NHTSA to General Motors, GM will likely use this Full Display Mirror first in the 2016 Cadillac CT6 before coming to the Bolt. In its letter to GM, NHTSA said that the Full Display Mirror will only qualify as a standard rearview mirror as long as there are normal side mirrors in place. In other words, don't expect to see cameras and screens replacing all the mirrors in a motor vehicle just yet. @AutoblogGreen @NPR - #NHTSA has OK'd GM rear-view system that can switch between mirror & camera views. pic.twitter.com/6CBeIit10v — Anthony Foxx (@SecretaryFoxx) February 22, 2016 The Full Display Mirror was developed by Gentex, which has long worked with GM. The FDM debuted in 2014 and some people hoped it would also make its way into the Tesla Model X. Gentex, which also makes auto-dimming mirrors, says that it has "set out to develop the technologies and core competencies necessary to manage this evolution of the rearview mirror." The Chevy Bolt EV will start at $37,500, before incentives. The 200-mile EV will go into production late this year for likely sale in early 2017. Related Video:
