I'm selling my well maintained 2000 convertible. It has just over 27,000 miles. It was an Arizona car until 2011. In addition to the standard equipment it has the following options: polished aluminum wheels, leather "sport seats", 12 disc CD, active handling system, head up display, dual zone AC, power telescoping steering column & manual tilt, six way power passenger seat, memory package, fog lamps, twilight sentinel, and floor mats. It has new "Michelin Pilot "run flats".
The following is the repair history: In February, 2012, I had all the trans axle and transmission seals replaced. Currently, I have a small leak at the drivers side rear axle shaft, at the transaxle cover. The C5 Corvette is known to be plagued with this issue, apparently it is a design flaw in engineering that causes the seal to fail ( see photo).
I have included photos to show the cosmetic flaws: "pinch marks to fabric of top, surface wear on side of console where my leg rubbed. The interior is in excellent condition. There are no water leaks. I changed the oil at regular intervals with "Mobil 1". It is stored winters. I installed "Euro" tail light lenses, and the amber side marker lenses. It has a padded partition between the trunk and passenger compartment. The red fender stripes are vinyl.
In two years of ownership, I have driven the Corvette around 9,000 miles. It delivers 28 + miles per gallon on the highway. The Corvette is sold "as is". It has never been in an accident. I am an NCRS member, and a member of the Michigan Chapter NCRS.
On Sep-08-13 at 14:14:30 PDT, seller added the following information:
I need to clarify the leaky axle seal issue for those bidding. I had the drivers side trans axle cover replaced in July 2012. In August 2013, it began to drip again. The mechanics diagnosis was that if replaced, there was no way to guarantee that it would not start dripping again in a few months, or may never again leak. He emphasized that the issue involved the engineering of the transaxle mounting, which was never addressed by GM, until the C6 Corvette came out. I want to make full disclosure of this issue, to avoid any misunderstanding.

EcoCar2 is on the hunt for a better, cleaner Chevy Malibu [w/video]
Thu, Jun 12 2014The students spent three years transforming an ordinary Chevy Malibu into a revolutionary vehicle. Not far from the building where General Motors once invented the Chevy Volt, a dozen or so college students are standing on the blacktop alongside a test track, watching a professional driver push the limits of a plug-in hybrid car they've built that's far more radical. These students, from Colorado State University, have spent the past three years transforming an ordinary Chevy Malibu into a revolutionary vehicle. At first glance, it still looks like a regular sedan. But under the hood, they've installed a hybrid powertrain that contains both hydrogen and electric power sources. Even by the standards of the Department of Energy competition they're participating in, it's an outlier. That's exactly what they had in mind. "We didn't want to come here and tell them how to build a better Volt," said Tom Bradley, faculty adviser for the Colorado State team. "They already know how to do that. We can tell them how to think about these possibilities in a whole new way." After three years of work, it all comes down to this. The Colorado State team was one of 15 that came to GM's Milford Proving Grounds last week for the final stretch of the EcoCar2 competition, which challenges regular college students who have no automotive experience to do nothing less than reinvent the American car. The teams have come from across North America, and include schools like Ohio State and Virginia Tech that have a long history of participating in similar competitions, and schools like the University of Washington and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University that are here for the first time. After three years of work, it all comes down to this. The teams have operated 24 hours a day for almost two weeks here at the Proving Grounds, running a gamut of tests that include a 310-point safety inspection, emissions and energy-consumption tests and road tests, in which professional GM drivers ensure they're road worthy. The winning team will be announced tonight in Washington D.C. Revolutionary cars, ordinary package While other green-car competitions encourage extreme designs, this one comes with a somewhat constraining twist: Yes, students must improve fuel economy and reduce emissions, but in the end, they still have to have a car that would appeal to mainstream customers. In practical terms, that means they must keep conveniences like air conditioning and trunk space.
GM takes heat for aborted Silverado riff on 'Boston Strong' at World Series
Thu, 31 Oct 2013During game five of the World Series, Chevrolet was set to do a spot of marketing for the 2014 Silverado - fans at Busch Stadium in St. Louis would hold up placards that spelled out the words "Silverado Strong," a theme that Chevy has been promoting since the Silverado's launch with the song "Strong," by Will Hoge. The St. Louis promo was ultimately called off, though, over concerns that it'd be insensitive to the visiting Boston Red Sox. (You can see the image of what the stunt would have looked like above, courtesy of one timely Reddit user.)
Now, the Busch Stadium stunt might not have been a big deal, had the St. Louis Cardinals not been playing the Boston Red Sox. Following the tragic events in Boston during the marathon back in April, the phrase "Boston Strong" gained traction among the city's citizens, especially at sporting events. So, you can imagine that Chevy's appropriation of the phrase might not sit well with some fans.
The stunt was ultimately shelved after images of the signs went viral before the game, leading to a bit of a public backlash. Chevy spokesperson Michael Albano said of the promo that it was meant to show the brand's "commitment to baseball and its fans." But after the images went viral, the company "realized there was the possibility that we may offend some of the very fans we were trying to honor," Albano told Automotive News via email.
