1996 Chevrolet Corvette C4 Convertible Collector's Edition! This is a very clean and well maintained vehicle! It has a matched set of 4 newer Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus tires on it with over 8/32nd's left on them! The pictures speak for themselves. This vehicle is registered and insured and is driven back and forth to work (20 miles) daily. It has a new Opti-Spark, Ignition Wires, Waterpump and Thermostat, Charcoal Canister and Purge Valves, Air Filter and rear brake pads (All AC Delco and all done at a Chevrolet Dealer within the last year). The oil and filter have been changed every 4,000 miles with Mobil 1 Full Synthetic 5w30 as it should. This vehicle has never been in an accident. It does have some normal wear, some small scratches on the front and rear bumpers, side view mirrors, left front rug near the left front speaker, center console cover has some of the "flat black" starting to wear. Slight pulsation from front brakes.Every light in and around the vehicle works as it should with the exception of the back-lit radio light, needs bulbs I was told. The CD/Tape Player, Stereo and all speakers work as they should. The A/C at times does not come out of the center vents, I read about this and it seems as though the nipples on the control module need to be replaced with a more solid rubber than the soft rubber in there from the Factory. I installed aftermarket high-end Glass headlights with H4 bulbs instead of the sealed beams. This vehicle can be driven from the East Coast to the West Coast and back without a concern. I do not want to sell this car! However, an illness in my family is more important to me right now. I can be reached anytime at 617-719-0569 or e-mail with any questions. Joe. PickupTrucks.com's latest test results in a familiar winner [w/video]
Wed, 19 Jun 2013PickupTrucks.com has gone and thrown the latest batch of half-ton pickups into a cage match to see who would come out on top. The site put the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, GMC Sierra 1500, 2013 Ford F-150, Ram 1500, Toyota Tundra and Nissan Titan through a battery of tests. Those included 0-60 miles per hour acceleration, 60-0 mph deceleration, fuel economy, a hill climb, and payload and towing. They even threw the rigs on an autocross course to evaluate overall handling. Each truck was given points based on how it scored in each evaluation.
Who came out on top? Somewhat surprisingly, the 2013 Ford F-150 walked away with the gold, though fewer than 50 points separated first and fourth place. Head over to PickupTrucks.com to read the full evaluation and the final results. You may be shocked to see exactly where some of the segment's newest additions placed. You can also watch a video on the test below.
Next Chevy Volt will be 2016 model and ride on new chassis
Fri, Mar 7 2014What do we know about the 2016 Chevy Volt? Well, for now, all we can do is try to put the puzzle together without the box. Thankfully, a new batch of pieces has arrived from a new report in Edmunds, which says that the 2016 model year will introduce the second generation of a car that hasn't been dramatically updated since it went on sale in 2010. The new Volt is getting an "evolutionary styling change" and will ride on a new front-drive platform that has been developed by General Motors. GM's Kevin Kelly told AutoblogGreen that he has "no comment on future products," but he did acknowledge that Chevrolet is working on a second-generation Volt, "but I can't say anything about timing." Everybody already knew that a next-gen Volt is coming, so that's not a surprise. What we don't know is any real concrete information on the car itself. The few tidbits of information we do have help define the outlines of the next version of Chevy's halo car, but they're not confirmed yet. For the record, they range from the eye-raising (a $10,000 price drop) to the logical (20 percent more electric range). We can't see the whole picture yet, but the pieces do point to the 2016 Volt, which would be released next year sometime, being a much bigger deal than the last update, when the Volt's range was increased by three electric miles thanks to a battery capacity increase of 16 kWh to 16.5.
Why the Corvette is Chevrolet's billion-dollar baby
Thu, 28 Feb 2013Edmunds has worked up a piece that tries to figure out just how much the global Chevrolet Corvette economy is worth, a spitballed guesstimate putting the number at more than $2.5 billion with the proviso that the number is probably low. It starts by taking Corvette's new car sales of 14,132 units last year, which would equate to $714,725,900 (including destination) assuming ever car sold was a base coupe with no options. In the final tally, a little extra padding gets that number up to $750,000,000.
But that's not all. Consider this: Many of the almost 1.4 million Corvettes produced over the model's history are still on the road. There are new parts being produced and aftermarket companies like Mid-America Motorworks deaing business, that single Illinois company doing more than $40 million a year in sales. There are the Corvette events large and small, restorers who do nothing but Corvettes, salvage yards that deal only in used Corvette parts and the Corvette magazines where owners find all this stuff.
And then there are the Corvette-themed tchotchkes, every single one of which provides a tiny contribution to the huge licensing royalties that General Motors collects every year. The article admits there's no way to come to an accurate number, but it just goes to show how valuable one specific model can be to a company.
