Here you are viewing a great road car that is perfect for the true Corvette lover! This vehicle is in good running condition. The exterior of this vehicle is clean, better than average. The inside of this vehicle is smoke-free and has a clean interior.  Driver's door locks tend to be having minor issues (electrical). The power seats, cd player/stereo, and the digital dashboard (which is far beyond 1987 technology in sport cars) all work like they did back in 1987. Nothing has been altered or replaced besides the custom wheels (Original stock wheels are included), and it appears to have been repainted by the previous owner to maintain it's attractive gold appearance. This coupe also has the option to easily pop off the roof within seconds if you want to enjoy the summer breeze (contains small holster in back for easy storage). This is a road car worth having if you truly appreciate Corvettes. Please view photos carefully and read all specs/information before bidding.

What makes the 1987 Corvette so special compared to it's predecessors?

This model features roller tappets for the camshaft and the lifters. These are just what they sound like, as 18 needle rollers in a cage support the roller that actually rides against the camshaft lobe, and the reduction in friction (it says in the brochure) is worth a 3-percent gain in fuel economy and 3-4 horsepower at peak. Also, the engine breathes through multi-port injection with tuned intake runners and with an outside, i.e. cold, air supply. The cylinder heads are aluminum at last, following a struggle all during 1986, in which the alloy heads were announced, produced, found faulty, withdrawn and produced again. All taken care of now! The rocker covers are magnesium, which looks terrific and weighs almost nothing and probably was done to counter rivals with extra valves or camshafts. The brakes are disc all around, as they've been three generations running, and the 1987, like the 1986, has antilock controls for the brakes. An option that sounds a bit on the far side is a set of monitors for tire pressure, to tell the driver if the tire's getting soft. This sounds impossible but inside each tire, attached to the wheel rim, is a hermetically sealed pressure sensor, a radio transmitter, and a long-life power generator.  Opposite each unit is a dummy unit that weighs exactly the same, so the wheel stays in balance. If air pressure in any tire drops below the preset minimum, the sensor triggers the signal and turns on a warning light on the dashboard. As a backup, the warning light will also come on if there's a malfunction and the sensor isn't sensing or the transmitter isn't capable of transmission. Last but not least, the 1987 passenger seat now has the same (again, as an option) 6-way power assisted adjustment control as the driver's seat. The seat goes up, down, tilts and slides back and forth under power, with extra control for seatback tilt and a lumbar support and even a longitudinal adjustment to semi-wrap the sides of the seat around ribs and shoulders.

The Chevrolet Bolt is headed to China as a Buick SUV

Thu, Jan 16 2020

When spy photos of what appeared to be Chevrolet Bolt EV with some minor front- and rear-end updates circulated last week, Autoblog surmised that GM was working on some sort of Bolt-based vehicle — potentially a crossover — to be sold in China as a Buick. We may just have corroboration for that theory. On Thursday, Motor1.com spotted a story published earlier this week on the Chinese site Auto Home which claims that GM has applied to sell an all-electric SUV under the Velite 7 nameplate in China.  There's little differentiating the Velite 7's exterior from the Bolt EV's, apart from bumpers, badges, and a little extra ground clearance. Up front, the bowtie is replaced by a round Buick badge, and the bumper picks up an almost Prius-like appearance thanks to contrasting vertical elements and a thin grille bleeding into the head lights to give it a full-width appearance. Chevy Bolt-based prototype View 16 Photos If the Chinese report is accurate, there is one significant difference under the skin. Per the application, the Buick crossover variant is to be powered by a 174-horsepower electric powertrain. That's down 26 horsepower from the Bolt EV's powertrain, and we can't help but think that a lifted Buick variant might just need every pony it can get.  The needs of the Chinese market are unique, and we're certain GM knows what it's doing if these figures are accurate. We have no reason to believe Buick plans to sell the Velite 7 EV here in the States, though we expect an updated Chevy Bolt eventually, and we wouldn't be surprised if Buick brings something along shortly to fill the void left by the departure of the Regal sedan and its variants.  Related Video:

Junkyard Gem: 1985 Chevrolet Sprint

Thu, May 21 2020

For in the 1985 model year, General Motors began selling Chevrolet-badged Suzuki Cultus hatchbacks in California. Sales of the cheap three-cylinder econobox in the rest of North America followed soon after (with the Canadian version known as the Pontiac Firefly), and did pretty well considering the crash in gasoline prices during the middle 1980s. Starting in 1988, the facelifted Sprint became the Geo (and, later on, Chevrolet) Metro. Here's one of the very first Cultuses sold on our shores, found in a San Francisco Bay Area car graveyard. Amazingly, the primitive rear-wheel-drive Chevrolet Chevette remained available all the way through 1987, competing with the thriftier front-wheel-drive Sprint in the same showrooms. For 1988, Pontiac started selling a rebadged Daewoo LeMans, so the Sprint/Metro never lacked for intra-corporate competition. Inside, you'll find the same stuff most mid-1980s Japanese econoboxes got: tough cloth upholstery and long-wearing hard plastics. Suzuki quality in 1985 wasn't quite up to Honda or Toyota levels, but you weren't paying Honda or Toyota prices for the Sprint. MSRP on this car started at $4,949, or about $12,000 in 2020 dollars. The cheapest possible 1985 Chevette cost $5,340, while a new no-frills Ford Escort would set you back $5,620. Subaru, however, could have put you in a punitively unappointed base-model Leone hatchback for just 40 bucks more than the Sprint that year. I think I'd have sprung the extra for a $5,348 Toyota Tercel, a $5,195 Mazda GLC, or— best cheap-commuter deal of all that year— the $5,399 Honda Civic 1300 hatchback. I was 19 years old and driving a Competition Orange 1968 Mercury Cyclone that year, and I recall feeling pity for Chevy Sprint drivers, new-car smell or not. Still, these weren't bad cars for the price, though a Sprint with an automatic transmission was a real character-builder. Got three cylinders and uses 'em all! 48 horsepower from this hemi-headed SOHC 1-liter. The Turbo Sprint — yes, such a car existed — had a howling 70 horsepower. The hood-latch release is a rectangular button that resembles a badge. 1985 Chevy Sprint Commercial The highest-mileage, lowest-priced car you can buy. 1985 holden barina commercial The Australian-market version was the Holden Barina, and the TV ads featured the Road Runner. 1983 SUZUKI CULTUS Ad In its homeland, this car got screaming guitars and a drive through New York City for its TV commercials.

The Jitterbugs somersaulted at the 1986 Chicago Auto Show for the Chevy Nova

Tue, Dec 30 2014

Judging by the vintage videos that the Chicago Auto Show has been uploading, if you wanted to check out the latest vehicles and watch some dancers in the same place in the late '80s and early '90s, then the Windy City event was definitely the place to be. We've already seen the Footlockers pitching the Cavalier in '88 and a troupe of women singing about the Geo brand in '91. Apparently, the trend went back even further, though. Just take a look at this group called the Jitterbugs selling some badge-engineered products from Chevrolet at the 1986 show. Flanked by the Chevy Nova and Spectrum, these guys managed to do a few pretty impressive jumps and somersaults but mixed them with some rather uninspired spins, as well. Also, wait for 1:24 into the clip to see the least enthusiastic backup dancers that the world has ever known. The Jitterbugs are even further proof that Chevy's habit of mixing dancing and its vehicles goes back even further than the Volt.
