This is a 1984 LOW mileage Corvette. This car sat for 10 years and 2 and a half years ago was brought it back to the land of the living. When resurrected the radiator was changed to a larger one to help with cooling. Also, the brake booster and master was changed as well as cleaning the fuel system and changing the fuel pump with the 1985 pump. The 85 pump would keep a more even PSI in the upper RPM range where as the 84 pump would lose PSI the higher the RPM, hence the cross fire issues. Over the last 2 years I have had ZERO issues with the cross fire system. I bought this car with 66,xxx miles and have put 12k miles on it and  no problems what so ever. I have also upgraded the A/C system from R-12 to 134A and it blows cold even on the hottest Florida days. I replaced with new: heater control valve, outer window seals, seat covers upper and lower, smog pump, water pump, belt, seat covers, floor mats, brake switch, tires (about 6500 to 7000 miles on them now), thermostat and just had the oil changed about 100 miles ago. This car drives great. Everything works to include the cruise control, LCD dash, lights roll properly, driver seat still works but is getting tired, windows still work good. The rear window defroster does not work. I can see the wire pulled out of the clip but it was never important enough for me to solder it back since it hardly ever gets cold enough here. Also, while the mechanic had it up in the air he said it would need rear bushings soon and I know Ecklers carries them for about $70 which is for both sides. that's about all that this car needs. It was painted Rosso Corsa (Ferrari) red with the white strip. The hash marks on the fender are painted on and not a decal. This is a great car and we have enjoyed it a lot. Time for someone else to enjoy it now and move on to my next project. I also have a 2003 883R with a lot of engine upgrades and will trade both for a 1999 or newer H D Ultra Classic. Just email me and I can go into more detail about the 883. The first $4500obo takes this car so now you know the reserve! Great car with ZERO issues on the cross fire. I have $5700 in this car-my loss is your gain

GM applies for LT5, LTX trademarks... are new small block variants coming?

Mon, 29 Apr 2013

Recently discovered General Motors trademark applications for LT4, LT5, LT88 and LTX have observers wondering what kind of high-performance offerings could be on their way. A new LT4 would mark a return of the engine designation first used on the Corvette Grand Sport, SLP Pontiac Firehawk and SLP Chevrolet Camaro SS from 1996 and 1997. Supposition at Corvette Forum - which provided advance intel on the C7 like these leaked images - believes a new LT4 could go into the high-performance trim of the next-gen, 2015 Camaro that would be more powerful than the 580-horsepower Camaro ZL1.
Seeing an LT5 again would also be déjà vu - in its former life it was a 5.7-liter V8 for the C4 Corvette ZR-1 from 1990-1994 designed by Lotus, producing from 370 hp to 405 hp. A mix of rumor and hope is that the new LT5 will be a supercharged evolution of the 6.2-liter LT1 (pictured) placed in the new C7 Corvette, and that it will go into the C7 version of the ZR1 pumping out something like 700 hp.
The LTX trademark is, as with that last letter, a complete mystery. If the "X" isn't a generic way to denote the whole LT family, it's wondered if it LTX could refer to a crate motor offering like the LSX.

Veyron and C7 Corvette join cast of Transformers 4

Wed, 29 May 2013

Like the Fast & Furious franchise, the Michael Bay-directed series of Transformers movies has become known as much for its bad acting as its impressive lineup of cars. As filming just started for Transformers 4, Bay's website has confirmed two new cars for the next installment as well as a makeover for everyone's favorite tractor trailer hero, Optimus Prime.
Joining the cast of T4 are a "race-inspired" Chevrolet Corvette Stingray and a Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse. While Bay's website did not supply names for either car, Bugatti is reporting on its Facebook page that the Veyron will join the Autobots. Speaking of the good guys, top Autobot Optimus Prime is getting an all-new body based on a Western Star with a gaudy appearance that was seemingly inspired by Trick My Truck - right down to the six smoke stacks and side pipes!

Junkyard Gem: 1987 Chevrolet Turbo Sprint

Sun, Feb 6 2022

Fifteen years ago, I wrote my first-ever automotive article under the name Murilee Martin, and it didn't take me long to start writing about one of my favorite automotive subjects: the junkyard. Before I'd refined my system for documenting discarded vehicles, however, I shot a lot of boneyard photos that never got used. For today's Junkyard Gem, I have four shots from early 2007 of one of the rarest turbocharged machines of the 1980s: the Chevrolet Turbo Sprint. The Chevrolet Sprint was really a rebadged Suzuki Cultus, from the pre-Geo era when General Motors sold the Isuzu Gemini as the Chevrolet Spectrum, the Daewoo LeMans as the Pontiac LeMans and the Toyota Corolla as the Chevrolet Nova (soon enough, the Spectrum became a Geo, and the Nova became the Prizm). The second-generation Cultus appeared in 1988, becoming the Geo Metro on our shores the following year. The Turbo Sprint was available for just the last two years of the Sprint's 1985-1988 American sales run, and it appears that just a couple of thousand were sold; if I'd known at the time just how rare they were, I'd have shot more photos of this one at the now-defunct Hayward Pick Your Part. The turbocharged 993cc three-cylinder produced 70 horsepower, 22 better than the naturally-aspirated version. Since the Turbo Sprint weighed just 1,620 pounds (that's about 500 pounds lighter than a barely more powerful '22 Mitsusbishi Mirage), it was plenty of fun to drive. For 1988, the regular Sprint hatchback cost $6,380 while the Turbo Sprint listed at $8,240 (that's about $15,375 and $19,855 today, respectively). Believe it or not, a Turbo Sprint actually raced in the 24 Hours of Lemons 10 years ago, though it didn't end well. This ad is for the regular Cultus, not the Cultus Turbo, but the screaming guitars sound reasonably turbocharged. For the most part, Chevy Sprint marketing was all about cheap purchase price and stingy fuel economy… at a time when gasoline prices were cratering. Related Video:
