As much as I hate to, I need to move one of my projects on to someone who can finish it.  I have other stuff pending, and I start to stress when I go out and see all I have/want to do, so I want to move the one and put it towards my 74.

For sale is my 1981 vette that I was in the process of turning into a full resto mod.   I love the 81s and bought this one with a ton already done to it, and then went further to try to complete it.  The asking price when I bought it was 13,000 and we originally agreed on   11,500.  When I arrived to pick up the car, I was disappointed in the paint job.  It looked great from 10 feet, but was bubbling in some spots.  After some discussion, we agreed on less taking that into account.  The person I bought it from is a great guy and did nice work overall on the car.   The following is what was done when I bought it.

-New ZZ4 Crate motor w/4 bolt main, aluminum heads, hydraulic roller camshaft, aluminum dual-plane intake, HEI distributor, 355 HP w/over 400 ft lb torque, 650cfm Street Avenger Holley carb, chrome fuel lines with pressure gauge.  Everything under the hood is brand new. All brackets are powder coated black and run true, new 100amp alternator, Dewitt radiator and steam-cleaned and recoated transmission cooler.  Engine alone over $5000.

-Transmission is brand new rebuilt w/added mild shift kit and 2200 stall converter

-Front end inclusive of all bearings, gaskets, bushings and compinents is brand new, new brakes and assemblies, new SS brake lines and shocks

-Rear end has all new brake assemblies inclusive of parking brake assemblies, new bushings, shocks, trailing arms are refinished and rebushed w/new spacers, new rear fiberglass spring (330lbs) and new universals.

-Frame has been completed sanded and recoated with POR-15

-Car completely stripped down to gel-coat and re-primed/painted, tuxedo black exterior thru inclusive of all door jamb components, engine compartment is matt black
Interior stripped and fully Dynamatt insulation installed and brand new stock carpet. New Stereo, new speakers and wired for CD player

-New gas tank, fuel ines, gaskets and HP fuel pump

-All new weatherstripping throughout

-Brand new 255/60-R15 BFG tires

Since then, I have done and or changed the following:

Removed stock exhaust and replaced with new Hooker headers and side pipes.   Car sounds amazing.
New door panels.  Have new in boxes but have not installed yet.
New seat foam and leather covers (redid frames and tracks while apart, painted panels on back)
New Steering wheel
New center emergency brake pad and arm rest
Corvette floor mats.
New BF Goodrich 265 tires on rear.
New center caps

I lowered the car front and rear and with the bigger tires in the back, it has an awesome stance.

The car runs great and I have had out on the road around block many times.  But no cruises or anything as it is not ready yet.  There are basically no miles on the work that was done.  The tires have zero miles on them.
The vacuum works good and the lights function well.  I have binders of receipts from prior owner and some things from myself.  I also have the tank sticker and original owners manual.

What I wanted to do to complete and what the car needs:

The car was never aligned after the new suspension was put in, so it needs that.
I removed the AC and heat (still have some parts) as my goal was a driver.  I was going to look into an aftermarket setup, as I wanted to open up the engine compartment, hence the removal.  I still have to put a cover plate on the opening in the firewall.
The gauges all work  but are disconnected.  I was planning on replacing them all with aftermarket ones.
Finish installing door panels.  To complete the interior, that last thing it needs is the battery compartment covers as they look beat.
I started polishing the rims.  I got 2 done.  Others look good but the polish would really bring them out.  I do have new caps for them.
Then eventually I was going to have the paint repaired, but my focus was to have a fun car to drive, and since from 10 feet the paint looks good, this was way down my list.
Also, while working on it I bumped the radiator (I was beyond mad at myself as you can imagine).  I contacted DeWitts and tried to patch with an epoxy, but it still has an extremely slow leak, even under pressure.  DeWitts said they could repair, but I never pulled to send pack. Car can be driven with no problem, the coolant level just needs to be checked occasionally.

Between buying the car and then all the stuff I bought for it, I am in over 14K in the car.  My reserve is a fraction of that and feel free to make an offer.  You might be surprised what I will take and the worst I can say is no.   I just really want to move this car even at a loss.  I can even deliver within a reasonable distance.   I try to be upfront with people and I am really into vettes.  This is a cool car, and has amazing potential, but it does need work to finish.  It really is a perfect winter project and honestly, mechanically from the engine, trans, rear, suspension, brakes, and most of interior, it is all brand new.  All it needs is someone to finish it up.  The reserve is less than the new parts in it if you were tring to build a car.  I could part it out for more, but I would rather not.

Thanks.

Note:   Vehicle is sold as is.   A $500 deposit is due within 24 hours if end if auction.  Full payment with 4 days unless other arrangements are made.  Please contact me with any specific questions and I will answer the best I can so there are no surprises.

Cadillac Celestiq, Lyriq, Hummer, other future GM electric cars: Here's everything we saw at ‘EV Day’

Wed, Mar 4 2020

WARREN, Mich. — Today, General Motors held an “EV Day” event at its Warren, Michigan, campus to present its new “Ultium” battery technology, modular electric vehicle architecture and soon-to-come electric vehicles. Unfortunately, we were forbidden from bringing cameras into the event, so while we canÂ’t show you what we saw, we can tell you more about it. While we saw the previously teased Cadillac EV (which we now know to be called the Lyriq) and the GMC Hummer pickup teased during the Super Bowl, there were a number of other future cars at the event, which GM President Mark Reuss assured us are all real vehicles in the works. The biggest surprise came at the end of the event, though, in the Cadillac Celestiq electric sedan, which Reuss described as a future flagship that would be hand-built “very locally.” It had been hiding under a dark sheet all morning, with the front and rear illuminated Cadillac emblems shining from underneath. When the wraps came off, we saw a long, white, four-seat fastback sedan. The 23-inch wheels were pushed out to the very corners of the car, giving it what appeared to be a very long wheelbase. The model on the stage had no side mirrors or visible door handles. The grille mirrored that of the Lyriq crossover next to it, with integrated lighting in lieu of the usual mesh or slats youÂ’d see in an internal combustion car. The entire roof, all the way until it tapered to the tail of the vehicle, was tinted glass. In back, vertical tail lighting ran down the C-pillar before turning rearward across the top of the trunk. Inside, everything below the beltline of the windows — essentially all but the headrests and top portion of the steering wheel, was hidden from view. Behind the Celestiq, a large digital display showed a rendering of its interior. The dash consists of a pillar-to-pillar curved LED display serving as both instrument panel and infotainment system. Protruding forward between the front seats was another touchscreen that appeared to house some more controls, with open area, probably for storage, below it. The rear seats had the same sort of touchscreen between them. Built into the back of the front seats were a pair of rear-seat entertainment screens, much like we saw in the Lyriq. The door panels blended wood, metal and animated lighting to give character and a sense of opulence. GM interior design manager Tristan Murphy was on hand to tell us a bit more about the Celestiq.

GM recalling 426,000 sedans over faulty transmission shift cable

Fri, 21 Sep 2012

General Motors is recalling some 426,240 sedans that may have a faulty transmission shift cable, according to a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration report this morning. The recall concerns a fault within four-speed automatic transmissions equipped on 2007-2010 Saturn Aura models, and 2008-2010 Chevrolet Malibu and Pontiac G6 models.
The report specifies that tabs on the transmission shift cable may fracture and separate. Such a fault could cause a discrepancy between the actual position of the transmission and the apparent position of the shift lever.
GM is currently working to notify owners of the vehicles in question, and dealers will check and replace shift cables free of charge. Scroll down to read the complete NHTSA report.

Subprime financing on the rise in new car sales, leasing too

Fri, 07 Dec 2012

We all remember the financial crisis that began several years back. At its core was a splurge of subprime lending for housing loans. The housing bubble burst, triggering a collapse of the mortgage-backed securities market. Apparently, those types of loans still exist in the automotive industry, and the market share for these types of "nonprime, subprime, and deep subprime," loans has grown 13.6 percent compared to the third quarter a year ago.
According to an Automotive News report, high-risk lending expanded to 24.8 percent of total loans in Q3, up from 21.9 percent for this time last year. As this level increased, average credit scores of borrowers dropped to 755, down from 763 a year ago. In that time, the average financing amount increased $90 per vehicle, to $25,963.
At 818, Volvo maintains the highest per-owner credit score, while Mitsubishi has the lowest, at 694. The highest rate of borrowers was at Toyota, with 14 percent of the market, followed by Ford with 13.1 percent and Chevrolet at 11.1.
