Here is a 1981 Corvette project that I have had stored inside for several years. It is a rare combination of dark blue exterior, silver interior, and was a factory 4 speed manual transmission. This was a Texas car and it has a very solid frame, floors, and birdcage. Rear section of the body from the firewall back is in great shape, front clip (nose) was removed due to fiberglass damage. Two front clip sections are included as pictured. Some dash pieces are missing, but the dash wiring is intact. The car has tilt / telescopic steering and power everything (steering, brakes, windows, locks, seat). It was also set up for the rear roof top carrier. No engine or transmission are included. but engine wiring, clutch linkage and shifter linkage are still in place,

Basically, what you see in the pictures is what you get. It is ready to restore to original or build into whatever you want such as a resto-mod with newer engine and transmission. I was going to go with either a big block or LS motor with a 6 speed and a tilt front end, but the possibilities are endless. It currently has a clear Illinois title in my name. It's a great project, I just have too many and have decided to sell a few. It can be inspected at any time - I'm about 70 miles southwest of Chicago along I-80.

The story of the 2014 Chevrolet SS: "Luxury, power, refinement, handling"

Not including the women and men who built it, the 2014 Chevrolet SS has only been seen in person by a piddling number of people - fewer humans than would fill the gymnasium at a high school volleyball game. Not including the men and women who built it, no one has driven it. Even so, it is already saddled with two controversies: the way it looks and the way it shifts.
First to that shifting. Did we love the last Americanized Holden, the awesomely sportsome Pontiac G8 GXP, and its six-speed manual? Of course. Do we wish the SS came with a six-speed manual? Of course. But we'd like a toboggan to come with a manual transmission. We'd put a manual transmission on a weasel if we could because we're just wired that way; if it moves, it should come with a stick and a clutch. Or at least the option.
Let's climb down off the ledge, though. We haven't driven the SS and we have no idea how good (or not) the automatic is. And the Hobson's Choice in transmissions when it comes to sport sedans like the BMW M5, Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG and Jaguar XFR-S and, oh yeah, cars-that-really-should-have-manuals like the Audi R8 and Nissan GT-R and Porsche 918 and every single Lamborghini and Ferrari, for instance, hasn't stopped us from enjoying what is clearly the gruesome, dual-clutched demise of Western automotive civilization. Because in spite of our ululations at the dying of the six-speed light, we understand.

Sabine Schmitz to compete in WTCC race at Nurburgring, hopes for rain

The World Touring Car Championship is set to return to the Nurburgring this year after a 30-year absence. Who better, then, to lead the pack than Sabine Schmitz? One of the most skilled drivers around the Norschleife, 45-year-old Schmitz has been known to compete in the VLN series and in the 24-hour race at the Nurburgring (which she's won twice), and regularly drives tourists on hot laps around the Green Hell. Nobody can drive the circuit better than Schmitz when the rain starts to fall, and fall it often does in the German spring, but she'll have a new challenge on her hands when she makes her WTCC debut in a Chevy Cruze for the Munnich Motorsport team for the German round next month. It'll be interesting to see how Sabine does in the race, given that she has no experience with the vehicle she'll be driving, but has immense knowledge of the notoriously difficult track. She'll have the chance to acclimate a little during the WTCC test session at the 'Ring later this month, and hopes to compete in one of the two races – in Morocco or Hungary Â– before tackling her home track in unfamiliar machinery.
