1981 CORVETTE WITH 25,708 ORIGINAL MILES. THIS CAR IS 32 YEARS OLD AND IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. IT IS OBVIOUS THAT IT HAS BEEN GARAGED AND WELL CARED FOR ITS WHOLE LIFE. IT HAS NEVER BEEN DRIVEN IN THE RAIN SINCE I HAVE OWNED IT, AND THE PREVIOUS OWNER MAINTAINED THE SAME. ABSOLUTELY NO FRAME OR UNDERCARRIAGE RUST. THE 350 V-8 RUNS GREAT AND TRANSMISSION SHIFTS PERFECT. PREVIOUS OWNER HAD REMOVED THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER BUT I HAVE IT. THE POWER ANTENNA WAS REPLACED BUT I ALSO HAVE THE ORIGINAL. SINCE I HAVE HAD IT I HAVE PUT A COMPLETE $1,200 STAINLESS STEEL BRAKE UPGRADE ON THE CAR 500 MILES AGO ALONG WITH SILICONE BRAKE FLUID, A NEW POWER STEERING SLAVE CYLINDER, ALL NEW MOTOR MOUNTS, AND NEW SHOCKS. THE CAR HAS THE VIN ETCHED IN ALL THE GLASS TO PREVENT THEFT. WINDOWS HAVE BEEN TINTED. IT HAS FACTORY AIR CONDITIONING, POWER BRAKES, POWER STEERING, GLASS T-TOPS, RED LEATHER INTERIOR, TILT, CRUISE, POWER WINDOWS, POWER LOCKS, FACTORY ALARM SYSTEM, FACTORY ALLOY WHEELS, AND FACTORY AM/FM CASSETTE RADIO. IT COMES WITH A COVER AND A FRONT BRA. I PURCHASED THE CAR 7 YEARS AGO IN MEMPHIS, TN. I BELEIEVE THAT I AM THE CARS FOURTH OWNER. INTERIOR LOOKS LIKE BRAND NEW INCLUDING THE FLOOR MATS. THE PAINT IS 32 YEARS OLD AND HAS JUST STARTED TO SHOW SOME AGING BUT IS VERY, VERY, VERY, GOOD. IT HAS ONE BONDING SEAM FATIGUE CRACK ON DRIVERS FRONT FENDER ABOUT 2 INCHES LONG. IF YOU KNOW YOUR CORVETTES THIS IS COMMON AND EASILY FIXED. IT IS ORIGINAL AND UN-RESTORED. ON A SCALE OF 1-10 I WOULD RATE THIS CAR A SOLID 8.5 TO 9 FROM ONE FOOT AWAY. IT DOES NEED THE AIR CONDITIONING CHARGED AND THE CRUISE CONTROL MAY NEED ADJUSTING. WHY AM I SELLING IT....I AM A PRIVATE PILOT AND WISH TO INVEST THIS MONEY IN MY PLANE TO UPGRADE AVIONICS. ANY QUESTIONS FEEL FREE TO CALL. PRIVATE PARTIES ONLY NO DEALERS PLEASE. YOU WILL NEED TO PICK UP THE CAR IN PERSON AS I WILL NOT SHIP IT. 5/30/13 Added: Final payment by certified cashiers check only and check will be verified with the bank it is drawn on before releasing car.
5/30/13 Added: Someone asked if the "AutoCheck" report is so good why isn't the score higher. This is due to the number of previous owners. In this case, four owners, it lowers the overall score. If you click the "?" right above the "38" score it will disclose this as being the reason. So you can have the best car on e-bay with four previous owners vs. a real rough car with one owner and the rough car could have a better numeric score. Not sure why this is but that's the way they do it.

GM faces possible class action lawsuit over 8-speed transmission
Thu, Apr 25 2019General Motors has been hit with a class-action lawsuit from owners who allege the eight-speed automatic transmission found in several rear-wheel-drive Chevrolet, Cadillac and GMC models between the 2015 and 2019 model years has a defect that causes the vehicles to hesitate and jerk when accelerating or slowing down. The lawsuit was posted to ClassAction.org and spotted by GM Authority. Problems with GM's Hydra-Matic 8L90 and 8L45 transmissions have been well-documented on Internet forums and via complaints filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, with many reporting damage to their vehicles. The lawsuit was first filed in December in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida but appears to have been transferred recently to New York. Autoblog sought comment from Theodore Leopold, the lead attorney for the plaintiffs. "These transmissions have a common defect," the complaint reads. "Drivers attempting to accelerate or decelerate their cars feel a hesitation, followed by a significant shake, shudder, jerk, clunk, or 'hard shift' when the vehicle's automatic transmission changes gears." The problem also occurs when the vehicles accelerate in a single gear, without shifting, the plaintiffs allege. "Drivers have reported that the shift is sometimes so violent, they feel as though they have been hit by another vehicle." The problem is believed to center on the transmission, torque converter or both. The complaint says it causes undue friction, causing hydraulic systems and gears to function improperly and sometimes leaves metal shavings throughout the transmission, leading to costly repairs and replacement of parts or the entire transmission. It says GM has known about the problems since shortly after it introduced the transmissions, and has issued 13 technical service bulletins, none of which have resolved the problem. GM declined to comment on the lawsuit. The plaintiffs say GM should have warned consumers about the issues and covered repairs under each vehicle's three-year/36,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty. They're seeking statewide classes in at least six states: California, Florida, Illinois, New York, Oklahoma and Texas.
Burt Reynolds' vehicles up for auction at Barrett-Jackson
Tue, Sep 25 2018Burt Reynolds' influence on car culture cannot be overstated. Be it "Smokey and the Bandit" or "Cannonball Run," his films inspired a generation of car enthusiasts. He died a few weeks back from cardiac arrest at age 82. This weekend, four vehicles from Reynolds' personal collection — three Pontiacs and a Chevy — will go up for auction at Barrett-Jackson in Las Vegas. It seems Reynolds had plans to sell the cars before he passed. He even filmed a short teaser for the auction and planned to attend the event himself. Three of the cars are Pontiac Trans Ams. Two are re-creations of the cars he drove in "Bandit" and the film "Hooper." Both are 1978 models. The third Trans Am is from 1984 and was used to promote Reynolds' USFL team, the Tampa Bay Bandits. The fourth vehicle is a 1978 Chevy R30 pickup truck. It's styled like the truck he drove in "Cannonball Run." None of the vehicles were actually used in the movies. But they were registered in his name, making them far more legitimate than some other movie-inspired clones. It's unclear how many Bandit Trans Ams Reynolds has owned over the years. Another car connected to him sold for $450,000 back in 2014. His death is sure to drive the price of these new cars even higher. Ram 1500 bests new F-150 in MT pickup shootout
Tue, Nov 25 2014Ford's 2015 Ford F-150 is a technological tour-de-force, what with its aluminum-intensive construction and its powerful and efficient new 2.7-liter EcoBoost engine option. But now that it's hit the market, it's time to get down to brass tacks and find out how just the latest F-150 actually stands up to its rivals in the hyper-competitive fullsize segment. Motor Trend is among the first to round up the Ford (in Lariat 2.7-liter 4X4 guise here) and put it up against the Ram 1500 Outdoorsman EcoDiesel 4x4 and 5.3-liter-equipped Silverado 1500 LTZ Z71 to find out how Dearborn's new-think truck measures up. The test put the trio through over 1,000 miles of tough driving in California and Arizona in a variety of conditions from just cruising around unladen to hauling a trailer. MT found all three trucks to be competent, but the most praise got heaped on the Ram and the Ford, with the Chevrolet falling a step behind its competitors in many tests. Among the Ford's most-liked features was its 2.7-liter, twin-turbo V6 that helped make the F-150 easily the quickest of the group, with some editors saying the engine felt about the same whether driving around with cargo in the bed or not. There was some minor turbo lag during acceleration while trailering, but that issue affected the Ram, too. The Ram's powertrain was lauded, as well. The EcoDiesel was torquey around town, and the 1500's combination of an eight-speed automatic and air suspension was judged to be the best of the lot. It was the most difficult to get into the bed, though. The Ram also won the fuel economy award by netting 20-miles-per-gallon city and 28-mpg highway in the test to beat its Environmental Protection Agency ratings of 19/27. The Ford's EcoBoost managed 17/22, one mpg off each from the EPA numbers, and using a lot of throttle really depleted its efficiency. As MT notes, however, it would take time for the diesel's mileage savings to pay off at the pump for these two trucks. In the end, the Ram just barely eked out the win, with the title partially earned because of "the Ford's unknown maintenance and aluminum repair costs," according to MT.
