Up for auction is a 1976 Corvette Stingray Coupe. It's an L-82, numbers matching. It is owned by a close friend, who doesn't have an ebay account. It use to be long to my best friend since 2006. Tony bought it just before his passing in 2011. It originally was bought new in Oklahoma, then sold in Arkansas. Where it resided till 2006, when My best friend Bob brought it to Missouri. It's been here since then.
This numbers matching Corvette Coupe has never been wrecked, and has only repaint, in 2008. The carpets were replaced in 2009, and the luggage rack was added at the same time. Floor mats were bought during the same time period.
The engine is an L-82, that burns no oil and runs very strong. Transmission does not leak or have any problems. The trailing arms were rebuilt in 2010, and all front bushings were replaced then as well. It now, as of 2010, has a new 3 row aluminum radiator. and all new hoses. The clock doesn't work. The radio works, but to perform better, it needs modern guts put inside. Air Conditioning will work, but leaks out in about a week. I think it is O-rings, from sitting so much.
The wheels and tires came off another 76 Corvette Tony sold. They wanted the rally wheel combo, so he switched. Tires have about 80% tread. And there is a key for the wheel locks.
Tony just, in the past 2 weeks had the ignition system worked on. All new plugs and wires were put on, because the chrome headers would burn them up. He also at the same time replaced the headers for factory exhaust manifolds. And reduced the exhaust tubes back to 2 and a half inch, back to factory size. A new over flow bottle was installed as well. Old one leaked real bad.
I have driven this car on several occasions, and can tell you that it is a joy to drive. I have placed it in several car shows as well. It shows that nice.
Now the bad. It has a small oil leak from the rear main seal, and it sits way too long in Tony's shed. Basicly driven when I get a chance. He enjoys his C5 more.
This classic C3 Corvette Coupe needs a home where some one will enjoy it, and maintain it. Every time I drive it, people give thumbs up, or comments how how cool it looks. If you like to brag, then this is the Corvette for you. Every one wants to ask questions when it parked.
I think I have covered everything about this car. If there are any questions, just e-mail me, and I will answer your questions or concerns. Thank you and good luck

General Motors CEO Provides Few Details In Appearance Before Congress
Wed, Apr 2 2014It was only two months ago that Mary Barra, freshly crowned as the new General Motors chief executive officer, visited Washington DC as an esteemed guest of First Lady Michelle Obama for the State of the Union address. On Tuesday, Barra returned to the Capitol under more strained circumstances. For more than two contentious hours, she took questions from members of a House of Representatives subcommittee investigating General Motors years-long delay in initiating a recall of millions of vehicles that contained a defect that has killed at least 13 people. Why did GM accept faulty ignition switches that were below the company's set specfications? Why did GM learn about the problem in 2001 yet take no action until 2014? Will GM compensate victims' families even though the company's bankruptcy may limit its liability? Those were a few of the questions members of the House Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee asked. Few concrete answers were forthcoming. For her part, Barra sidestepped most of the questions, saying she wouldn't have information needed to answer them until an internal review is completed. David Friedman, the administrator of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, testified after Barra. The biggest news that emerged from the hearing was that General Motors has retained attorney Kenneth Feinberg to advise the company on its civil and legal responsibilities. He has made a career of resolving disputes and serving in a 'fixer' role, serving as the chief of the federal government's September 11th Victim Compensation Fund, as an administrator of compensation fund for victims of the BP Deepwater Horizon disaster and a similar fund for victims of the Boston Marathon bombing. Barra, who has been GM's CEO since January but been with the company since 1980, expects to meet with Feinberg on Friday, and have a concrete plan within the next 30-60 days. Yet Barra would not say for certain Tuesday that GM would compensate the victims at all. Despite repeated questions from Rep. Diana DeGette (D-Colo.), Barra did not outline the company's intentions. "I assume GM is hiring (Feinberg) to help identify the size of claims and then compensate the victims? Is that right," DeGette asked. "Is GM willing to put together some kind of a compensation fund for these victims that Mr. Feinberg will then administer?" "We've hired him to help assess the situation," Barra replied. "So really, there's no money involved at this point," DeGette asked.
Just the right Camaro can change your life
Thu, Jan 22 2015Not many people can say that their car directly motivated them into a career, but that's exactly the case for Adam Martin and his 1968 Chevrolet Camaro that he calls Lucy. Martin bought the pony car in primer when he was just 16, and it helped foster his profession in restoring classic cars. Beyond just being a very cool ride for a teenager, every change to Lucy was an opportunity to hone a new automotive skill for Martin. Whether figuring out how to paint a car or building the 454-cubic-inch (7.4-liter) big block V8, the Camaro offered a platform for experimentation. This latest episode of Petrolicious gets personal about the bond between man and machine for this 18-year ongoing project. And even if the story doesn't immediately grab you, Lucy has a great voice and can do a mean burnout. Vert-A-Pac train cars kept your Chevy Vega's price in check
Fri, 01 Mar 2013Our apologies to those who've seen this before, but for the rest of the class, how awesome are these pictures of the Vert-A-Pac shipping system General Motors came up with to ship the Chevrolet Vega back in the 1970s? Developed along with Southern Pacific Railroad, GM was able to double the amount of Vega models it could ship by packing them into the unique storage cars vertically.
At the time, rail cars could fit 15 vehicles each, but Chevrolet was able to lower shipping costs by making it possible to ship 30 Vegas per rail car, in turn allowing the price of the Vega to remain as low as possible. Each rail car had 30 doors that would fold down so that a Vega could be strapped on, and then a forklift would come along and lift the door into place. All the cars were positioned nose down, and since they were shipped with all of their required fluids, certain aspects had to be designed specifically for this type of shipping, including an oil baffle in the engine, a special battery and even a repositioned windshield washer reservoir. See for yourself in our image gallery above.
