1971 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible Stingray, white with black interior. I bought the car after it had sat in a garage for about 15 years after the owner got dementia. The paint was done, interior was in a pile, and the car barely ran. I rebuilt all the brakes including rebuilt calipers, lines, and parking brake parts. The wheels and tires were replaced with Yokohamas and wire wheels. The fuel system needed to be cleaned and the carb replaced. I put the interior together and installed aftermarket gauges and had the speedo and tach cleaned and inspected. Still have the original gauges if you want to reinstall them. All the gauges work as they should. I had no top so I bought a used top frame and had a new top, seals, and cables installed. Not cheap to find a top! The wipers work with a switch on the console but the high low can be adjusted with the original switch. Headlights have been changed over to electric actuators so no more air hoses to worry about leaking. The vette can be driven now but it still needs a few things to make it more than a fun driver. It is crazy fast and looks pretty sweet going down the road. It think the 79,000 oriinal miles is about right. I would guess the front end was probably hit years ago, the motor was sold, and it sat for some time. The guy I bought it from installed the 73 front end and a 93 Camaro LT1 motor with aluminum heads to make it go fast. The motor looks really clean inside, but it does have a few seeps from sitting for 15 years. Plan on a few gaskets in the near future. Paint overall looks pretty nice, it has some small body cracks but very minimal. I bought a 2001 MR2 for my daughter and this car body is in way better shape! The suspension has never been replaced so I would guess sometime in the future it would all need to be done. Not bad to drive, but I'm sure it would tighten up the suspension if you put all new bushings and shocks on it. the frame looks like it is in real good shape, probably because it was off the road for so many years. Interior is mostly all new except for the door panels. Seats must have been recovered too because they look nice under the seat covers. This is not an all original corvette but it is a nice driver and could be a nice ride without too much work. High book is up to $38,000.00 so a good driver should be worth my reserve. I did not plan on selling it, but we all know how that goes. Life always gets in the way of life. If you have any questions please e-mail me and I will tell you what I know. I have put about 1500 miles on it since I've had it. It's a fun summer car and gets lots of attention. Convertible Stingrays are kool cars! You are responsible for all shippping, but I will do all I can on this side to get it loaded. I also have some extra parts and pieces for the interior I will include. I'm sure there are a few other little things I cannot remember, but overall its a good car.

2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Convertible gives us a couple of looks
Sat, 02 Mar 2013Put away your pixel paintbrushes, kids. Pack up your Photoshop. This is the real-deal 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Convertible in its first official images. The droptop Chevrolet will roll into the bright lights of the Palexpo exhibition at next week's Geneva Motor Show, a four-wheeled statement of intent that General Motors is serious about taking its Corvette franchise global.
Chevy isn't providing anything in the way of further details with these two shots, but we've learned at least a couple of things about the car shown here. First off, the example seen in these images is fitted with the optional Z51 Performance Package - something that isn't immediately evident because there's no sign of the coupe model's prominent ductwork on its rear haunches. In order to accommodate the power folding hard tonneau cover, the vents that feed the transmission and differential coolers have been relocated to the underside of the car. The dark paint color on this example also does a good job of muting the contrasting black front fender vents and hood opening - Z51-spec design details that have proven to be somewhat controversial.
One other thing to note: These two shots also display the Stingray wearing different alloy wheels than the split five-spoke design shown at the hardtop's Detroit Auto Show unveiling in January. The simpler, thin five-spoke wheels should do a good job of showing off the Z51's upgraded brakes, and they'll be optional on the coupe as well.
GM profit dips on truck changeover, but beats estimates
Thu, Apr 26 2018DETROIT — General Motors on Thursday reported a higher-than-expected quarterly profit despite a drop in production of high-margin pickup trucks, as it gears up for new models that are expected to boost profits next year. Like rivals Ford and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, GM is banking on highly-profitable Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra pickup trucks to lift profits, as consumers shift away from traditional passenger cars in favor of these larger, more comfortable trucks, SUVs and crossovers. During the first quarter, the process of changing over to GM's new pickups resulted in a drop in production of 47,000 units. GM Chief Financial Officer Chuck Stevens said the production drop had resulted in a drop in pre-tax profit of up to $800 million. Earlier this year, GM said its 2018 profits would be flat compared with 2017, but expected its all-new pickup trucks would boost margins starting in 2019. On Thursday, GM reiterated its full-year 2018 forecast for adjusted earnings in a range from $6.30 to $6.60 per share. The automaker said capital expenditures were more than $500 million higher in the quarter because of investments its new pickup trucks and a family of low-cost vehicles under development with Chinese partner SAIC Motor Corp. On Wednesday, rival Ford said it would stop investing in most traditional passenger sedans in North America. CFO Stevens told reporters on Thursday that GM has "already indicated that we will make significantly lower investments on a go-forward basis" in sedans. 2019 GMC Sierra View 21 Photos GM benefited from a lower effective tax rate in the quarter, but adjusted pre-tax margin fell to 7.2 percent from 9.5 percent a year earlier. Stevens said the company's profit margin should hit 10 percent or higher in the second quarter and for the full year. GM said material costs were $700 million higher in the first quarter, and it expects those costs to continue rising. The automaker said it would counter those increases with cost cutting measures. "It is a more difficult environment than it was three or four months ago," Stevens said when asked about rising commodity prices from potential steel and aluminum tariffs announced by the Trump administration. "But we are confident we can continue to offset that." The company reported quarterly net income of $1.05 billion or $1.43 per share, a drop of nearly 60 percent from $2.61 billion or $1.75 per share a year earlier. Analysts had on average expected earnings per share of $1.24.
Watch this time-lapse build of the Chevy SS for NASCAR
Fri, 08 Feb 2013There's only about a week left until we get our first look at the production version of the 2014 Chevrolet SS sedan, but Chevrolet NASCAR teams have been looking at the race version of the car all winter. Autoweek has posted a really neat time-lapse video showing just a portion of what it takes to build one of NASCAR's new Gen6 stock cars.
Though the video is quite brief, it does show almost the entire build process starting with just the car's nose, and it gives us a good look at how integral the template is to the final product. As a bonus, Hendrick Motorsports also provided some videos showing two of its teams performing pit stop tests over the winter. The second video shows some of the more detailed aspects of the racecar's rear end, including the stock-looking trunk cutout and a newly mandated rear bumper extension that will be used on super speedways like Daytona and Talladega.
To see what Team Chevy has been up to all off-season, check out all three videos posted after the jump.
