1969 Corvette Stingray Roadster / Convertible Both Tops on 2040-cars
Las Cruces, New Mexico, United States
I've had this car about 6 years and I'd like to move on to another project. The color combination is code correct Lemans Blue (976) with Bright Blue (411) interior. The car was optioned with both tops and includes the hard top, which has been recovered with new vinyl 3 or 4 years ago (looks new still because I hardly ever use the hard top and the car never sits outside very long). The car was built 14July69. The only big project left to do on this car is swap in a big block. Aside from that, the mufflers could use replacing (I never did because I intended to put in a big block and the exhaust system is different). The heater works well from the defrost vents but the vacuum line to the heater controls is not hooked up. I have never run the car in cold enough weather to use the heater. The parking brake, door locks, and door glass could be adjusted a bit better. Other than that, I do not believe there is anything not working properly on the car. Now for the fine print. A $500 non-refundable deposit is due within 24 hours of the winning. The balance of the winning bid is due within 7 days and will only be accepted in the form of a certified check (or bank check if financing). Payment must be in United States dollars. Once payment has cleared, it will take approximately 1 to 2 weeks to receive the title (according to the bank). Once payment has cleared, the car can be picked up or shipped with a bill of sale and the title can follow when received, or the buyer may choose to wait until the title comes back from the bank. Buyer handles pickup or shipping. I can recommend a very good enclosed car transport company that I've personally used several times. |

This 450-hp electric Lotus Evora is powered by Tesla and Chevrolet
Tue, May 9 2017When someone mentions an electric Lotus, the first thing that comes to mind is the Tesla Roadster, the California-based automaker's first vehicle. That car started life as an Elise before being heavily massaged and adapted by Tesla's engineers. In a similar spirit, the people at Onpoint Dyno are close to finishing Blue Lightning, a track-ready all-electric Lotus Evora. Blue Lightning uses a Tesla drive unit and a Chevrolet Volt battery pack, both mounted in the middle in place of the Evora's 3.5-liter Toyota V6. It's putting down about 450 horsepower at the wheels. The car was built for time attack sessions, so power is fed through custom forged wheels and super sticky Pirelli PZero Trofeo R tires, the same ones found on the last Chevrolet Camaro Z/28. There is a custom digital instrument cluster in place of the Lotus gauges. There's also a regen paddle on the left side of the steering wheel. With a full charge, Blue Lighting should go about 120 miles. While the car runs under its own power, it's only about 90 percent complete. It has no power steering, no firewall in between the seats and the motor and battery pack, no A/C, and a large hole where the shift lever used to be. Other final touches include fine-tuning the brakes and suspension. There is also a custom rear bumper coming that should make it look more like the new Lotus Evora 400. Onpoint Dyno expects the car to hit the track in the next month or so. Related Video:
GM recalling 426,000 sedans over faulty transmission shift cable
Fri, 21 Sep 2012General Motors is recalling some 426,240 sedans that may have a faulty transmission shift cable, according to a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration report this morning. The recall concerns a fault within four-speed automatic transmissions equipped on 2007-2010 Saturn Aura models, and 2008-2010 Chevrolet Malibu and Pontiac G6 models.
The report specifies that tabs on the transmission shift cable may fracture and separate. Such a fault could cause a discrepancy between the actual position of the transmission and the apparent position of the shift lever.
GM is currently working to notify owners of the vehicles in question, and dealers will check and replace shift cables free of charge. Scroll down to read the complete NHTSA report.
Car and Driver reveals spy shots of mid-engine 2017 Corvette
Thu, Jan 8 2015Some news in the car world is perennial, and some is perennially wrong. Typically news about some upcoming mid-engined Chevy Corvette has fallen into the latter category, with rumors never yet generating a road car. This time could very well be different. Car and Driver has some exclusive photographs of what would appear to be a Corvette test mule with a mid-mounted engine. The car in question might look like a Holden SSV ute that's undergone some indelicate modification, but C/D editor Don Sherman assures that the bones of a C8 'Vette live within that crude bodywork. Sherman points to the closeness of the cabin to the front axle as clue number one of this car's mid-engine attitude, as well as the powertrain-sized space between the back of the seats and the rear axle. The roof and glasshouse are all clearly plucked from the current C7, and the gas tank filler positioned on the B-pillar is another huge clue. The buff book estimates that the mule points to a timeline for sale, even. Testing on this level could mean a mid-engined C8 ready for sale in as few as 20 months, or for the 2017 model year. Click over to Car and Driver to have a close look at this important set of spy photographs, as well as a rendering of what a finished C8 might ultimately look like
